Siege of Orgrimmar Soloing Potential

Recommended Posts

EubbpBu.jpg

With Patch 7.1, Siege of Orgrimmar became soloable. Here are some reasons why you should add the raid to your weekly farming routine.

One of the best undocumented changes in Patch 7.1 was making Galakras soloable. It only takes two shots from the cannon to bring her down, giving a lot of potential to Siege of Orgrimmar in terms of soloing.

Why would you be interested in that? For a few reasons, Shamans can get an awesome transmog set, Hunters can tame new mechanical pets and you can also see companions drop along with the usual transmogs.

Shamans

I main a shaman and SoO has been on my rotation since Patch 7.1 went live. The reason is of course the transmog set you can get from Kor'kron Shaman's TreasureKor'kron Shaman's Treasure which drops from Earthbreaker Haromm and Wavebinder Kardris.

  • It's personal loot, so any shaman in your raid has the chance to get it.
    • The chance is the same for every difficulty so no point in doing Mythic.
  • The treasure chest can also appear in the Black Market Auction House from time to time.

Hunters
As a hunter, you can tame Thok the Bloodthirsty and four different color variations of the Iron Juggernaut as pets.

The picture is a courtesy of Eyes of the Beast and check out their step-by-step taming guide for these guys.

Thok taming can be found in the video below.

Battle Pets

There are four pet drops in Siege of Orgrimmar, dropping regardless of difficulty (the droplet doesn't drop in LFR though). Any of these pets can also be found in the Unclaimed Black Market ContainerUnclaimed Black Market Container.

Transmogs

  • You can add Tier 16 sets to your collection.
  • For weapons and other loot, go to your Adventure Journal ("Shift+J" by default), find Siege of Orgrimmar and view the drops for your class.

Gold Making

  • Make sure to loot everything, as green items sell quite well for transmogs.
  • If you're an enchanter, you can disenchant the epics into Sha CrystalSha Crystal and sell them.

I've never even done Siege of Orgrimmar. Where/what/how?!

The fastest way to get there is taking the portal from Dalaran to the Shrine in Pandaria. The entrance is beneath it. It's where Big Keech is walking around if you've been crafting a lot of panthers or engineering mounts, you may remember him.

I tried to farm it on mythic. Can't be done. At least not now. Immerseus - easy but long, around 9 minutes. Next challenge is Sha - you need to have big burst to put him under 30% quickly or he will imprison you. Galakras is Immerseus all over again - easy but long. And Juggernaut is stop sign for now. Can't be soloed. I tried as windwalker and got to 30%, and witch brewmaster to 50%. He stacks laser DoT on you which will eventualy tick 250+k every two seconds. I was 870 when I tried and it was impossible. I will try a gain at 880.

Normal and heroic is soloable and easy.

To add to the topic, something prolly everyone already knows, but Bear Tartare makes Immerseus around 10239213x less annoying.

Is there a guide somewhere for soloing this? I thought it was blocked by mechanics, and the 2 times I tried solo on Normal I failed.

As @Starym pointed out, use Bear TartareBear Tartare for Immerseus. The more adds you heal and/or kill during the phase, the shorted the fight will be, the Amalgamation boss is easy, just stand in and nuke it, the same with the Pandarens, just see to it that they all die within the set time frame or they will resurrect. Sha of Pride (4th boss) just requires a lot of DPS, you need to bring him down to 30% in 30 seconds or so, before he imprisons you, Galakras is easy, you just have to clear the trash and destroy 7 cannons. During the encounter there will be two packs of mobs approaching Sylvanas and the crew (before the first south tower becomes accessible).. Goblins near the south tower will work on the The Most Complicated Bomb in the WorldThe Most Complicated Bomb in the World, just be patient (in Heroic mode I believe, you need to defend them as well). Hopefully, they won't screw up the wires. After the tower's accessible, clear your way up, shoot Galakras twice and she will land, then it's just about nuke. During the Galakras encounter, don't go too far where the snipers are,  otherwise you will be one-shot with Sniped!Sniped!.  Iron Juggernaut is also just standing and nuking the boss. Same goes for Kor'kron Shamans, you don't even need to clear all the packs in front of the throne room, just fight them inside. Nazgrim back in the day was about not attacking him when Defensive StanceDefensive Stance was up, but I think the mechanic doesn't even matter right now.

I just did the Normal 10-player up to Nazgrim, I stopped, because I didn't get my transmog set :(

Mind you, Sha's DPS requirement is only on Mythic, as the imprisonment is the Mythic only mechanic.  You have ~38 seconds to do 70% of his life (~22M), or roughly 580k dps required.  At 873 on my monk, I was consistently 3-5% off of making it (I've got too much haste and not enough crit/mastery imo).  Immerseus isn't hard, just long (took ~11.5mins on Mythic).  Protectors I had to switch to Brewmaster for on Mythic because the damage intake was just too much, and even then I got pretty low a few times.  Almalgamation is just sit there and nuke it, fairly easy.

No, Corrupted Prison is the imprisonment and Banishment is the mythic-only mechanic.

And the undocumented change to Galakras is that you are able to shoot her down because the stun duration has been increased.

Ok, my mistake.  The banishment is what happens at ~38s on Mythic (the meaning/effect is the same though, you have 38s to do 70% of Sha's life).

Yeah I was asking specifically about this. It didn't work out for me when I tried, but I will try again.

Oh I hadn't even thought about Sha Crystals. I just auto assumed old materials wouldn't be worth very much.

I shall have to look into this.

As an Enhance Sham (870) I was able to full clear by myself, so you are just entirely wrong. Granted, I had to use potions on Sha and Shamans to beat them to their one-shot mechanics, but if you can pull over 800-900k dps burst (almost every class can) then it's not that hard. Don't tell people they can't do it when I've done it. You just have to be good & geared.

I based that on my experience. Even with my insane wildwalker burst and selfheal toolkit I wasn't able to down Juggernaut and his stupid stacking DoT. If you were able to down it, kudos to you.  Maybe enhacement have even better burst. And bloodlust to that. And yes, I could use drums, I guess. But that extra haste is not that good for me.

I will try that again soon, I have 881 after tonight. But the thought of going through Immerseus and Galakras... well maybe not so soon :-)

Regardless of how good Haste is for you, it is still a huge buff to DPS.

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

How to Get the Spirit of Eche'ro Mount
      1. Download MapCoords or some other add-os that displays coordinates in the game.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
