Help with Guardian Druid

Hello everybody!

I'm new here and still kinda new to WoW! I have 1 character atm at level 90 and I want my next to be my guardian druid. Problem is, I SUCK at Tanking. Im level 29 at the moment and this is my first time ever tanking. People have being saying I should just level it as a DPS but personally I wanna be a tank.

My rotations are terrible, I cant seem to hold any aggro and I don't know all the dungeons yet.

Is their any advice any of you guys/girls can give?

Your rotation is already almost the same as what you will be doing at 90, so you can just read the Icy-Veins guide. At 30 your Rage generation will improve dramatically with Primal Fury, at 32 you'll get a reason to use Maul, and at 38 you'll get a hard-hitting DoT in Lacerate. Other than that, you'll mostly be getting new cooldowns and survival stuff, so you can already get used to how to play your bear and not worry about changing it very much.

I had a 90 Troll Druid first, which had been leveled to 85 in a previous expansion, and then rolled a Nelf to level through dungeons during MoP. It surprised me how much she already felt complete by level 40.

Honestly tanking is the easiest thing in WoW. Keep everything infront of you and keep damaging to hold threat. If you have threat issues download omen so you can watch when and where you are losing it. biggest thing is just to not let the fight get out of your hands and dont let mobs take your back.

The damage rotation for a tank - any class of tank - is very easy. That's because everything else is such a nightmare and requires such a high level of understanding and diligence.

maybe it's because i have quick reaction times and tanking is a lot to do with reactions, but i find it really easy, keep bosses turned away. Use CD's on big damage, have a plan and stick to it

The "have a plan" part is a good part of what differentiates a good tank from a bad one. And the ability to "stick to it" even when things are falling apart around you makes you amazing. It's the reason why of all the classes, tanks are not gear dependent (except for DPS output). They are player dependent.

Hey everybody, thanks for the speedy reply and sorry for the late reply from myself lol

Ive being playing with my tank for a while now and I am getting use to it. The only problem I face is reactions times which i need to work more on lol

Besides that, i took everyones feedback and took looked at how my rotations work. I reckon I can be better at Tanking, just gotta work more at it :)

I think a lot of people would agree with me in say that tanking, more than any other role, is about experience.

Practise, practise, practise. Over time you'll learn to react to events before they happen. Other than that; learn your class and don't be afraid to experiment with different approaches to see which one fits to your liking.

Hey and welcome to WoW. The good thing about sucking is that you're only gonna get better. So keep on practicing and you'll get there :).

Its a game, you should do what you enjoy. So if you wanna play as a tank, go ahead :)

1. Keep Thrash up

2. Spam Mangle on cooldown

3. Spam Swipe on cooldown

That's pretty much your AoE. In single you also wanna put in Lacerate and then Maul as a rage dump.

Not much you can do about that except keep on queueing and learn them by doing them again and again....and again. My advice is to be upfront from the start. "Hey guys, first time tanking this dungeon so all advice and help is welcome". When people know the situation they're in they are often more relaxed than if something suddenly comes up, like you getting lost or something.

Is their any advice any of you guys/girls can give?

1. Charge the casters, melee mobs will always walk to you but casters wont (unless they're interrupted or silenced).

2. Use Line of Sight to pull groups, aggro them and then move behind a wall so they have to walk to you.

3. Practice rotating your cooldowns. It is way to common that people save them for too long. For exampe:. Barkin has only 1 min cooldown, you could use that maybe 15 times throughout the dungeon.

I am now a level 73 Druid Tank! Ive imporved a decent amount and able to hold aggro. There are still some room for imporvements but I seem to be getting better :)
