Monk Haste

Recommended Posts

I'd like to first apologize if there is already a thread about this. I raid in a guild other than my own. My guild that my toon is in has a pretty decent raid team. They're 9/12 HM I believe. My heals on my monk are great, but I also like looking at what others are doing to try to improve myself.

Earlier today I saw my guild's Mistweaver monk in Shrine of Two Moons and I decided to inspect them to see what they're gemming/reforging at such a high item level (mine is 522, theirs is 538). I saw they were gemming mainly 320 haste in red and yellow slots and 160 haste + 160 Spirit in blue. I searched everywhere online to see if there would be a reason for this and I cannot find one.

I suppose my question would be am I supposed to be gemming that way too at some point? Is there another haste cap I'm not seeing?

Here's my armory link http://us.battle.net.../Kishimo/simple

Thanks in advance.

Well, if you see my armory you will notice that i have a ton of haste gems as well, but that is because I am going for the 12k haste breakpoint.

Looking over your armory, I would suggest a couple things.

  • Too much spirit, I would recommend going down some.. If you raid 10 man, I usually see people go about 9-8k. 25 man, You should be getting rid of it as much as you can. Even more so when you get the legendary meta gem.
  • You are well over the first haste breakpoint. You can probably reach the 2nd one with no problem (6141)
What stats do you think you will value more? Int? or Crit? Theres some different ideas floating around and some people prefer to gem more crit than more int.

After deciding those things I can help you more with your stats.

also out of cuiosity, is this the monk you saw in your guild? http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/lightnings-blade/Pandagirlqt/advanced

I was contemplating getting rid of my pure spirit gems since I'm currently okay with mana. I generally prefer crit.

And yes that is the monk in my guild haha.

First off, you have WAY too much mastery gear.  Replace your neck with the Valor neck (spirit/crit) and replace one of your rings with the crit/haste (prefered) or haste/spirit ring.

The rest of of your gear, just get rid of any and all mastery that you can.  Even if its an Ilvl upgrade, DON'T TAKE MASTERY GEAR.  Unless you're upgrading from LFR -> Heroic, its just not worth it.  Also get rid of that tier helm.  The Helm off of Megaera is much better because the 4pc is not really that worth it + more crit.

next you are about 800 haste below the next haste breakpoint so you can do some slight gem modifications.

Yea, don't gem haste.  Hast is not as important because of the RPPM change.  Just go for the lowest breakpoint your gear allows

if you are about 100 points or more above the haste cap (and cannot reforge) then you might as well just go for the next one

I always advocate stacking crit. And haste is not that important right now. Just get what ever breakpoint your gear allows.

These questions have bothering be for a long while. =/

I thought Crit is mainly for improving DPS when fist weave, but i guess not now....so what could crit give, just crit healing? and why is it better than intell?

The Dark Swarm is looking for truly laid-back adults (18 and up) that want to have fun and be a part of a friendly, relaxed guild- perfect for people with the duties of full time jobs, families, and floating play time schedules due to the unpredictable availability life can cause.
We are always looking to meet new friends! We have an amazing group of people, and chat can be active in game and Discord (text), but we occasionally have lulls. Please be patient with us while we revitalize our roster!
Some things The Dark Swarm is:
► A guild who has been around since BC.
► A place for fun, mature people. You must be 18+ to join. Sense of humor strongly recommended ☺
► A guild interested in enjoying the game in our own ways. Some of us like to PvP, others like to run heroics, mythic+, and raids. Some like to level characters and professions, some love to collect things and camp rares. We welcome all styles of gameplay.
Some things The Dark Swarm is not:
► A raiding guild. If you are looking to raid on a team regularly, we are not for you. We have no interest in organizing progression raids for current content any longer. Any raiding outside of older content is done through PuGs/ LFG.
► A leveling guild. We accept characters of all levels, but we are looking for people who want to make us their permanent home, not leave once capped and geared.
► A hardcore PvP guild. Some of us do Arenas and Rated Battlegrounds, but if you want a guild who is strictly PvP oriented, we will not be a fit for your interests.
The Dark Swarm is interested in:
► Creating a tight- knit family of players who like to have a good time. Not a social butterfly? That's ok! If you are more comfortable with shutting off chat and just having a safe place for your characters, that is perfectly fine- we will be here for you if you want to interact or have questions.
► Guild events. We have had events in the past, and would be open to it again.
► Achievements. We enjoy getting groups together for achievements including metas for mounts, and guild achievements.
► Past content; we like to go back into some older content for fun from time to time as well. Examples are guild OS3D to get people Drakes, or BC raids for Transmog gear.
► Fun; most importantly, continue to be a relaxed environment to hang out in and meet fun people. Play when you want, the way you want.

      Other Info:
      ▪ We have a Community of the same name for Cross- Faction invites. Don't forget to select 'cross- faction' in the search filter!
      ▪ We are listed in the Guild Finder for easy invites!
      ▪ We use Discord for voice/text.  We are NOT active in our voice chats. Voice is generally only used when needed for groups or events, but are always available for members to use.

      ABOUT US:
Gordian Knot is a semi-hardcore raiding guild that consists of experienced raiders with some of them having raiding experience as far back as Vanilla.
We are a friendly group who enjoys World of Warcraft and loves raiding. We have fun and joke around but when bosses need to go down then all is serious! We wish for all our members to enjoy the game as much as we do and we expect raiders to maintain a 80% attendance per month. Our wish is for this guild to provide a place for our members to call home and enjoy all aspects of this game in a fun and relaxed environment.
We also enjoy a variety of other activities such as running a lot of Mythic+ dungeons doing alt-runs, achievement runs etc.
We generally aim to push Mythic+ to get +10 keys done for the weekly chests and mythic track gear. We do this in spirit to help everyone in the guild getting their highest possible gear reward from their weekly cache (socials included).
There are a few things we hold in high value but above else we value friendliness and politeness towards guildies and other players and skillfulness when it comes to the more serious parts of the game.
      CURRENTLY:
We raid 2 nights a week, Wednesdays and Sundays, from 20:15 till 23:15 server time. Our raid invites always start 15 minutes prior to each raid.
Although we are a 20-man guild, we usually run an extra group in order to get more people to experience the joys of raiding, help new raiders learn the Knot’s way to down bosses and gearing up. Usually, these runs happen on Thursdays, and also we’re on RBGs killing alliance scums every Friday or Saturday or on other in game activities if not on RBGs!
Our current guild progress is 4/8 on Nerubar Palace mythic, and we're focusing on getting further progress in The War Within. Our aim is to always progress as much as possible but also to have a relaxed and fun atmosphere at the same time!
If you're interested in joining Gordian Knot, please fill in our application form, located at https://gordian-knot.eu/apply/, or join our discord https://discord.gg/NyuK2QJY5k, alternatively please whisper one of our officers:

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.
