Lightning Archon Wizard

This is the build use by the top US wizard that has cleared 98 solo and 107 in group so it's fair to say it works in both situations.

Hi,

I got an ancient 49% CHD, 6% CDR, vit and intel MH ring. Should i swap out vit or intel for a socket?

Thanks.

Would it not be better to run Vyr's 6/Tal's 4 to make use of the extra  Archon stacks you get on hit, since you get back into Archon so fast and have the stack carryover from the swami in your cube? I have not tryed that out but only having the 6 piece bonus of Tal's last for 8 seconds after poping Archon at least in my mind you would be better off with the rediculous amount of Archon stacks you would gain. Am i missing something?

Even the one stack of Tal Rasha's 6p that you have during most of archon far exceeds this. It multiplies your damage whereas the additional stacks of archon are additive (to the other stacks). Archon is also weakest right after activation (starting at 50 stacks). Talks makes it very strong at the beginning.

I find that In-geom is the best weapon on hardcore because it easily allows you to have swami and archon stacks at the same time. It also removes/reduces the internal cooldowns in archon teleport and explosive blast abilities.

On hardcore, if archon is on CD without swami stacks, I find it's best to just wait for archon to reset, even with obsidian ring.

The high risk of death, and astounding damage is what makes this build so much fun to play on hardcore.

how is arcane power managed with this build? I feel like my dps is being bottle-necked (in non-archon form) by the fact that arcane torrent, coupled with the insane amount of attack speed gained by archon stacks out of archon form (enabled by The Swami), drains my arcane power almost instantly.

I would recommend re rolling one of your unwavering glare's stats to get 4 arcane power regen per crit helps you use arcane torrent without running out of arcane power. Hope this helps!

So i tried this build for a while and i gotta damage wise it's the most powerful i've ever played... for 8 seconds... after your TR buffs drop, you can't kill shit with this build and you have to wait for your archon wear off.

going back to FB archon

Why do you equip Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac and cube Royal Ring of Grandeur?

With Obsidian you get AS, CHC, CDR & RCR as fixed rolls. So you reroll RCR for a socket.

With RROG you get AS, LOH as fixed and 2 random prefixes. So assuming you get a socket and INT, you can either reroll LOH or INT to get CHD.

Assuming you have perfect gear, you will have 64% CHC and 430% CHD with Obsdian. With RROG you will have 58% CHC and 480% CHD. Is that little CDR really worth giving up 50% CHD?

As far as I can tell, this build is focused to gain archon stacks to be able to nuke tougher mobs/elites once you get out. I don't know if it different for higher (60+) GRs since I started this season couple days ago,

I have to agree with King Roger that a perfect roll for RoRG will give higher damage than a perfect roll for Obsidian.  It's arguably easier to obtain a perfect roll on RoRG rather than having to burn forgotten souls on rerolling an Obsidian when they could be used to reroll more important pieces.  Also, an ancient RoRG will raise damage even higher than a standard one, while an ancient Obsidian is pointless.

Actually, Sandman's analysis is pretty accurate because the point of the build at higher GRs is definitely the 8 sec burst right when popping archon.  If the build were focused to gain archon stacks, then the set priority would be 6 Vyr/4 Tals and not the 4 Vyr/6 Tals that it is.  The build is certainly focused on burning down elite packs in the first 8 secs of archon.  In the remaining 12 secs, I usually try to find another elite pack, although the damage will be greatly diminished, then with a few seconds remaining I'll try to carve a nice little safe hole to make sure I'm not surrounded when dropping out of archon.

A couple changes I make to this build are similar to some changes that some wizards on the leaderboard use.  Arcane torrent, magic weapon, and archon are the same, but the final 3 are blackhole (spellsteal), energy armor (force armor), and energy twister (mistral breeze).  With energy twister the bracers become Ranslor's Folly, which followed by blackhole, arcane torrent and archon stacks from Swami leaves you far from defenseless outside of archon for a couple seconds.  Without explosive blast, the cube either becomes starfire or in-geom, whichever you don't have as a well rolled ancient.

Quick question: Why isn't the Archon lightning rune used so that Archon abilities proc Mandal Heal?

I do agree that you are most powerful within these 8 seconds, but you will most likely carry stacks into next archon, so if you have more stacks, you should have better chance to kill elites once you re-enter. But then again, up to 65, GRs can be done even without power hungry with no issues, probably because I was able to get back in archon faster considering astral presence was there by mistake. I use snowbound for blizzard (rest is the same as variant 2). Does twister proc cd reset more often than blizzard?!

Hi ppl,

is there anything with the attack speed breakpoints? I have 7% ias, on gloves, weapon, ring, ring, torso and maximum from paragon, my fazula's affix has 49 starting archon stacks, so against an RG I have 3,53+ attack/sec, without pig sticker.

Is this worth to go for high attack/sec or I just misread something and it need only the CD, CHC and CHD on most of the items?

This might be an actual in-game bug tbh.

Hi,

Regarding Starfire weapon I dont see lightning damage increased in mine. I see like secondaries: maximum arcane power and chance to blind on hit.

Another question, is this build better for gps than firebird archon? Im using firebid archon build but Im thinking to change cuz Im having issues with archon cd, long cd.

Best regards.

It should be an additional effect of your weapon, not a stat. Also, yes it can be. Depends on group comp and your playstyle.

Damage is great, but survivability is really bad. I thought it was me being a bad player but I watched Korean dude's stream who cleared 104 with FB in S9 and he was dying all the time playing this build. Finally he managed to clear 100, with the help of shield and conduit pylons but still died 2 times I think. It's probably worth to augment Vitality and/or Dexterity on some of your ancients for more toughness because it's just too squishy.

It is squishy, but that's the point. You roll for the "right" rift, then you blast through it with the insane damage it can provide. This build was never meant to be tanky.

Using in-geom in this build can get you some massive archon stacks if you can chain enough elite packs and minimize your archon cooldown.

The issue is, at higher GRs, you'll never chain them properly and maintain the In-geom buff.

Blizzard have moved the launch of Season 34 back a week!
While it was supposed to start today, Blizzard cite players not wanting the new D3 and D4 season launches to overlap on the same week, and needing more time to get the season properly set up, as the previous one ended early.
      Season 34 Delay (Source)
      Hi all
We have shifted the start for the new season of Diablo III to next week. This is due to a few items:
We received a good amount of feedback that many didn’t want overlap with the first weekend of Diablo IV’s new season. We agree so we are building out that gap and will be more mindful of that going forward.
This will help us properly ensure account states migrate over as we had an issue with the prior season rolling early and us having to kick things back on.
You can find the exact times on our Season 34 blog.

For an in-depth look at what’s coming, take a gander below. Also, Season 33 will officially come to an end on January 19.

Looking to turn the tide of an unremitting war between light and darkness, the Angels of the High Heavens have embedded a token of their righteousness in Sanctuary. Cunning Nephalem seeking an advantage in combat will undergo an angelic trial, crystallizing a symbol of their morality into pure, otherworldly perfection. The specific celestial force imbued within by the divine is unknown—an answer waiting to be sought on the battlefield. Go forth, Nephalem!
Season 34 reintroduces Light’s Calling. Valiant Nephalem who recover Angelic Crucibles, a new consumable item, may use them to Sanctify any equippable Legendary item, infusing it with one of three new class-specific powers at random. We wanted to use Angelic Crucibles to lean into the expertise of each class, further exemplifying its respective prowess, but through a nuanced lens. The High Heavens are home to ethereal splendor, bursting with boundless radiance—we wanted to provide players with a taste of untainted power as doled out from Heaven itself.

It seems something went very wrong with Season 33, as it it just... ended a while ago. Players took to the forums as there was no early warning, other than a server message around an hour before it all ended. PezRadar responded clarifying that this is not intended and that Blizzard are looking into what happened.
