So it seems after the edit Hydra has been taken out of this build? I assume because of the whole manald not proccing when proccing on hydras?

Would someone please explain why the rune choice for Black Hole is arcane Spellsteal and not lightning Supermassive?

Because of the short dmgbuff from spellsteal that fits the coe playstyle.

Manald proc come from archon anyway and get more and more buffed this way.

Hydras are still recommended on the appropriate variation (check the dedicated progression variant page). They are much stronger at very high health single target, which there simply isn't a need for in the majority of content (sub-GR 90 runs, some would even say sub-95 depending on gear perfection).

for the group progression, without gogok of swiftness my archon downtime will be longer than the 16 window coe cycle (I already had 65% cdr), so what you are suggesting in your guide is that having another dps gem instead of gogok and wait out another full coe cycle for more burst? or just use archon whenever (i.e. not waiting for fire at 1 sec)

I was wondering this too. I am almost sure both ways wont work better than keeping gogok as the 3rd gem and it was just a mistake while adapting the guide to the new format.

Another question i got is, why u use the frost nova for cold stack in the speed farm variation. Wouldnt it be worth the 10 ap when using blizzard with the snowbound rune instead. It counts as ap spender and therefore procs orotz for entering archon faster when u have no in-geom active for some reason.

If you are able to keep 0 cd on archon with 0 in-geom downtimes, then orotz wouldnt be worth (neither would be blizzard) and orotz should be replaced by coe. But i dont really believe anyone can do that 100% of the time.

What are your thoughts?

Hydra Archon is part of Vyr/Tal...

Or what kind of gear would you wear else?

Is there any reason to wear the Starfire over AW?

It seems like the opposite of what the guide says is true: since Aether Walker's legendary affix is binary and therefore unaffected by being cubed, but Starfire's has a range that is maxed by it, I would think it is usually better to wear the former and cube the latter. Unless you have a great Starfire.

Edit: I thought of a reason to do it the other way. All three of this build's variations--solo, group, and speed--use Starfire, but a different second weapon. It might make sense to wear one Starfire and cube the other three weapons.

I looked at the guide and like the build, https://www.icy-veins.com/d3/lightning-archon-wizard-skills-and-runes, but where does lightning come from to use with the Manald Ring and Paralysis?

The other elements are mentioned on how to proc them but nothing about lightning which is also needed for Starfire.

Any help would be great as I'm really confused with this.

Since the Vyr 2-pc set bonus adds all runes to Archon, instead of the damage type of Archon abilities being chosen by which rune is selected, it is chosen by your highest +Elemental damage type, which should be Lightning (probably on bracers only; note that Lightning Damage is not among this guide's priority stats for amulet). Choose the Combustion rune for Archon, so the initial Fire blast adds a Tal Rasha stack (for some reason, the stack only appears if you choose that rune, even though the blast is always Fire).

The Archon disintegration beam (or any other Archon attack) adds another TR stack, gets a bonus from Starfire, and triggers Paralysis/Manald. Having four TR stacks (two before activating Archon) makes a really big difference in damage. Keep in mind that a spell doesn't have to actually hit something to add a TR stack, just casting it does that.

Awesome, thank you for clearing that up for me.

In Archon form I tend to use arcane blast and not disintegration beam, I just find it easier to use, theres no loss of damage over using it instead of disintegration?

Also do I look for Attack Speed over CDR with this build?

CDR is really important for this build if you are pushing progression.  You need 63% before gogok of swiftness in order to maximize your archon up time while still keeping it synchronized with CoE's rotation.  Otherwise you will be using your CoE inefficiently or you will have an undesirably high archon down time while you are waiting for CoE to line up with it.  Otherwise CDR becomes somewhat less important if you are using In-Geom + ORotZ.  Even still having some CDR is still preferable, but you don't need absurd amounts.  Crit still does more then attack speed generally, but honestly, the manald proc is so strong that if your not pushing progression, it doesn't matter as much.

The range of the beam is longer (which helps Zei's and Starfire), and I hear (but can't verify) that it ticks more often and thus can proc Manald Heal more. (Also, the actual range of the beam is longer than the graphic for it, it's at least long enough to hit stuff barely off-screen diagonally, but maybe more. Also also the 1-slot ability--is that the blast you mean?--can be cast during a beam channel without interrupting it.)

I have every gear gem and skills put to use how the guide tells me to do but nothing seems to make dmg except the arcane torrent.. while in archon I can merely harm the mobs but when I use torrent some of them just pops instantly.. What could I be missing?

When I play this build, I tend to get no crits, no paralysis procs or hits at all as soon as I activate archon. At first it worked well, but now I can hardly finish a 50 grift.

Some ideas on this topic?

Put lightning damage on your bracers. Make sure you have a very high crit chance+damage. I use blood bracers, they help a lot.

It also helps to wiggle the archon beam around I've noticed..

Also, you won't have constant critical hits, but then all of a sudden you wipe out everything on the screen in a second.. it's just how it works.

Make sure your archon beam is blue, not red. Could be cause of the missing lightning damage roll or if you got another element roll somewhere else. Your archon needs to deal lightning damage to proc parslysis/manald heal at all.

I'm confused as to why the Paragon points lists 4 options when Intelligence is the second to go for, but it's uncapped.

Why do you list Vitality / Max Arcane Power, if it's impossible to cap Intelligence?

While mainstat has no hard limit and is #2 priority, it does not mean that you should always place the paragon point there. Most of the time you want to spend the paragon point on intelligence indeed, but if you feel like being too squishy, Vitality is still a valid investment, especially for Hardcore builds.

Basically, you want to put points to Vitality if you feel are too squishy, to Max Arcane Power if you are running low occasionally, and to Intelligence in all other cases.

Guest Alternate weapons?

Hi, have a question
Seems 90% are playing with In-Geom or Starfire and having the other of these 2 in the Cube.
Some use AetherWalker cubed, but this need maybe a lot of Arcane power instead.
What about alterbnate Weapons, who for example are making more AOE?
In lower rifts (testing about 65) using "Odyns Son" feels very great for me , because of better proc of Gogok
Hitting more Enemies, faster proccs Gogok, pushing CDR and so Archon will be mostly never paused at all (at about normally 60-61%CDR).
What do you think?

Starfire is for insane long-range damage, and if your Archon's off time is short enough, you don't really need Aether. Other weapon could offer AOE or different proc, yes, but you're not making efficient use of Archon wave's super long range.

A brand new season arrives in Diablo 3 next month! Blizzard have the full preview ready so let's take a look at the cosmetic rewards, season journey, Haedrig's Gift sets, and more!
      Season 33 (Source)
Sanctuary needs you to answer its call for aid in Season 33: Shades of the Nephalem. Starting on October 25 at 5 p.m. PDT/CET/KST, Nephalem can harness the power of the Shades of the Nephalem theme, which first debuted with Season 22. For an in-depth look at what’s coming, take a gander below. Also, Season 32 will officially come to an end on October 20. Seasonal Journey
      Season Theme
      Season Cosmetic Rewards
      Season Journey Rewards
      Seasonal Conquest
      Haedrig’s Gift
      Patch 2.7.8
      Season Theme
The shadows, they are moving, and they seem… animated. Like they have a will of their own. Whatever this trickery is, perhaps you can use it to your advantage. Let’s see what the demons say when you fight side by side with your own shadow! Shadows of the Past: Activating a Shrine/Pylon will spawn in a shadow clone of your class, who will come with a randomly chosen 1 of 3 predetermined builds. This clone's power will scale with your character and will last for 1 minute (unless your character dies). See this article for the shadow clone variations that can spawn when activating. Kanai’s Cube: Kanai’s Cube will have a fourth slot this season. This fourth slot will have the choices of the first 3 slots but will not stack with any of them, providing additional flexibility to your build. Return to Top Season Cosmetic Rewards
Beginning with Season 17, we began re-introducing previous Seasonal rewards to make them available to any who may have missed them the first time around. For Season 33, this means awards originally available from Season 9 are returning to the Season Journey. However, we know it’s nice to have something new to aim for if you’ve already participated in previous Seasons. We’re continuing to provide new End of Journey rewards as introduced in Season 17, with two new cosmetic rewards for those who complete the entirety of the Season journey. Prove your worth in the Trial of Tempests to earn the Stupendous Contraption pet and the Industrial Portrait Frame.
In addition to the Chest and Gloves slots of the exclusive Conqueror Set, you’ll be able to earn the Pandemonium portraits, and the cute and craggily Rocky pet first introduced in Season 9. Return to Top Season Journey Rewards
If you’ve been diligently slaying demons before and reached Conqueror in the Season Journey each time, you’ve surely accrued a few extra stash tabs. You’ll earn one additional tab each Season by finishing the Conqueror tier, up to a maximum of five: Guardian of Sanctuary: Finish a Level 70 Nephalem Rift on Torment XIII difficulty within five minutes. Gem of My Life: Level three Legendary Gems to level 55. All I Do is Win: Complete 2 Conquests this Season. Life Goes On: Kill Maghda at Level 70 in under fifteen seconds on Torment XIII difficulty. Money Ain’t a Thang: Slay Greed on Torment XIII difficulty. Treasure Goblins outside of Nephalem Rifts will sometimes open portals to Greed’s domain, The Vault. Take U There: Reach Greater Rift Level 60 Solo. Greater Rift keystones can be obtained from any Nephalem Rift guardian. Power Amplification: Use Kanai’s Cube to augment an Ancient Legendary item with a Level 50+ gem. Cubic Reconfiguration: Use Kanai’s Cube to reforge a Legendary item. Return to Top Seasonal Conquest
Want to prepare your Conquest plan for Season 33? Here are the challenges you’ll face: For Curses!/Stars Align, pick any Cursed Chest event that requires killing monsters and defeat over 350 or more at level 70 on Torment X or higher. Also returning for Season 33 is Sprinter/Speed Racer, where you’re challenged to complete the entire Diablo III campaign from Act I to Act V at Level 70 in under an hour! Next is Avarice/Avaritia, where all that glitters is gold—that is, if you can complete a 50 million Gold streak outside of The Vault or its Inner Sanctum. We're also bringing Thrill/Superhuman, which requires completion of a Greater Rift Level 45—solo and without any Set items equipped. And lastly we'll be bringing back Speed Demon/Need for Speed, meaning you'll need to beat a Torment X Nephalem Rift at Level 70 in 2 minutes. Best of luck! Return to Top Haedrig’s Gift
Finally, the Class Sets rewarded for completing certain chapters in the Season Journey courtesy of Haedrig’s Gift have rotated once more. We’ve listed the available Sets below. For those new to Seasons, here’s how it works: Completing Acts II, III, and IV of the Season Journey will reward you with three of Haedrig’s Gifts. Each Gift contains a few pieces from one of your Class Sets. Players can only unlock one Class Set in this manner per Season across Hardcore and Non-Hardcore, so choose wisely! The set you receive depends on the class of the character you’re playing when you open each Haedrig’s Gift. To collect a full Class Set, you’ll need to open all three on the same character. Here are the sets granted by Haedrig’s Gift in Season 33: Barbarian - Might of the Earth Crusader - Thorns of the Invoker Demon Hunter - The Shadow's Mantle Monk - Monkey King's Garb Witch Doctor - Raiment of the Jade Harvester Wizard - Firebird's Finery Necromancer - Grace of Inarius Return to Top Patch 2.7.8
Our next patch goes live on October 22 and introduces quality-of-life updates for demon slayers on Mac. New Mac Executables/Mac Native Silicon and Intel: These updates will allow Diablo III to run on new versions of the macOS. PC Experience Stability: This PTR is open to both Mac and PC players. While the focal point of the 2.7.8 PTR is to test technical updates for Mac, we want PC users to monitor their playing experience as well. If you experience any stability issues or difficulties in connecting with Mac players, please give us that feedback. Return to Top

The Season of Ethereal Memory will start later today at 5 p.m. PDT (NA Servers), 5 p.m. CEST (EU Servers), and 5 p.m. KST (Asian Servers). The theme of Season 32 was first introduced with Season 24 and is now back for another round!

The theme of the season reintroduces the Ethereals, which are rare and powerful items known from Diablo II and reimagined for Diablo III. To help you with the start of this new season, our team has been busy updating all of our Diablo 3 guides to reflect all the changes ahead of the season launch. You can find our Season 32 Hub, as well as guides for leveling, the season mechanic, rankings, season start guides for each class, and even conquest guides, in the list below.

Season 32 in Diablo 3 starts on July 12 and here is the official preview with more details.
      (Source)
Sanctuary needs you to answer its call for aid in Season 32: Ethereal Memory. Starting on July 12 at 5 p.m. PDT/CET/KST, Nephalem can harness the power of the Ethereal Memory theme, which first debuted with Season 24. For an in-depth look at what’s coming, take a gander below.

      Seasonal Journey
      Season Theme
      Season Cosmetic Rewards
      Season Journey Rewards
      Seasonal Conquest
      Haedrig’s Gift
      Season Theme
As the Nephalem reflect on Sanctuary's history, instruments of power from a bygone era resurface. These ethereal memories will grant those persistent enough to search for them unimaginable power. Legends of the past will manifest once more in the present, and you must decide how to best use these gifts—for ethereal power is fugacious by nature, and will soon return to being no more than a myth.
For this seasonal theme, we were inspired to reimagine how Ethereal items could manifest in Diablo III, with 21 iconic weapons making a return from Diablo II. In Season 32, Ethereals are rare, powerful, and fleeting items.
Season 32 reintroduces Ethereals, a weapon-type that players will be able to acquire and hunt for in their upcoming seasonal journey. Ethereals will roll a powerful set of affixes, a random Class Weapon Legendary Power and a random Class Passive Power. Ethereals will have unique icons, names, item types, and sounds originally found in Diablo II. For additional details on Ethereals, check out the list below:
Ethereals are account bound and can only be dropped by monsters, chests, and destructibles, but do not require your character to be Level 70 in order to drop. Ethereals cannot be acquired through Kanai's Cube or from Kadala. Ethereal rarity drop rate is set between Ancient and Primal items. There are 3 unique Ethereals per class. Each Ethereal has fixed affixes and rolls one random Legendary Weapon power and one random Class Passive Skill. Only one Ethereal can be equipped at a time. Ethereals ignore item durability loss. Legendary Powers and Class Passive Skills rolled on Ethereals do not stack with the same power equipped through Kanai's Cube, Items or Skills. Ethereals cannot be Enchanted, Transmogrified, Dyed, Reforged, or traded. Ethereals can be augmented. Collecting all 21 Ethereals during the season will reward players with the Feat of Strength, Ethereal Recollection. Players who accomplish this will have all Ethereal transmogrify options available for future seasonal and non-seasonal play. Ethereals only drop in Seasonal play and will not transfer to your non-seasonal character when the season ends. Return to Top

The iconic wings of Andariel will also be available once more, allowing you to truly embrace your inner Maiden of Anguish.

      Haedrig’s Gift
Finally, the Class Sets rewarded for completing certain chapters in the Season Journey (courtesy of Haedrig’s Gift) have rotated once more. We’ve listed the available Sets below. For those new to Seasons, here’s how it works:
Completing Chapters 2, 3, and 4 of the Season Journey will reward you with three of Haedrig’s Gifts.
Here are the sets granted by Haedrig’s Gift in Season 32:
Barbarian – Immortal King’s Call Crusader – Seeker of the Light Demon Hunter – Natalya’s Vengeance Monk – Uliana’s Stratagem Necromancer – Trag’Oul’s Avatar Witch Doctor – Spirit of Arachyr Wizard – Vyr’s Amazing Arcana
