I don't know what I am missing but with the greater rift solo build, how does one get the lightning stack for tal Tasha?

black hole and teleport give arcane, missile gives cold, and activating archon gives fire but how do we achieve lightning for the 4th?

When you are in Archon form, your beam will deal the damage type equal to the highest rolled on your gear so you want your "Lightning damage" to be your highest one on your gear in total.

So when an item says 20% arcane damage I just need to reroll it to Lightning? So the 3rd and 4th stack happen when I pop archon and then attack?

Thank you!

Correct with the Lightning damage, just reroll that but note that it is ONLY the actual beam (right-click) in Archon mode this goes for, the transformation into Archon is still Fire damage, as is the melee attacks in Archon. EDIT: Melee should still be arcane I believe.

I guess this is incorrect. Otherwise you would be able to proc a fire stack in archon after rhe first quadrastack ended. You are only able to get up a single stack (lightning ofc).

It is not incorrect. You gain stack of fire when entering Archon form due to the explosion rune so thats fire initially going into Archon, lightning stacks from the beam (and beam only like I said) and then Arcane stacks from the default melee attack (which I made error about above).

Elemental damage% on gear is ONLY for the beam (right-click) and fire from the Archon rune explosion, then normal melee attack is still arcane damage.

You  would be able to maintain at least 2 tal rasha stacks over the whole archon uptime this way (after the first 4 stacks expired). But you definitely aren't able to get more than one stack.

I don't get what you mean...

And you should, the fire will obviously expire a while into archon but you get a bit of it and then you should be able to cycle Lightning+Arcane in Archon form by using all of your abilities in archon. Don't just use the beam.

It's wrong. You can only proc one stack of tal rasha while in archon.

Been away all day but I'll go and find whatever resources I got all this from before since somethings obviously not right >_<

My apologies if this is the case, could ahve sworn I've read that the ONLY thing affecting your archon damage should be the beam but I'm gonna have to double check those resources.

EDIT:
Pretty sure I've found out where I've gotten my misinformation from and it's me reading a line wrong *sigh*
Previous in this thread: "The Archon disintegration beam (or any other Archon attack) adds another TR stack, gets a bonus from Starfire, and triggers Paralysis/Manald."

What I must have done is read that part as "Not any other attack"... Sorry guys.

Just to clarify.

Entering archon with the Combustion rune chosen and having lightning as the highest elemental damage on gear procs tal rasha bonus two times, for fire and then the beam triggers lightning:
- the fire damage from combustion triggers fire for tal but ONLY once, when you activate the archon form
- on the other hand the lightning tal (because the highest ele damage is lightning in this case) is triggered constantly due to the beam dealing lightning damage.

Also as a side note %lightning doesn't affect manald's procs so as long as your ele damage is lightning it doesn't matter whether you have 15% or 20%.

I have created this Lightning Archon Wizard build and have been using Starfire.  I found this https://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/shard-of-hate (Shard of Hate) weapon and decided to try it out.  It seems so much more powerful.  Is the Starfire adding something integral to the build that I am missing?

People choose Starfire because it scales with Manald's Heal and fits good to the archon build playstyle (keep enemies at distance). Keep in mind perfectly rolled passive gives you 15% for every 10 yds, so that's 60% with perfect roll against enemies 40 yds away from you.

Shard of hate is a really poor choice as it doesn't proc Manald's Heal. It might be good in t13 or lower GRs for fast trash clearing, but if you aim high you should go Starfire. Only alternative to Starfire that might be considered is a Pig Sticker with really good rolls, as +%human damage and +%beast damage both scale with manald's heal.

I started playing Diablo 3 just a couple weeks ago and this was the first build I tried. There's something that I never really understood, and now that I've got a bit more experience than 2-3 weeks ago, I'm thinking there might just been a mistake in the solo-variation progression build.

" In order to achieve this, aim to activate ArchonArchon right at the end of the Cold Convention of ElementsConvention of Elements cycle and the first second of the Fire cycle. Since Tal Rasha stacks last for 8 seconds and Convention of ElementsConvention of Elements cycles last for 4, this will allow the Tals and Lightning rotations to end at roughly the same time, giving ArchonArchon the optimal time to cooldown."

Wouldn't that be "at the end of the Fire cycke and the first second of the Lightning cycle" ? It's really a small detail but since I started playing and not knowing any mechanics of the game, I was just blindly following this build because you guys definetly know what you're talking about. But in this case, I could never understand.

I think it should be, yeah. I'll let Deadset know.

The video is of a variant with Archon Hydra. It's a slightly outdated video, but it still presents a good indicator of gameplay with the build. Use the guide on the site, not the one in the video.

If it procs Paralysis, it will proc the damage of MH. The bug is that if you are using Hydra, your other attacks won't proc MH. This means you should only use Hydra on Rift Guardians or single-target elites.

Hello, i'm currently trying out the manald heal lightining archon build. Following the icy veins solo progression variation build, with only 1 deviation, wearing royal ring of grandeur with manald heal cubed, i seem to be having an issue. Currently, though only while in archon form, i go through times of doing no damage at all. I know i'm hitting the mobs because i can see my stuns and slows proc on them, but no damage. Other times i do damage as normal and melt everything my beam touches. While in arcon form i pop slow time, then hold beam active and use teleport to jump into groups of mobs. In my build i currently have 62.4% cdr, missing any cdr at all on my royal ring of grandeur while every other slot is max rolled. Past that my paper sheet shows me at just shy of 1 mil damage. I cannot complete grift 60 because of this damage issue. Any known bugs?

The damaage from Manald Heal is completely random. There are times when it won't proc at all, times when it destroys boss packs in seconds. The most important thing is to properly proc the Tal'Rasha set before going into Archon for max damage bonus.

Personally, if you want more reliable damage, I'd recommend playing the Vyr version of this build, I use it and find it far, far more reliable after having similar issues to you.

Guest Archon spec Broken

In response to Blainie, I think you misunderstood what i was saying. I wasn't referring to the low and high damage spikes of the class and spec. I was referring to a bug where while in archon form there are issues with doing ANY damage at all. Upon further research on the Bizzard Forum pages I've found that many others are complaining of suffering from the same bug. First comment on this was posted in Jan of 2017. As of yet this issue has not been addressed by Blizzard. From further game playing investigation I've noticed that is an issue with the Vyr set. Possible coding issue. While wearing Vyr set and gaining any of the Vyr set bonuses the bug may present itself. Specifically the bug affects damage while in archon form. Apparently not everyone has the bug present itself, but MANY do. The bug presents as no damage done with any of your archon abilities. By no damage i mean none, not zero, not extremely low. None. As you're hitting mobs with any archon ability there are periods where no damage displays and mob health is unchanged. There are also periods of damage as normal. It is confirmed that the mob is being hit during these periods of no damage because you can see your stun and slow proc's appearing on the mobs. I have posted on the Blizzard bug forum about this with the multiple others who seem to be experiencing this. As of yet, it seems, Blizzard has taken no action to correct this issue. I was hoping Maybe someone from this forum either had more information on this bug, as in how to address or fix it, or more weight on the Blizzard forum to possibly get this issue fixed. As it stands, this spec on this class is completely broken and near unplayable for me and several other people.

Is this build dated? I can only keep 1 stack from tal's while in archon... I read up to page 6, but after trying the build and only keeping 1 archon stack I came back and read the last half of page 6, and about half way through someone said they got misinformation and said you could use the melee attack to keep the 4 stacks up. That definitely doesn't work, cause all attacks turn to your highest element... I did a make-shift 6pc. vyr's + chantodo's and got to 80. I spent a ton of time and mat's to follow this guide and just want to be sure that I'm the one missing something obvious. Thnx!  ?

Hey y'all.

With the upcoming changes to patch 2.6.4, does anyone foresee the buffs to Tal Rasha 6-set catapulting this build up again in relative competitiveness? I rather enjoyed this playstyle a few seasons ago (particularly the hydra variant) and would enjoy playing it again with the new buffs to wizard. I don't care to be pushing top 100 but I would at least like to be between top 500-750 without being 1500+ paragon by season end and was curious if this would be capable of pulling it off after the buff.

Appreciate any input. Danka.

A brand new season arrives in Diablo 3 next month! Blizzard have the full preview ready so let's take a look at the cosmetic rewards, season journey, Haedrig's Gift sets, and more!
      Season 33 (Source)
Sanctuary needs you to answer its call for aid in Season 33: Shades of the Nephalem. Starting on October 25 at 5 p.m. PDT/CET/KST, Nephalem can harness the power of the Shades of the Nephalem theme, which first debuted with Season 22. For an in-depth look at what’s coming, take a gander below. Also, Season 32 will officially come to an end on October 20. Seasonal Journey
      Season Theme
      Season Cosmetic Rewards
      Season Journey Rewards
      Seasonal Conquest
      Haedrig’s Gift
      Patch 2.7.8
      Season Theme
The shadows, they are moving, and they seem… animated. Like they have a will of their own. Whatever this trickery is, perhaps you can use it to your advantage. Let’s see what the demons say when you fight side by side with your own shadow! Shadows of the Past: Activating a Shrine/Pylon will spawn in a shadow clone of your class, who will come with a randomly chosen 1 of 3 predetermined builds. This clone's power will scale with your character and will last for 1 minute (unless your character dies). See this article for the shadow clone variations that can spawn when activating. Kanai’s Cube: Kanai’s Cube will have a fourth slot this season. This fourth slot will have the choices of the first 3 slots but will not stack with any of them, providing additional flexibility to your build. Return to Top Season Cosmetic Rewards
Beginning with Season 17, we began re-introducing previous Seasonal rewards to make them available to any who may have missed them the first time around. For Season 33, this means awards originally available from Season 9 are returning to the Season Journey. However, we know it’s nice to have something new to aim for if you’ve already participated in previous Seasons. We’re continuing to provide new End of Journey rewards as introduced in Season 17, with two new cosmetic rewards for those who complete the entirety of the Season journey. Prove your worth in the Trial of Tempests to earn the Stupendous Contraption pet and the Industrial Portrait Frame.
In addition to the Chest and Gloves slots of the exclusive Conqueror Set, you’ll be able to earn the Pandemonium portraits, and the cute and craggily Rocky pet first introduced in Season 9. Return to Top Season Journey Rewards
If you’ve been diligently slaying demons before and reached Conqueror in the Season Journey each time, you’ve surely accrued a few extra stash tabs. You’ll earn one additional tab each Season by finishing the Conqueror tier, up to a maximum of five: Guardian of Sanctuary: Finish a Level 70 Nephalem Rift on Torment XIII difficulty within five minutes. Gem of My Life: Level three Legendary Gems to level 55. All I Do is Win: Complete 2 Conquests this Season. Life Goes On: Kill Maghda at Level 70 in under fifteen seconds on Torment XIII difficulty. Money Ain’t a Thang: Slay Greed on Torment XIII difficulty. Treasure Goblins outside of Nephalem Rifts will sometimes open portals to Greed’s domain, The Vault. Take U There: Reach Greater Rift Level 60 Solo. Greater Rift keystones can be obtained from any Nephalem Rift guardian. Power Amplification: Use Kanai’s Cube to augment an Ancient Legendary item with a Level 50+ gem. Cubic Reconfiguration: Use Kanai’s Cube to reforge a Legendary item. Return to Top Seasonal Conquest
Want to prepare your Conquest plan for Season 33? Here are the challenges you’ll face: For Curses!/Stars Align, pick any Cursed Chest event that requires killing monsters and defeat over 350 or more at level 70 on Torment X or higher. Also returning for Season 33 is Sprinter/Speed Racer, where you’re challenged to complete the entire Diablo III campaign from Act I to Act V at Level 70 in under an hour! Next is Avarice/Avaritia, where all that glitters is gold—that is, if you can complete a 50 million Gold streak outside of The Vault or its Inner Sanctum. We're also bringing Thrill/Superhuman, which requires completion of a Greater Rift Level 45—solo and without any Set items equipped. And lastly we'll be bringing back Speed Demon/Need for Speed, meaning you'll need to beat a Torment X Nephalem Rift at Level 70 in 2 minutes. Best of luck! Return to Top Haedrig’s Gift
Finally, the Class Sets rewarded for completing certain chapters in the Season Journey courtesy of Haedrig’s Gift have rotated once more. We’ve listed the available Sets below. For those new to Seasons, here’s how it works: Completing Acts II, III, and IV of the Season Journey will reward you with three of Haedrig’s Gifts. Each Gift contains a few pieces from one of your Class Sets. Players can only unlock one Class Set in this manner per Season across Hardcore and Non-Hardcore, so choose wisely! The set you receive depends on the class of the character you’re playing when you open each Haedrig’s Gift. To collect a full Class Set, you’ll need to open all three on the same character. Here are the sets granted by Haedrig’s Gift in Season 33: Barbarian - Might of the Earth Crusader - Thorns of the Invoker Demon Hunter - The Shadow's Mantle Monk - Monkey King's Garb Witch Doctor - Raiment of the Jade Harvester Wizard - Firebird's Finery Necromancer - Grace of Inarius Return to Top Patch 2.7.8
Our next patch goes live on October 22 and introduces quality-of-life updates for demon slayers on Mac. New Mac Executables/Mac Native Silicon and Intel: These updates will allow Diablo III to run on new versions of the macOS. PC Experience Stability: This PTR is open to both Mac and PC players. While the focal point of the 2.7.8 PTR is to test technical updates for Mac, we want PC users to monitor their playing experience as well. If you experience any stability issues or difficulties in connecting with Mac players, please give us that feedback. Return to Top

Season 32 of Diablo 3, Ethereal Memory, will go live later today, and we have prepared a list of various useful and updated guides to help you get started!
The Season of Ethereal Memory will start later today at 5 p.m. PDT (NA Servers), 5 p.m. CEST (EU Servers), and 5 p.m. KST (Asian Servers). The theme of Season 32 was first introduced with Season 24 and is now back for another round!
      What are Ethereal Memories?
The theme of the season reintroduces the Ethereals, which are rare and powerful items known from Diablo II and reimagined for Diablo III. You will be able to hunt for all 21 iconic weapons of Diablo 2 during the season, but this time they will be harder to find and will only drop in Ancient or Primal rarity!

To help you with the start of this new season, our team has been busy updating all of our Diablo 3 guides to reflect all the changes ahead of the season launch. You can find our Season 32 Hub, as well as guides for leveling, the season mechanic, rankings, season start guides for each class, and even conquest guides, in the list below.
General Season Guides Our Season 32 guides include all the information you need to know, from Haedrig's Gift sets to SSF and season mechanic explanations:
Seasonal Leveling Guide Season 32 Compendium Ethereal Memories Solo Self-Found Mode (SSF) Leveling Guides

Barbarian Season Start Crusader Season Start DH Season Start Monk Season Start Necromancer Season Start Witch Doctor Season Start Wizard Season Start Season 32 Conquest Guides

Furthermore, the end of journey rewards (originally introduced in Season 17) are back: The Teganze Warrior portrait frame and the Bat pet!

As an interesting side note, the portrait frame you can earn this season is named after Teganze, a zone that was first introduced in Diablo 2 and will be revisited during our journey in the upcoming expansion of Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred!

Season 32 in Diablo 3 starts on July 12 and here is the official preview with more details.
      (Source)
Sanctuary needs you to answer its call for aid in Season 32: Ethereal Memory. Starting on July 12 at 5 p.m. PDT/CET/KST, Nephalem can harness the power of the Ethereal Memory theme, which first debuted with Season 24. For an in-depth look at what’s coming, take a gander below.

      Seasonal Journey
      Season Theme
      Season Cosmetic Rewards
      Season Journey Rewards
      Seasonal Conquest
      Haedrig’s Gift
      Season Theme
As the Nephalem reflect on Sanctuary's history, instruments of power from a bygone era resurface. These ethereal memories will grant those persistent enough to search for them unimaginable power. Legends of the past will manifest once more in the present, and you must decide how to best use these gifts—for ethereal power is fugacious by nature, and will soon return to being no more than a myth.
For this seasonal theme, we were inspired to reimagine how Ethereal items could manifest in Diablo III, with 21 iconic weapons making a return from Diablo II. In Season 32, Ethereals are rare, powerful, and fleeting items.
Season 32 reintroduces Ethereals, a weapon-type that players will be able to acquire and hunt for in their upcoming seasonal journey. Ethereals will roll a powerful set of affixes, a random Class Weapon Legendary Power and a random Class Passive Power. Ethereals will have unique icons, names, item types, and sounds originally found in Diablo II. For additional details on Ethereals, check out the list below:
Ethereals are account bound and can only be dropped by monsters, chests, and destructibles, but do not require your character to be Level 70 in order to drop. Ethereals cannot be acquired through Kanai's Cube or from Kadala. Ethereal rarity drop rate is set between Ancient and Primal items. There are 3 unique Ethereals per class. Each Ethereal has fixed affixes and rolls one random Legendary Weapon power and one random Class Passive Skill. Only one Ethereal can be equipped at a time. Ethereals ignore item durability loss. Legendary Powers and Class Passive Skills rolled on Ethereals do not stack with the same power equipped through Kanai's Cube, Items or Skills. Ethereals cannot be Enchanted, Transmogrified, Dyed, Reforged, or traded. Ethereals can be augmented. Collecting all 21 Ethereals during the season will reward players with the Feat of Strength, Ethereal Recollection. Players who accomplish this will have all Ethereal transmogrify options available for future seasonal and non-seasonal play. Ethereals only drop in Seasonal play and will not transfer to your non-seasonal character when the season ends. Return to Top
      Season Cosmetic Rewards
Beginning with Season 17, we began re-introducing previous Seasonal rewards to make them available to players who may have missed them the first time around. For Season 32, this means awards originally available from Season 8 are returning to the Season Journey.

However, we know it’s nice to have something new to aim for if you’ve participated in previous Seasons. We’re continuing to provide new End of Journey rewards as introduced in Season 17, with two new cosmetic rewards for those who complete the entirety of the Season journey. Feast your eyes upon the Teganze Warrior Portrait Frame and Bat pet!

In addition to the Boots and Pants slots of the exclusive Conqueror Set, you’ll be able to earn a series of portrait frames that smolder with demonic fires of the Burning Hells. The iconic wings of Andariel will also be available once more, allowing you to truly embrace your inner Maiden of Anguish.

      Haedrig’s Gift
Finally, the Class Sets rewarded for completing certain chapters in the Season Journey (courtesy of Haedrig’s Gift) have rotated once more. We’ve listed the available Sets below. For those new to Seasons, here’s how it works:
Completing Chapters 2, 3, and 4 of the Season Journey will reward you with three of Haedrig’s Gifts.
Here are the sets granted by Haedrig’s Gift in Season 32:
Barbarian – Immortal King’s Call Crusader – Seeker of the Light Demon Hunter – Natalya’s Vengeance Monk – Uliana’s Stratagem Necromancer – Trag’Oul’s Avatar Witch Doctor – Spirit of Arachyr Wizard – Vyr’s Amazing Arcana
