Frost DPS - Help needed.

Hello all,

This is my first post in this area of the forum and I was wondering if someone can help me.

I've recently started logging my encounters - starting with my guilds ToV HC run.

While I'm always usually in the top 2-5 people on the DPS meter during raids, the log I took for the ToV HC run show me to be in the lower percentiles for that fight for my gear level (879 equipped, 880 bagged). I'd appreciate it if someone could enlighten me and let me know if there is something wrong in my rotation? Anything is appreciated, I'd like to maximise what I can if there's more I can eek out of my spec!

Just looking at this quick main problems I'm seeing is Icytalons uptime is kind of low could be increased. You had a lot of rime procs both get overlapped and expire, this is probably where a majority of your damage is being lost it does a lot of damage like serriously it's a 300% increase proc. There was a pretty decent amount of time over 2 runes meaning you weren't getting frozen pulse damage, try and stay at 2 or lower. 

 

New patch is coming tuesday though if you would like me to relook through logs again feel free to just post me with an updated log, make sure and try and find best talents ect, idk if 100% correct or not but i think BoS is going to be the best so major change to it.

Thanks for the reply, after spending numerous hours (when I should've been sleeping) reading logs of higher ranking players in my ilvl bracket I also noticed similar things: Icy Talons being down, Frozen Pulse not being utilised fully. 

Up until now I never actually knew much about weak auras so I personally never used them - but I can see I need to manage those uptimes better, so I made a weak aura for Icy Talons to try manage it's stacks and uptime - but it needs some tweaks before I'm happy.

I also changed my talents around, swapping Avalanche for Icecap for that style of fight, meaning more up time on PoF ideally (getting 4-5 off in a 3 minute fight vs 3 in 3 minutes) contributing to more overall damage thanks to Toravon's in theory as I saw alot of my counterparts had far more uptime on PoF compared to me (but up to 10% in places).

One question I do have though: should I be pooling runic power? I did a small test to see how it functions and if I can keep my runes down and only can Frost Strike to refresh IT I am pooling a tonne of RP - should I be expending it for when buff time is low or should I beat it down to around 35-40 so casting 2-3 more to create more damage and possibly trigger more runes for KM and Rime procs?
