Nighthold Mythic WF Race Day 3: Drama Day

Recommended Posts

Serenity got locked out of their raid for 2-3 hours, Method got blamed, things leaked and much drama ensued.

Well, crap. Day 3 was supposed to be Asia day, relatively uneventful, as the Asia guilds started their first foray into the Mythic Nighthold and caught up to everyone else. But it wasn't to be. The big event of the day was a big piece of drama between old rivals/nemeses Serenity and Method. Now, there are many stories going around about what actually happened, so let's just start with the facts.

Around 1 P.M. CET Serenity found they were unable to enter their raid, getting kicked out after 1 minute as if it wasn't their ID. This lasted for 2-3 hours. What happened was someone had offered a Serenity raider free flasks to help out with their progress, and after being invited to a group with said raider, the culprit proceeded to enter the Nighthold and lock out the entire guild. But what does Method have to do with this?

Well. The central drama appeared some time later, as this screenshot of an internal discussion within Method was leaked (apparently by Treckie, a former Method raider who got the image from a third party):

40d9b11c32.jpg

As you can imagine, shit hit the fan pretty heavily after that, with many discussions over whether it was real, fake or what it actually meant. While some thought (and still think) that Method were actually behind the incident, as in organized it, it seemed pretty clear that, if anything, it was a single member's doing. Once the screenshot was released, Method kicked Jadelolz (who had previously been in Serenity, was kicked, and had some bad blood with GM Kuznam) out of the guild with Sco tweeting this:

This is where the facts end and theories begin, as there is a lot of info floating about all of this out there, but none of it is confirmable. So let's go one by one.

Theory 1: The Lone Gunman
Jadelolz was behind it all, he sabotaged Serenity's lockout and bragged about it on Method's Slack (a team communication platform). Method leadership was confused and told him to stop, as this was very much not what they wanted.

Theory 2: The Mega Conspiracy
Same as 1, except it was a concerted effort by Method to lock Serenity out of their ID. This would include multiple coverups and constant lying on social media by many, many people. It's the most far-fetched and seems pretty much impossible due to the huge PR hit Method took, and the fact that 2-3 hours is simply not a significant enough advantage to risk it over.

Theory 3: The One-armed Man
Jadelolz wasn't the one that did the deed, but it was a friend/acquaintance of his. He just got sent the screenshot and shared it on the Method Slack and poorly chose his words while celebrating. There's an interview over at Raider's Tavern with someone claiming to be the culprit of it all and explaining his motives, but there's no proof offered that he is, in fact, said person. The story goes that this Isabellab, who was never a member of Serenity nor Method, decided to "even the playing field" after Method had some server lag issues by blocking Serenity from the ID for a "fair" amount of time. After 2-3 hours inside, a GM ported the character out of Nighthold and the account later got banned for 24 hours.

As you'd expect there was even more to it, with people taking images that were purposefully faked to show how easy faking an image of a chat is, as proof that Method were behind it and similar shenanigans, but that's about the whole story. If you want to find out even more (if that's even possible at this point) you can check out the reddit thread dedicated to the topic.
As for us, let's get back to the actual race, shall we?

The first day of Asia server progress wasn't that eventful, with Korean guild AFK R starting strongly and finishing it up at 5/10, taking all 5 Asia first kills. Chinese guilds Style War and Alpha followed closely behind, both ending the day at 4/10, with the former downing Aluriel, while the latter skipped her and went for Krosus. Also, as the Chinese New Year is today, we won't be seeing most of the Chinese guilds around for a few days.

Back in the West Method caught up to the top 3 on 7/10, as expected, followed by From Scratch. Pieces was the next to join the, now 6 strong top group with 7 boss kills, showing off some serious dedication and bringing their guild to the very top of the competition. OC guild Entropy also very recently joined the 7/10 club, grabbing the US/OC second on Botanist along the way. Midwinter follow the top group on 6/10, with 10 guilds on 5/10, 14 on 4/10, 167 on 3/10, only 37 on 2/10 and 84 with only Skorpyron down.

We also saw the release of the first two boss World First kill videos, which you can check out in the image above, and Limit's WF Tichondrius:

So, no new World First today, but plenty of drama, catching up and finding out that Spellblade Aluriel is actually skippable. We now have seven guilds at the very top, on Star Augur Etraeus, who has proven to be at least somewhat of a challenge for these insanely hardcore guilds, which bodes well for the rest of Nighthold, and Gul'dan in particular. As usual, the facts were taken from Method.gg's progress coverage and you should check them out if you want more details and live coverage. We'll see you in the next update!

I wonder if anyone will accept the fact when Method gets the World first.

I don't see any resolution of this matter, in fact Serenity lost a lot of time they were ahead of the others.

Anyways let's hope the raid will not be done in this reset :D

This is goin to get gooooood. I am more in favour of Method because I am not a big fan of Slootbag. Something about him has always rubbed me the wrong way and I can't understand what

We used to drag the green dragons through the other guilds set-up sites to stop them from getting kills.  It's all just gamesmanship, although actually hijacking an ID like that is pretty sad.

Agreed there is a certain point where one has to sit back and remember this is a game. Unfortunately people personally invest a bit too much of themselves into it and pull stuff like this. It's not an impressive stunt or a well planned political upheaval. You sat in an empty room for 2 hours to prevent someone else from playing a game so that your buddies could beat it first. In the grand scheme of life, its is really sad. Even more considering the race to world first is simply for bragging rights and to try and sell carries, little else.

Also didn't a lot of shenanigans like this happen in WoD with Highmaul and BrF?

as soon as you said "x serenity member" i beleived he did it on his own accord 100%

having to leave a guild and go to their rival will make anyone mad, and i for sure think it was jades doing on his own, speaking that people seem confused in the chat, yes they laugh but as you see people dident know, so it seems like it wasent a set up

Honestly I doubt anyone objective a) thinks Method had anything to do with it as a guild and b) thinks 2-3 hours is a big enough deal to claim invalid WF. The only way I can see this REALLY being significant is if Method (or anyone else for that matter) gets Gul+da WF and then Serenity gets it under 2 hrs after that, which is pretty unlikely if the raid goes more than 1 reset.

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
