Wailing Caverns is the first Pet Battle Dungeon coming in Patch 7.2 and Blizzard has published an official preview of the scenario.

Marshal your menagerie and stock up on stones—in Patch 7.2: The Tomb of Sargeras, we're calling you back to the Wailing Caverns to delve into the depths of a pet battle dungeon! This all-new pat battling experience comes complete with a weekly challenge quest, a chance to grab three new pets, and a shadowy figure who warns of more to come.

Ok. What is a pet battle dungeon?
It’s a fight to the death! But not your death—the death of your enemy battle pet. . . hopefully.

^^ Such drama. What do I have to do?
Start by visiting Breanni’s Magical Menagerie in Dalaran in the Broken Isles. Speak to Serr’ah (Horde) or Lio the Lioness (Alliance) and pick up a quest: A Call From The Caverns. The quest warns of disturbing corruption and deviant creatures running amok. Your help is urgently needed at the Wailing Caverns.

The Wailing Caverns? That’s a bit of a trek, right?
Not really. Just take the portal in Dalaran to your faction shrine in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. On the ledge outside you'll find a gnome who sells a portal to Ratchet for the paltry sum of 10 gold. Done.

So, what do I do when I get there?
Fly to the skull rock formation just outside the Wailing Caverns and speak to Muyani, one of Naralex’s disciples, to enter the dungeon.

How many quests are there?
A one-time quest kicks off the event, then you'll  have one weekly challenge quest. For the weekly challenge you won’t be able to heal or revive your pets once you're in the instance.

Wait. What?
You cannot heal or revive your pets. Look, we did say challenge so we’ve made things. . . challenging.

How many level 25 pets will I need?
You only need one level 25 pet to enter the dungeon for the first time, but we'd definitely advise having three ready to rumble. For the weekly challenge quest you will need a minimum of 15 level 25 pets to complete the dungeon. If you’re new to pet battles, visit WarcraftPets. You’ll find guides on how to get startedcapturing pets, and abilities and strategy.

What do I get?
The first time you complete the dungeon you’re rewarded with an Ultimate Battle Training Stone. This magical stone instantly levels a pet from 1 to 25 and from any quality to rare, which is nice. And because it’s the first time you’ve completed the dungeon, you’re given the option to go straight back in to try the no-heals challenge run. From then on it’s a weekly, account-wide quest which rewards an amazing sack of Damp Pet Supplies!

*heavy silence*
It doesn’t sound like much, but don’t be fooled: among the leveling stones and Pet Charms are three pets: Everliving Spore, Cavern Moccasin and Young Venomfang.

Tell me more about the pet battles?
You don't need to shout! The pet battle dungeon has six stages: three 'regular' enemies and three bosses that become progressively more difficult. The three lead-up enemies all fight with a three-pet formation (with a random backline), while the bosses all fight solo. Some enemy battle pets have Elite or Boss buffs, so they might be common in rarity but you can expect them to pack a punch.

Here's exactly what's gonna go down:
  1. Defeat three common pet teams, led by Deviate Smallclaw, Deviate Chomper and Deviate Flapper. They are from the Beast, Aquatic and Flying families and they've got friends tagging along.
  2. Defeat Son of Skum, the first boss. This is a rare Beast pet who uses Thunderclap to stomp on your entire team. It’s mean, but effective.
  3. Defeat three uncommon pet teams, led by Phyxia, Dreadcoil and Vilefang. They are all serpents from the Beast family and, of course, they bring friends.
  4. Defeat Hiss, a boss from the Beast family. This is an epic pet who uses Squeeze to slow. . . you. . . down. . . for. . . two. . . . . rounds. Painful.
  5. Defeat two rare pet teams, both led by Growing Ectoplasms. These are rare Magic pets who use Evolution to unfairly increase their damage for three rounds. They also bring friends.
  6. The first time you complete this dungeon there is an extra stage here involving a mystery which needs to be solved. More on that below.
  7. Defeat Budding Everliving Spore, the Elemental end-boss of the dungeon. This is a legendary pet who uses a mix of poison and infection to wear you down. Not a nice way to go.

What’s this about a mystery?
Since Naralex was awakened, we’ve been hearing some very strange noises from within the caverns. Some might call it wailing; nominative determinism at its finest. There’s really nothing more to say—you’re going to have to go there yourself and find out. Any other questions?

Sure! What pets will I need to win the fight?
Where’s the fun in that? Go forth! Seek your own path! Or follow an online guide! No judgment here.

Gee, thanks.
You’re welcome! May your battle pets live long and prosper.

I have guild friends who are super stoked about this. I'm not honestly huge into pet battles myself buts its another fun thing to delve into. Whilst this is the first and the beginning of things, I can't help but wish they will then get pet battle raids. Go into mini molten core and fight ragnaros jr XD

If it is as challenging as the celestial tournament from the timeless isles we can all brace ourselves.

I loved the celestial tournament and it took me a long time to finally beat it.

Have over 400 rare lvl 25 pets these days so hopefully I can counter every fight in this new scenario.

Looking forward to it as I am an avid pet brawler and collector. :-)

Not quite, went there the first time it was available on PTR and P/P Emerald Proto-whelp could practically solo all the fights, except the last 3. The 2 blobs (Growing Ectoplasm) were easily handled by the supreme blob killer: Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling. And the final boss is easily soloed by Pandaren Water Spirit.

The 2 (sort of) random backline pets, plus the suspension of healing *can* pose some challenge, but all in all the fights are rather repetitive. You hardly need as profound and elaborate strategy as in the tournament. Especially if you have 400+ max pets :)

That said, it is on PTR, so we will probably see some tweaks and (hopefully) cheese removal.

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
