Hunter DPS help

Hi, I'm an ilvl 542 BM hunter with 10/13 HC. I really do feel like I'm underperforming in most fights and I'm not sure why.

The rotations I use are generally as follows,

 

Burst,

 

virmen's bite 1 sec before pull

Stampede+rapid fire+blood fury

Bestial wrath

serpent sting

kill command

glaive toss

arcane shot until kill command is off CD

kill command

arcane shot until bestial wrath ends

readiness

bestial wrath

kill command

glaive toss

arcane shot until rapid fire ends

rapid fire

arcane shot until kill command is off CD

kill command

serpent sting

 

General rotation,

 

Try to keep focus above 60,

Kill command > glaive toss > Dire beast > arcane shot when focus is above 61

 

Bestial wrath on CD, usual lines up so I cast,

 

Dire beast,

bestial wrath,

kill command,

glaive toss,

arcane shot until kill command is off CD

kill command 

arcane shot

 

I'm not happy with my dps and I have no idea where I'm going wrong, any help would be appreciated thanks

I'm sorry but I'm not in a position to give any specific advice.

 

My main question would be, why do you feel you're underperforming? What are you comparing yourself to?

Looking at Epeen you seem to be on average for heroic modes if not above average. So there is room for improvement but you look to be doing a good job.

 

Hope someone can be more use than myself on this matter.

I was comparing myself to my simcraft results and some of the top hunters in the top raiding guilds

One of the things I feel I'm under-performing in is focus management though

I find comergy works very well as a energy bar addon to help keep track of focus, as focus management makes a vast difference to getting as many KC's as possible.

 

I wouldn't compare to simcraft, it is nice to compare gear choices but its an ideal situation and most ToT fights dont come close to the ideal.

 

You can and should change the settings to make it more realistic but still its not ideal imo.

 

Comparing to top raiders on the other hand is the best way to go.

 

Especially if you can compare logs. See how there dmg is distributed, how many of certain types of shots they do and cd timing and stacking are all things you can compare to your own logs and see what they are doing differently to yourself.

 

This wont help with the focus management as such but will help show if you are casting enough KC's which will be a major factor in your dps.
