The 5.4 Siege pally

Recommended Posts

I was curious how people weigh in on how to handle ret in 5.4.

How many of the Siege of Org fights have more then 1 target?
Siege of Orgrimmar - Zone - World of Warcraft

Immerseus splits in to muiti targets
The Fallen Protectors 3 targets, plus a add summon
Norushen elements of corruption (they may not be stacked)
Sha of Pride periodically summons Manifestations of Pride
Galakras Two guardians keep watch over the Towers above Cannons (doesn't word like there a lot of targets)
Iron Juggernaut appears to be a single target fight
Kor'kron Dark Shaman 2 targets, totems (unsure if effected by aoe damage, or even killable) summons elementals
General Nazgrim will call for the aid of his forces during the battle. At 10% health
Malkorok appears to be singe target
Secured Stockpile of Pandaren Spoils muiti target based on number of crates opened.
Thok the Bloodthirsty Single target
Siegecrafter Blackfuse Disassembled weapons attack players
Skeer the Bloodseeker face three Klaxxi Paragons at any time
Garrosh Hellscream Kor'kron orcs Siege Engineer Minions of Y'Shaarj

There appears to be three single target boss fights, it seems AOE is favored at a glance, PTR testers could weigh in on this and give insight.

I believe Blizzard has this intent as well, gear is aoe focused.:

The Legendary Cloak

Equip: Your damaging attacks have a chance to trigger a Flurry of Xuen, causing you to deal 1 (+ 20% of Attack power) damage to up to 5 enemies in front of you, every 0.3 sec for 3 sec. (Approximately [1.62 + Haste]procs per minute)

Fusion-Fire Core   Trinket

Equip: Your attacks have a (309 / 100)% chance to Cleave, dealing the same damage to up to 5 other nearby targets.

The tier 16 4 set proc

(4) Set: Holy Power consumers have a 25% chance to make your next Divine Storm free and deal 50% more damage.

I could see a effect on stat values, mastery for instance may come out on top.

I also had fun thoughts of wow_icon_inv_glyph_majorpaladin.jpgGlyph of Word of Glory being a possibility in a aoe rotation..

wow_icon_inv_glyph_majorpaladin.jpgGlyph of Word of Glory grants you 3% increased damage, for 6 seconds, for each charge of Holy Power that you use on wow_icon_inv_helmet_96.jpgWord of Glory. This glyph is useful both if you are using Word of Glory to heal injured raid members (making up somewhat for the lost DPS), or if you are using Word of Glory to damage enemies at range (through wow_icon_inv_glyph_majorpaladin.jpgGlyph of Harsh Words).

Paladin

General

  • Sanctity of Battle now also affects the cooldown of Holy Shock.
  • Seal of Insight no longer has a chance to restore mana on attacks.
  • Turn Evil now has a 15-second cooldown.

Holy

  • Mastery: Illuminated Healing no longer activates from periodic healing effects.
  • Divine Plea no longer reduces the amount of healing done, and now restores mana based on the Paladin’s Spirit.
  • Guardian of the Ancient Kings (Holy version) now deals additional healing based on any heal cast by the Paladin for the 15 seconds for the duration of the spell. The Paladin also has 10% additional haste for the duration that the ability is active.
  • Holy Insight now increases the effectiveness of Eternal Flame, Light of Dawn, and Word of Glory by 50%. Effectiveness of other heals are still increased by 25%.
  • Holy Shock's mana cost has been reduced by 50%.
  • Judgment for Holy Paladins now costs 12% of base mana to cast (up from 5% of base mana).

Protection

  • Crusader Strike now applies a Weakened Blows effect to the target for Protection Paladins.
  • Grand Crusader no longer has a chance to activate from Crusader Strike and Hammer of the Righteous, but now has a 30% chance to activate when dodging or parrying a melee attack (up from 12%).
  • Guarded by the Light now restores 15% of the Paladin's maximum mana every 2 seconds (up from 6%).

Retribution

  • Guardian of the Ancient Kings (Retribution version) now has a reduced cooldown of 3 minutes, down from 5 minutes, and the maximum number of stacks has been reduced to 12.
  • Inquisition now lasts 20 seconds per charge of Holy Power consumed, up from 10 seconds.

Talents

  • Burden of Guilt has been replaced with a new talent called Evil is a Point of View.
    • New Talent: Evil is a Point of View. Evil is a Point of View allows the Paladin to use Turn Evil on players and beasts.
  • Eternal Flame's periodic heal-over-time effect now heals for 40% more.
  • Execution Sentence will now immediately damage the target for 5 times the amount of damage that had been dealt by Execution Sentence's most recent periodic effect when dispelled.
    • Stay of Execution will now immediately heal the target for 5 times the amount of healing that had been dealt by Stay of Execution's most recent periodic effect when dispelled.
  • Hand of Purity now reduces damage taken from harmful periodic effects by 80% (up from 70%) and reduces damage taken from harmful periodic effects that cannot be prevented by immunities by 40% (up from 0%).
  • Sacred Shield
    • Holy: Sacred Shield now applies its damage absorption shield immediately, can be active on more than one target at a time, but the talent now costs mana and has 3 charges with a 10-second recharge.
    • Protection: Sacred Shield is 30% less effective.
  • Sanctified Wrath
    • Holy: Sanctified Wrath now also increases the critical strike chance of Holy Shock by 20%.
    • Protection: Sanctified Wrath now causes Judgment to generate 2 Holy Power instead of 1 while Avenging Wrath is active.
  • Selfless Healer in addition to its current effects, now also causes Judgment to generate a charge of Holy Power for Holy Paladins. Stacks of Selfless Healer now reduce the cast time, mana cost, and improve the effectiveness of Divine Light, Flash of Light, and Holy Radiance.
    • Bastion of Glory will now apply Selfless Healer's bonus to healing to the casting Paladin as well as other targets and consume all stacks of Bastion of Glory in the process.
  • Unbreakable Spirit has been simplified. It now reduces the cooldown on Divine Shield, Divine Protection, and Lay on Hands by 50%.

Glyphs

  • New Major Glyphs
    • Glyph of Divine Shield: Removing harmful effects with Divine Shield heals the Paladin for each effect removed. This heal cannot exceed a percentage of the Paladin's maximum health.
    • Glyph of Hand of Sacrifice: Hand of Sacrifice no longer transfers damage taken by the target to the Paladin.
  • Major Glyphs
    • Glyph of Denounce now causes Holy Shock to reduce the cast time of the next Denounce by 0.5 seconds, and the effect can stack up to 3 times.
    • Glyph of Divine Plea now reduces the amount of mana restored and cooldown of Divine Plea by 50%.
    • Glyph of Holy Wrath now also allows Holy Wrath to stun Aberrations.
    • Glyph of Immediate Truth now increases the instant damage done by Seal of Truth 40% (up from 30%).
    • Glyph of Inquisition has been redesigned. The glyph now increases the duration of Inquisition by 30 seconds (up to a maximum of 2 minutes) each time the Paladin lands a killing blow on targets that yield experience or honor.
    • Glyph of Rebuke has been replaced with Glyph of Devotion Aura.
      • Glyph of Devotion Aura causes Devotion Aura to no longer affect party or raid members, but the cooldown is reduced.
    • Glyph of the Alabaster Shield now increases damage for the next Shield of the Righteous by 10% per stack (down from 20% per stack).
    • Glyph of the Battle Healer has been redesigned. The glyph now causes Seal of Insight to no longer heal the Paladin. Instead, a nearby raid or party member will receive healing for 30% of the amount the Paladin would have received from Seal of Insight.
    • Glyph of Turn Evil has been replaced with Glyph of Burden of Guilt.
      • Glyph of Burden of Guilt causes Judgment to reduce the target's movement speed by 50% for 2 seconds.
  • New Minor Glyphs
    • Glyph of the Exorcist: Exorcism will now appear to remove the evil from its target.
    • Glyph of Pillar of Light: Critical heals on other players display a small pillar of light at their location briefly.

A poster on Elitist Jerks gave me some corrections:

The entire fight is an AOE-fest both on the ground and in the towers.

Totems and Elementals aren't killable and the "blood" things that spawn are pretty much lethal for any melee to stand next to, so no AOE there

These are only on the sides of the room and are not AOE-able. Little to zero AOE on this fight depending on tactic used.

But AOE-ing all 3 is wasted damage as they heal up to full when one dies.

For AOE mastery will still be behind haste at least until you get to 50% (haste) after 50% (haste) then yes mastery I think pulls ahead.

For single target it's haste all the way even past 50%.

I can't imagine that the Glyph of Word of Glory would be a dps gain but It's something to think about for sure.

We'll know a lot more once live hits though so this may change once we get all the maths lined out. Check back smile.png

If I recall correctly, on EJ forums it has been discussed that mastery only comes out on top (with a soft cap on haste) if you have the 4piece t16 bonus.

Raid/Class Spots Are Open To Any Applicant If The Player Is The Right Fit
A guild formed with an ambition for progression and a love for M+ we decided to make the move from Silvermoon Alliance and form a guild to take our focus to the next level, Cutting Edge in 10.1 being the next step.
We believe in building a guild by recruit players of a similar goal and mentality whether it be for raiding or for push score in Mythic plus. We value loyalty, honesty and a positive attitude towards setbacks. Communication skills are an absolute must.
      Raid Schedule
      Wednesday 20:30-23:00 Sunday 20:30-23:00
      Current Progression
      9/9HC 5/9M
What are we looking for recruitment wise?
We're currently open to recruiting DPS classes listed above, as we aim to solidify a stable 25-player roster. We're looking to provide competition to existing members and choose the best 25 players to proceed with for next tier.
      Contact Information:
      Discord; tomsen and lora1506
Think you'd be a good fit?
If you believe that you are a player that is looking to achieve the same goals as us then why not contact us and see if we can achieve our goals together!

Heyas all! Just a short video paying homage to all the Protection Paladins out there, Much Love!

Been playing as 29/11/0 so far, extra crit heals is obviously good for keeping my team alive.

However, I never go OOM, so I want to get some more burst damage. What is the best way to make a hybrid paladin?
Holy shock with spell power? I want to do burst damage when my heals get interrupted, so holy shock might be bad.

7 Prot is the bare minimum for me, Imp Freedom is so strong.
18 Prot is also very strong, extra stuns together with grenades is powerful for BGs.
25 Prot for reckoning might be the best burst damage available, you could even heal with a 2hander. But this requires alot of investment and SETUP.

How good is SoC for a 1hander? Spell power gear? Maybe using Thrash Blade to do melee damage while healing geared.

What kind of gear? Spell power or strength?

<Fun is for Casuals> is a serious but casual horde guild on US-Hyjal. We are serious about raiding without the intense hours. Even when recruitment status is none, we will accept exceptional applications for all classes. For a full list of what we're looking for check out https://funisforcasuals.enjin.com .
Our raid times are Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00PM to 8:00PM server (PST) with raid invitations sent out a few minutes prior to that.

We're interested in you if you fit the following criteria:
Raid attendance is essential. We don't want people sitting on the bench but we also want to make sure we're raiding 6 hours per week. We expect you to be available for at least 90% of our raids. Be on time and prepared for raids. This includes flasks and other consumables. Discord is mandatory and a working mic is desired. You're appropriately geared for our current content. Effort and thought have been put into your gear/gem/enchant choices. You wouldn't show up for a job interview looking like a scrub, why would you apply to a guild with improper gems or some insane spec? You're up to date with your class. We expect our raiders to perform to the best of their abilities. You have a computer that's not run with hamster power or requires a hand crank. Some encounters are taxing on a computer's resources so if your toon can't even handle Orgrimmar it's not likely to do well with 20+ whelps that need AOE'ing.
You may be interested in us because:
<Fun is for Casuals> uses the personal loot system. There is no loot council, or DKP. We won't eat your babies the first time you stand in something you have no business being in. Repeatedly do it and we'll break out the bibs and BBQ sauce. We provide a limited amount of consumables and flasks on hard mode raid nights. Discord isn't a circus during raids. We're focused on the job at hand and you should be too. We don't want someone to miss a an interrupt because they were distracted by fart jokes. We are not interested in you if you fit the following criteria:
You roll on BoE items then sell them. Unwilling/unable to spend an entire evening on one boss during progression. While this is rare, it can happen. Drama queens. If you have a problem bring it up to E. This is his job. Don't announce it in guild chat or during a raid. Your issue will have nothing to do with 99% of the guild. You are 17 or younger. We try to keep guild and discord chat PG-13 but occasionally a few four letter words appear out of nowhere. Additionally, we don't want someone's mom interrupting their raiding to get homework or the dishes done. Follow the instructions at https://funisforcasuals.enjin.com/ under the Recruitment tab if you would like to apply.
If you have any question, feel free to contact E. at DbD#1309

      Hey all,

Not new to hearthstone but haven't been playing constantly and just jumping back in towards the end of July.  I am not sure if there's a better name or configuration for this yet but I've had some good luck with it so far.  If nothing else it's just really fun to play for me.
This deck has no duplicates to take advantage of Zephyrs the Great and Sir. Finley of the Sand.

Never posted a deck before so not sure if this is how of the place but feel free to give me constructive feedback.
