Watermasta 7 Report post Posted September 4, 2013 Hey guys, Would it be possible to get a full explanation of what RPPM is? I quit at the end of WOTLK and am just now coming back. What is the difference between ICD and RPPM? How can i go about tracking and utilizing my procs the best? Thanks from a returning player.
Omaric 246 Report post Posted September 4, 2013 RPPM = Real Procs Per Minute It's a system that adds an element of RNG to items. Basically, With these trinkets you can get very lucky, or very unlucky. They are able to proc back to back, but the chances are very low. Whenever they *do* proc, a timer kicks in that reduces its chance to proc again, but doesn't actually disallow it from proc'ing. They are often very unreliable, but can also be extremely overpowered. ICD = Internal Cooldown These trinkets have a static chance to proc. Let's say a given trinket has a 20% chance to proc on spell hit with a 45 second ICD. That's a pretty good chance to proc, but when it does it becomes impossible for it to proc again for the next 45 seconds. These trinkets are very reliable, especially when combined with another trinket on the same ICD. In these cases you can stack buffs for ALL THE POWERS!
Zagam 1,982 Report post Posted September 4, 2013 Can't track RPPM trinkets. You can make a WeakAura for when they proc. You can also get a WeakAura that shows the increased chance for them to proc due to a formula that includes time since last proc. You can get whatever you want, but there's really no way of knowing when your next RPPM trinket proc is coming. ICD trinkets can be tracked via the same method with WeakAuras, but you can also create timer WeakAuras to let you know when a big proc is coming. This allows you to pull resources such as Demonic Fury, Burning Embers, or Soul Shards for a period of time coming when you know you'll have a proc. Bindings of Immerseus is an ICD trinket with a CD of 115 seconds. This is going to be AMAZING for classes with 2 min CDs (hi Warlocks) as it'll line up with those CDs pretty reliably. All the other new trinkets are RPPM trinkets with values near 1.0 meaning your expected, but not actual, proc per minute rate is about 1 every minute.
