Legion Assaults Removed from Pathfinder

Recommended Posts

UMiYlup.jpg

Flying enthusiasts can relax a little, as the requirement to do all 4 of the rotating Legion Assaults is no longer needed to complete Broken Isles Pathfinder, Part TwoBroken Isles Pathfinder, Part Two.

Blizzard LogoOrnyx (source)

We’ve heard a lot of feedback and it’s clear to us that the cyclical Assaults schedule, and the design of the “do all 4” achievement for Pathfinder, weren’t compatible.

World Quests come and go all the time during the day too, while people are at work or asleep, and it’s not a big deal because they’re largely interchangeable. But that would change if we had an achievement required for Pathfinder that asked you to do a specific checklist of world quests. A lot of the stress and concern about “missing” individual Assaults is tied to this achievement, so we’re removing the achievement from Pathfinder via hotfix.

Once this hotfix is active, you will only need to reach Revered with the Armies of Legionfall and fully explore the Broken Shore to earn Legion flying.

The assaults have been out for two days and already they've decided it's too hard to get flying? That just makes it a challenge! When I was on yesterday the first assault was in the middle of the afternoon and then another one was on first thing this morning, I'd already done two. The whole idea of having the pathfinder achievements is so that you have something to work towards and you have to put in effort for, making it this easy just makes it feel like you're buying it with gold again.

But, to be fair, this kind of requirement isn't a test of skill or something to work on, but rather a challenge of semi-scheduled playtime.  I mean, I work from home and still I almost missed today's.

Having the 6-hour window for the daily assault happen in the middle of a normal work/school day is not a challenge.  It's stupid.

Blizzard did say they would be on a rotation and at different times. It's just about being patient.

It should not be a "challenge" to earn flying, every player must be able to get it without any bigger effort. Even very casual players.

I came online yesterday just to read, that there was an aassault at 15:00 and I was on work. That made me angry but at least now comes the solution.

Why is there this tremendous rush for people and Blizzard to push reaching this achievement as quickly as possible?

If you have plenty of time, you get the achievement very quickly. If you do not, and work or whatever, you get the achievement later as the invasions have a rotation. Has it not been like this with everything, and will it not continue to be like that. With plenty of time, you get ingame things quicker.

Not that I mind getting the flying earlier, but reaching the achievement has gotten nerfed so many times now that they might as well just hand it out. I wouldn't have minded to get it a week or two later then those with plenty of spare time.

In Europe on my server (Defias Brotherhood), there has so far been 2 invasions.
The first, yesterday in Val'sharah, started 7 am and ended 1 pm. For me to do that, would directly force me to skip school.

The next, today in Stormheim, started sometime during the night, and ended right about when i woke up at 9AM. For me to do that would mean staying up until at least 3-4 pm, and thus making me unable to properly function at school the next day.

So far, 100% of the cases have meant that most people with an actual life outside of WoW have been unable to do the invasions. I am extremely pleased that they are removing this criteria. Otherwise, i would have had to skip school just to learn flying in a video game.

Let us be real. The expansion has been out since August and our reward when it comes to traveling was getting a bonus to travel speed without an "anti-daze" effect as they made that possible in Warlords of Draenor with the Stables. While I am lucky enough to switch into Prot Specialization and negate that issue, other classes I have played or watched play have been constantly locked in combat to fight off a bunch of mobs that are unnecessary. (this is a minor problem that flying fixes). The new i-lvl scaling makes classes more prone to getting dazed and since this expansion has nothing but mobs everywhere including on main paths (i.e. Broken Shore, Path to EN portal) it gives us the mobility. So I think the rush to flying is the rush to make things less tedious in the grand scheme.

Secondly, the invasions have caused ripples because they do not even reward Legionfall reputation. Why make another tedious catch-up scenario mandatory but not have it help with maximizing the Reputation factor. I would have been fine missing out on the grand scenario to only do the World Quests if they gave decent Reputation....I mean the reputation factor alone is the challenging part because if you are short on time and can get the 5-6 done daily including dropping 2 sets of Legionfall supplies on the board you're making about 750 Rep a day which just to hit revered from 0 it will take 16 days. It is nice to get a few bonuses here and there...

Lastly, I can see both sides of the argument but I will say its not like the Broken Shore is a huge island...Majority of the players have been subjected to riding and whistling around the same zones. Broken Shore is different but it got old quick with the massive mob placement. Its time to let Flying happen. Side note: Flying was always paid for after max level and was only gated for poor players, until Pandaria when it became reputation based to pay for it. WoD and Legion are the first two to introduce the achievement but let us not forget the WoD achievement was way less gated on time.

To reiterate

Why not give everyone flying on 7.2 Day One upon login?

I don't agree with all the whining though. At the end of the day, WoW is just a game and it shouldn't interfere with your real life duties. Can't complete an invasion? Well, Ion said all four zones are cycling every 3 days (at different times)  so that's just a few days, not weeks or months before you're able to fly should you miss one.

What I don't understand is the thought process behind the removal. They could have easily hotfixed invasions so that they'd be up for 12 hours, leaving everyone more than enough time to finish them. The EU invasion that started at 2:00 AM is beyond comprehension.

That's exactly what I was thinking; they may as well have just given us the flying when we got pathfinder part one if it's now this easy. The invasions are a little oddly timed but even if you can't get on for the first in each zone it shouldn't take you more than a week or two to do it. I think making them last twelve hours would've been a better solution, but at this stage for most people it would take longer to hit revered as a casual than it would take to do all four zones. You can see when they're up on the legion companion app and you'll know how much time is left, so you can try and accommodate for that.

When I was up late last night after a raid spamming heroic Eli trying to get heroic convergence, I saw one start at 3am and it had four hours left; that's a totally ridiculous concept and if I hadn't been up late farming I wouldn't have even noticed it, and I can understand the times are odd, so why not extend the times to even just six hours at the very least.

The whole argument that people are coming out with that it ruins the zones and your ability to do world quests while it's on; most people only do world quests for the emissaries now anyway, otherwise it's just tedious farming.

It doesn't matter.  It's stupid to have in-game events timed to take place when the vast majority of the player base is at school or work.

There is absolutely no reason why they couldn't just have it up all day.

Stan, I fully agree with this...instead of removing them completely they could have done a 12-12 rotation 6am-6pmPST and be down from 6pm-6am PST. That way people wouldn't stress as much and still get the achievement, I am more aggravated at the lack of Legionfall reputation. On the other note, I would have been more keen on the Exalted farm if they were going to give Invasions reputation gain. For the first one hitting 1500 rep to any invasion after that being like 500 rep. Any little bit of Rep helps aside from the tedious grind of six-seven World Quests on the Broken Shore for 75 Rep (unbuffed of course)

Personally I'm not overly bothered by flying this week, next week, or next month, but 7.2 has been out for a week now, and feels very lackluster..........

Broken Shore, and a few WQ's, thats it (week 1).

Week 2 - Legion Invasions!!, Yay, oh, hardly anyone has seen them.............

Everything else in the biggest expansion ever - later!!

Oh, you can farm AP, which is a massive grind at the moment, best wait till your AK builds up again............... Snore.............

I'm going to level another alt to give some interest, which really shouldn't be the case 1 week into a major content patch!

I guess i'm the exception to the rule.  I work a relatively normal workday of 8AM to 5PM.  I was lucky enough to get to do the Azsuna invasion on Tuesday, missed the Val'sharah invasion yesterday and did the Stormheim invasion on a different character this morning.  I don't care if it takes me a week or 2 days to complete the achievement, and I don't even care that sometimes I can't do the invasions because of scheduling conflicts.  It'll get done when it gets done, it's a game after all and when everything is said and done my last words won't be "I wish I had legion flying sooner", they should be telling my family how much I love them.

Everyone whining and complaining about legion scheduling conflicts needs to just sit down and shut up, you're putting to much into a game.  WoW was not designed to be real life, it was designed to be a fantasy world for people to escape to when they need a break.

Also it's not like the teams at Blizzard are sitting there with their finger over a button saying "invasion starts..... NOW!"  It's a time based script/algorithm/program that basically computes that time of last event ending was such and such time, therefore, time of next event executing will be between "time" and "time" and it will randomly begin within that window... (or at least that's how as an IT guy I would have programmed it)

Sure they could have hotfixed it to be 12 hours, or twice a day, sure they could have handed out legion flying on day one 7.2, sure they could have given us flying with pathfinder one achievement, but really people are so petty they'll  complain no matter what.   I mean some people would complain if a 5 star Michelin chef gave them a free meal that was worth thousands of dollars.

I honestly wish Blizzard would grow some balls and stand up to it's fan base on some things.  They're designing things this way for a reason so tell people if they want it they have to work for it, or be patient and it will come, instead of catering to the instant gratification stains upon humanity.

Sorry rant over...

I'm guessing the weird times for the invasions are cos they put them to spawn randomly (on the hour), so they'd feel more like an event and out of nowhere.

That and I think also because they're trying to "randomly" fit 4 invasions into a 72 hour period compared to 4 invasions in a 96 hour period which is more mathematically symmetrical.

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
