Genji & Overwatch Map Coming to Heroes

Genji is the next Hero to be added to the game after Cassia. An Overwatch-themed map also seems to be in development.

The first time we stumbled upon Genji was during the Nexus Challenge. A little offtopic, but a new Nexus Challenge is scheduled for April 25.

Genji and the new Overwatch battleground will be revealed on April 17, according to the Heroes 2.0 schedule.

Evidence

A recent video revealed a blurry image of Genji. You can see the Hero between Falstad and Illidan.

Even more images can be found here. That's not the only thing we've got. Redditor tmurch17 signed up for Heroes 2.0 and he received quite an interesting email.

I like Genji and all, but... Another Assassin? They could have added Zenyatta, or Junkrat so we could get the First Overwatch Specialist.

Overwatch map... REALLY curious to see this. Can they somehow do a payload style map? They already "tested" this in the brawl map with blackheart's siege.

Genji isn't what we wanted, but he could have some really interesting mechanics. Curious to see how his reflect works, and he will be incredibly hard to body block. With the heavy CC meta (which I think will always exist as long as CC does) he might not be too terrible. Certainly should be a horrible harasser for back lines everywhere.

Not even mad though, they don't just randomly think "hey this month let's release a overwatch assassin" and finish it that month, ALL of this started months maybe even closer to a year ago in terms of development so delaying something that's finished like that is kinda stupid. Plus at least it's for overwatch and not say WoW.

I'd be super hyped to see a payload map on HotS, even if it was just a Brawl. Could open up a completely new meta for that single map alone! It would either have to be tug of war, or come in two rounds though. 

Ah, Genji, the Japanese Illidan. I started off with Illidan on HotS, thinking I was actually sort of okay with him, but my best friend plays a level 20 Abathur, so I'm probably deluding myself. His kit and popularity should reflect (pun not intended) in HotS.

I want Hanzo instead, so I can autolock him, and then spray, teabag and spray some more. My ultimate is charging!

Some kind of 3D height elements (as that's an important aspect of Overwatch gameplay) on a map would be great, though I'm not sure how it would work out. 

I don't really mind more assassins, though a specialist would certainly be lovely. I mean, the diversity as of now is good, and I don't think it needs to be actively improved yet.

I can't right now, because Hanzo isn't in the game yet, as it would not be BM enough. I will have to rely on spamming sprays until Hanzo is in the game. FeelsBadMan FeelsBadMan

I have only one real argument and a deniable argument to make against Genji being the next hero. The guy sitting on the left edge is playing what looks to be a big pink blob with a dark center which as OW players know, that represents D.Va who was the previous data mined hero that hasn't shown up yet for having a conversation with Kerrigan. I feel like this is more fitting as well since Blizz isn't known for repeating classes on release. This way they still fit the OW theme for the new map then they can fir another assassin in which would be Genji after people wreck the floor with him during OW league. So, I dont think Genji is the next but I do believe it is the one after.

Prepare to be disappointed. I'm nearly certain that will be a staple of most Overwatch HotS cross-over design, especially for the highly mobile fighters from it. All of their attack damage is fairly low though (especially Lucio's), so it's a reasonable trade off to give them the right flavor.

Well, you may be right and I can be wrong or it is just my point of view but in most real time games it is like "Speed and mobility > damage" and since all other heroes (yea yea tracer^^) are not able to do that. even with low damage, the ability to retreat and keep doing damage or hunt and keep doing damage is a bit game breaking imo.

I am not saying those heroes are totally OP or I have no idea how to deal with them but it is often bad feeling when someone manages to kill you not because he plays well but because of a mechanic the game (and all other heroes) were not designed for.

I am not whining, I just hope my point is understandable :)

      A new Heroes of the Storm patch is now available for playtesting on the PTR with many Hero changes and bug fixes. Check out the official PTR notes for more details!
