Recent Actions Against Real-Money Raid Clears

Recommended Posts

bw0wz3J.jpg

Blizzard has recently taken action against accounts that were actively involved in and/or advertising of in-game raid/dungeons clears in exchange for real money.

Such behavior is a clear violation of the Terms of Service and won't be tolerated. On the other hand, buying such service with gold is perfectly fine and won't get you're account suspended.

We’ve recently taken action against a number of accounts that were actively participating in and/or advertising the sale of in-game raid or dungeon clears in exchange for real-world currency. Such behavior is a clear violation of the World of Warcraft Terms of Use.

As a reminder, in order to ensure fair play and competitive integrity, we’re continuing to closely monitor these and other activities that violate the Terms of Use. This includes selling in-game services for real money, exchanging accounts or characters, and other violations. This includes violations done with the intention of gaining a competitive advantage in raid progression (such as the purchase or transfer of geared characters or accounts between owners).

Note that while selling assistance with obtaining items, achievements, PvP rating, or other in-game benefits for real-world currency is against the Terms of Use, selling those things in exchange for in-game gold is perfectly legitimate. Players should not feel as though participating in a “gold run” is going to result in negative action taken against their account.

We’re disappointed to see members of the raiding community participating in behavior that clearly violates the Terms of Use, and want to be clear that such activities will not be tolerated.

i mean the only difference between that and gold runs is blizz not getting a cut on the token sales, otherwise they are saying they are fine with it XD

"paying for raid carries is immoral, wrong, and against our TOS, unless we get a cut, then its fine XD"

*because no-one actually earns the gold via market place or really well written gold making guides on awesome websites*

While I agree with you, I still don't understand the interest in selling raid boss down ???

It's not like [Achivement unlock] *boom b*tch everywhere*

And where is the feeling of greatness and satisfaction when you defeat the last boss ?

But then again if there is demand there is offer...

I think they should condemn both.

There are many people who earn millions on the AH that lack the skill, have a disability or lack the time  ect to raid in a static group.

There should always be legitimate ways to exchange goods or services such as this and using earned in game gold from AH or wow token gold to buy a raid clear or mythic clear should be there for people, This sort of stuff happens in the real world daily so no dont ban legitimate practices such as these.

Also using real world money is a completely different thing and should be against TOS because it endangers the community.

Saying blizz just wants a cut of the pie is not a bad thing because they develop the game and dont want to alienate a massive portion of the community that buy runs legitimately and allow the good players to play for free or feel good about themselves because of the gold they earn.

I think it's more that the transactions happen outside of the game and can't be monitored.

I think it's one of those things where people have more money than sense, but I can understand the temptations behind it. Imagine being in the shoes of a main tank or healer in a raiding guild that isn't cutting edge, but makes a good go at it; the officers agree that the main tanks or whomever could do a couple of boosted with loot runs so that the whole guild can then go on and get by whichever boss is stonewalling them or creating social and chain of command fractures within larger guilds.

I am against using real life money as a rule however, as it entails many different dangers that Blizzard must protect itself and it's customers from, such as account sharing and exchange of bank details and so forth. One of the other problems is that the value of gold in the game has become pretty inflated these days. How much value do you put on a boost when you already have hundreds of thousands of gold in your personal and guild bank?

While I understand that some sell those things to make gold that will pay they playtime and that some can't raid, I still find this disappointing since making gold is just configuring an add-on that makes gold for you.

Raiding should be about challenging yourself and your friends/guildmates, not about having gold.

Well then you can run high mythic + runs with pugs but all you are going to see there is "Boost key +15 bring your key".

I don't see boosting as a good thing at all. It makes both parts happy I understand this but I think you aren't playing a game anymore.

I don't see any fun in paying to get stuff done, this is a "pay to win"

You're criticizing Blizzard for doing what ever other gaming company in the world (almost) does. You're completely missing why companies do this. Fraud. There is no way to Blizzard to follow up if some Chinese company sold you a ToS run and never delivered on what they sold you. With a gold base transaction Blizz can see in the chat log what was offered and see in the transaction log how much changed hands and when. Blizzard doesn't want you to never play WoW again because you paid $20 to get a ToS run and wasted your money.

actually it was meant to be an ironic statement poking fun at all the various discussions that came up since blizz introduced the token system. there's been more than a couple discussions about people opinions on it, so in this case i wanted to be the first to whine and beat people to the punch XD.

This ^ has always been my opinion on at least paying for carries. If you are attempting to be a raider the loot and mounts that follow are the point in playing the game, you drop some money on them, get full mythic gear yay you, what's the point in playing now? its like using a gameshark on a new pokemon game to catch them all at once the point is gone. Now, i can see other places where the real world to virtual money comes in being more sensible, ESO does a good job with it (if not a bit too excessive). You can fast forward some things with real money, i can grind 50 hours to buy a house or just give you 15 bucks, the house is not a main part of the game just extra stuff. So real money for extras makes sense for extra things, vanity items ie maplestory, but to use it to "complete" the game, removes the point in playing to me.

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

For the next two weeks, the Archaeology quest for Spirit of Eche'ro is available on live servers, so don't forget to get the rare mount before it's gone for 6 months!
How to Get the Spirit of Eche'ro Mount
      1. Download MapCoords or some other add-os that displays coordinates in the game.
      2. Teleport to Azsuna from the Stormwind/Orgrimmar Portal Room or use your Dalaran Hearthstone to reach Dalaran (Legion) if you have one in your inventory.
      3. Seek out Archaeology Trainer Dariness the Learned in Dalaran at 41,26 and learn Archaeology if you already haven't.
      4. Accept The Right Path quest from the Archaeology Trainer and make your way to Thunder Totem in Highmountain.
      5. Talk to Lessah Moonwater to accept Laying to Rest. For the quest, you must collect 600 Bone Fragments of Eche'ro by rotating between four digsites in Highmountain. The exact locations with coords are outlined below.
Digsite 1: Darkfeather Valley (50, 44) Digsite 2: Dragon's Falls (58, 72) Digsite 3: Path of Huin (44, 72) Digsite 4: Whitewater Wash (39, 65) it takes roughly around 2 hours to get the mount.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
