Patch 7.3: Antorus & The Pantheon

Recommended Posts

ZUCn3Pm.jpg

A write-up about possible lore spoilers involving the Pantheon in Antorus, the Burning Throne raid.

Spoiler Alert

This article is full of spoilers about Antorus, the Burning Throne raid.

In Antorus, players will gain helpful assistance of the Pantheon to once and for all put an end to the Legion and stop Sargeras, who wants to use their souls to rebirth Pantheon.

Eonar, the Lifebinder

Taken from the in-game journal:

The forces of the Legion will warp in and charge at Eonar's Essence and attempt to destroy her outright. Players must defend Eonar until she can gather her energies and strike back at her attackers.

Based on the leaked conversation lines, we know that Eonar is the key to Sargeras's' plan and we will defend her Essence before she turns into a physical manifestation.

Taken from the leaked conversation lines (posted here, credits go to MMO-Champion)

Essence of Eonar: The tormented cries of the Pantheon ring out from deep within the core of Argus.
Essence of Eonar: If Sargeras breaks them as he did Aggramar, no power in this universe will stop him.
Essence of Eonar: Release them, champions, or your struggle will be for naught.

What Sargeras is up to?

It seems he wants to rebirth the Pantheon or use their souls to awaken Argus.

Aggramar talking to Sargeras

Aggramar: What is your bidding, master?
Voice of Sargeras: The circle nears completion. The mortals must not disrupt the rebirth.
Aggramar: Those who will not serve shall be destroyed. It is the only way.
Voice of Sargeras: Become the instrument of my wrath once again, Aggramar. End this incursion of the Light.
Voice of Sargeras: The hour of rebirth draws near. Are the souls prepared?
Aggramar: Our kin still resist the true path, master. But they will soon be broken.
Voice of Sargeras: One still eludes us. Her essence is needed to ensure the victory of my crusade.
Aggramar: The Life-Binder will soon reveal herself. She will not escape me, master!
Voice of Sargeras: When my new Pantheon rises, no power in the universe will stand against the Legion!

Aggramar talking to players

Aggramar: Mortals. I wasted millennia fighting to spare you from corruption. Until at last my eyes were opened to the truth.
Aggramar: You are the corruption. We will save the universe by wiping all memory of you from existence.
Aggramar: Soon comes the awakening of my brother, Argus. Together, our new Pantheon will join the master in breaking your fetid world. But you will not live to see it.

We learn from the journal that the Coven of Shivarra are responsible for torturing Titan souls & Varimathras

The Coven of Shivarra

Shivarra Priestesses, tasked with torturing and brainwashing the souls of the mighty Titans, assault the raid together from within their temple, deep within the core of Argus. It's important to note that the Coven of Shivarra designed Varimathras' cell to torture him for all time.

  • Noura, Mother of Flames
  • Asara, Mother of Night
  • Diima, Mother of Gloom
  • Thu'raya, Mother of the Cosmos

Legion's Ending

Amanthul's voice is heard, telling everyone they want to use the last glimmer of Argus's power to bind him at the Seat of the Pantheon and he tells players to return home and protect the last titan (Azeroth).

Prophet Velen: Sargeras will soon undo all we have fought for.
Voice of Amanthul: No.
Voice of Amanthul: We will use the last glimmer of Argus's power to bind him here. The Seat of the Pantheon shall become Sargeras's prison... and ours as well.
Prophet Velen: You would condemn yourselves to stop him?
Illidan Stormrage: Our world must survive... no matter the cost!
Voice of Amanthul: A sacrifice must be made.
Voice of Amanthul: Return home, children of Azeroth. Protect the final titan.
High Exarch Turalyon: Prophet... what happened out there?
Prophet Velen: Illidan serves as the Dark Titan's jailer. His sacrifice has ended the Legion. At long last, the Burning Crusade... is over.

Argus Titan Models

There are two different models for Argus.

  • The first one is simply called Argus and the second one is Antorus's final boss Argus the Unmaker
  • We never heard about "Argus the Unmaker", so this titan has probably been artificially constructed as a new host for Sargeras's soul

The Pantheon

The following titans will appear in Antorus and have in-game models for both their physical manifestations and souls:

Aggramar // He has no soul :(

Aman'thul // Aman'thul's Soul

His soul is somewhat special, because it's transparent at times.

For all the years that warcraft has had us players fighting the Legion in one form or another. When its all over I hope there is one Hell of a cinematic. One that at least last a few minutes and give us that feeling that it is "really" over this time. Not just a "BIG" GAME OVER screen and then the credits roll. That would be so disappointing.

Like this but then as an outro? Including the same music, of course.

Being a super WoW lore geek, I have no words to describe how happy this makes me feel.  The possible rebirth of the Panth and having anything to do with Sargeras' demise once and for all would be amazing!

as exciting as this all is I feel blizz really needs to deliver hard when it comes to the next expansion. Since WC3 so about 15 years it's all been the burning legion. The all but guaranteed next bag guys being void lords came about from a lore retcon in one book of several blizz has done. It's almost a cheesy action movie plot or the same plot we've seen a million times in rpgs "haha you thought they were the true bad guy when it was really me!!!". As it stands fighting the void etc just sounds unappealing to me. Plus the comics already spoiled what happens in many aspects so we know the goal its just the path to get there. Now of course a nzoth old god themed expac could be cool, it's a last leg kinda thing. So while legion plot wise is amazing, and what is to come looks great, looking further down the road blizz will really need to wow us.

do you......... do you see what i did there :D

This is a major problem WoW will face in 2-3 expansions. The lore is limited! They've already now given away all the weapons you ever wanted to wield with the artifact and skins system, so the lore is even tapped out in that manner. Maybe they invent something completely new, but also maybe the Lore isn't critical anymore... It has to be involved, but it's not more important than the polished game play itself.

Fighting against titans is not the end game, there is more lore behind.

There's always a bigger boss to be defeated!

Just you wait and see! Eventually we'll be fighting air itself, stabbing at random space trying to defeat all the oxygen in the universe.

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
