tellx 0 Report post Posted September 23, 2013 Hi, On the gemming guide for arcane mages it says that if you are having trouble reaching the hit cap then to use either "keen vermilion onyx" or "perfect keen tiger opal". These are both expertise / mastery gems. Surely "veiled imperial amethyst" or "perfect veiled roguestone" would be better? Cheers, Tellx
alexle 0 Report post Posted September 23, 2013 The idea is you have to stack as much masery as possible as an arcane mage, you might lose some int, in return, you gain abit more mastery.
Brown 14 Report post Posted September 23, 2013 While I don't play a mage, I presume the reasoning is similar to why warlocks gem exp/mastery or exp/haste: for higher item levels, secondary stats from gems provide a larger DPS gain as the weight of secondary stats overtakes intellect. Using the expertise gems provides the same amount of hit that you can reforge or not have to worry about when getting upgrades while giving you valuable secondary stats.
Belicosa 11 Report post Posted October 1, 2013 exp = hit, allowing you to reforge more mastery. I almost never use the red int gem any more.
