Kharbomb 0 Report post Posted July 28, 2017 I am a very fresh, and confused, new Monk. After getting my Mistweaving Artifact, during the encounter, I actually enjoyed healing. AndTHISis a first! I've always wanted to be a healer, but never have... since Vanilla. So that being said... what is Fistweaving? I've read a little about it, and the main guides here don't do it justice. So can anyone tell me? Give me the insight to peer past this mist that envelops how to be a healer and not swim in a sea of suck at it? Anything? Please? Any and all positive comments and ect will be greatly valued and appreciated!

Hey Kharbomb Fistweaving, in its current form, is mixing your melee talents (things you use in windwalker spec: tiger palm, blackout kick, rising sun kick) with your healing rotation. In the old days, your DPS in healing spec returned = amount of damage done as "smart heals" to your group, which was copied by your jade statue. Since the monk rework this is no longer true. Now instead, it's a great way to regenerate mana and refresh the cooldown of your Thunder Focus Tea by using the talents at 45 (Spirit of the Crane) and 100 (Rising Thunder), respectively. If you choose these talents, they take the place of traditional mana saving talents in life cycles and mana tea and as such, your mana regen will be severely hindered if you don't use the melee abilities to supplement. In essence, you use Tiger Palm to generate stacks of Teachings of the Monastery which makes your next black out kick hit up to 3 extra times per use, the talent then returns mana based on the number of extra hits you do. So, In lieu of healing output, you can spend time adding DPS to the target to regen mana you've spent. to offset your lost healing throughput while using your melee abilities you can choose to take Rising thunder at level 100 which resets your thunder focus tea every time you use rising sun kick. The CD on RSK is much shorter than the CD of Thunder focus tea just a little under half, which is great on its own, right? (in his best Billy Mays voice) But wait, there's more! MW get the added innate bonus of gives black out kick a chance to reset rising sun kick and each application of teachings, which makes your blackout kick hit for up to 3 extra times, has this chance too. Thus, you can see that by spending a few extra seconds meleeing instead of healing you can reset a very powerful CD while recouping some mana. I don't know if that's any clearer than what you've read but I can say that it is the most fun I've had as a healer. All of the monk's ability as a healer focus around being in the melee group anyways (the breath from your artifact, rushing jade winds, the burst from your mastery) and so adding some DPS in there feels good too. As a Fistweaver, I am usually midrange in heals on the meters (behind paladins especially) but in terms of DPS, I'm usually at or above the level of the tank's DPS which in a close fight, can turn the tables in your favor.
