Question about Legion

I just returned from a 14-month absence.

I hate melee and am lousy at it, so I prefer my characters to be ranged.

I did start a Demon Hunter before I left WoW, but he's still a level 100 and will not get any higher.

Instead of occupying a slot I can use for another ranged character, I'm thinking about deleting him.

I just wanted to make sure that there is no requirement that you must have a Demon Hunter if you have Legion, or vice versa.
