Low dps without DA

Hey!

I feel like i'm doing low dps without my DA, for example, in the 20 seconds (when my DA is up) of the battle my dps goes to 1.1mil +/-, but after that my dps simply decreases a lot.

When i'm killing some single targets mobs in m+, which i usually don't use DA, my dps barely reach the 600k. Is that normal DKs being so dependant on DA? Or am i doing something wrong/bad stats?

Could you post a log rather than an armory link? It'd be a lot easier to just see if you are doing something wrong rotation-wise with a log :)

Your stats are quite bad. Try to get 20,5% haste, or slightly above. Also prioritize mastery over crit after you get the haste done. Then you need to aim for perfection with your rotation and keep the dps up at all times.

 

Dungeon mobs are not ideal targets for unholy dk because of significant ramp up time. I would personally use aoe build for dungeons, such as epidemic and defile, instead of DA.

I can pull around 1-1.2m dps for boss with cooldowns and also great aoe with 915ilvl.

I can't help but wonder where you got the number 20.5% from - it's a completely meaningless number for an Unholy Death Knight. For DA, you'll get an extra hit at 14.83%, 17.78% (during Heroism), 24.40%, 25.14% (during Heroism) and so on. Realistic Haste breakpoints for UH will rest at 25% and 35% assuming use of DA.

20.5% is definitely not a breakpoint.

From sims, the OP should be gearing for the following weights: Strength=20.80, CritRating=17.68, HasteRating=19.04, MasteryRating=21.23, Versatility=17.14

This means: Mastery > Str > Haste > Crit >= Vers

Please do not spread misinformation.

Thanks for that one @Blainie, there is so much weird stuff being said about Haste breakpoints so it's great that you stated it again. To OP, What Blainie said is probably the most impactful change you can make, but apart from that you got to keep in mind that DA Unholy is a cooldown based spec, which means it's definitely normal that your DPS peaks when DA is up. When you take a look at top DK's you will find that their damage within and -out of the DA window is massively different, so there is nothing to worry about in that regard.

Haste breaks are always a hot topic for random numbers to be thrown around, so it's good to have some on hand :p
