carnifax 1 Report post Posted October 29, 2017 Just joined. I have been using icy veins and Mr Robot for a while to optimize my character. My raid group says I can get better, but is it my rotation or my equipment? Advice would be apprecieated.

Can you post a link to your armory and a log of yours? If you're unsure of how to grab a log, you can read about it here: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/help/start/ At the moment, there's no information to help you with. With more, we'd be happy to help :)

Removed your link to add this one, since yours linked to a HPS (heal per second) set of rankings for your character. This is your set of DPS rankings: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/rankings/character/9188381/13#difficulty=4&class=Hunter&spec=BeastMastery&metric=dps Depending on when he's next online, I'm sure @Luthixx can take a look and give you a hand with it. He's one of our mods and specialises in BM :)
Khallid 110 Report post Posted October 30, 2017 Your raiding group is not particularly impressive, so just tell them to lay off if they tell you to improve your dps. However, there are a lot of things to improve on your character anyway. You're wearing some of the worst legendaries. I'm simply going to assume you don't have any better. Your stats are badly optimized and your build is outdated. The top build right now is to use Stomp, One with the Pack and the Tier 19 2-piece (along with Tier 20 4-piece), and high critical hit chance, along with the legendary boots and Sephuz ring. Maybe you just don't have Tier 19, but it's easy to join heroic Nighthold pugs to be honest. However, since you're using Dire Frenzy + Bestial Fury your build works best with the legendary belt and low critical hit chance, high Haste/Mastery. You have too much crit for a build that doesn't work on crit. Also never wear a neck (or rings) with versatility on it. Just don't. I'm not a fan of the Engine of Erradication. It sims well but it's easy to miss and it distracts from boss mechanics. I recommend rolling Relinquished Trinkets. The Unstable Arcanocrystal is the best for BM right now, followed by simple stasticks. Also note that since your entire group is weak your kill times are very very long. And the longer a fight drags on the lower your dps will look. Although your opener is still looking low. You also don't seem to be using potions, that's a lot of dps loss. Potion of Prolonged power gives 2500 Agility for a minute, and it goes up to 2 minutes if you prepot (you cast the potion a few seconds before the combat starts so you can use it a second time during the fight).
carnifax 1 Report post Posted October 31, 2017 Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I'm going to work on my rotation and see if I can get the T19 set. I'll play around with the legendaries. I've been using Mr. Robot lately and have pawn for quick assessments. Any thoughts on using Mr. Robot effectively?

I personally normally use the SimCraft addon and RaidBots (https://www.raidbots.com/simbot) for gear comparison and upgrades. I don't really use AMR at all, but I'd recommend checking out RB.
Luthixx 138 Report post Posted October 31, 2017 Don't use Dire Stable - it's a significant DPS loss. If you need the focus gen, you're not utilising your BW windows properly. Before casting BW you want to pool as much focus as possible and finish it with as little as possible. Unless you're using Stomp/OWtP you could do to dump a huge chunk of your crit and get some haste/mastery. If you do choose to go through that talent path then you need 2pc T19 and better legendaries. I don't know if it's purely because you don't have better, but your current legendaries sim amongst the absolute lowest for BM. As Khallid said, your best bet for good trinkets is to just farm the living daylights out of Argus rares and world quests and farm Relinquished trinkets - I currently run a 930 and 935 haste and mastery respectively statstick combo. The only thing that sims better is a 910+ Arcanocrystal, which still eludes me! You're in a heroic guild, so dps really doesn't matter, and even if it did you're certainly not the worst in your raid group that's for sure. Everyone in your raid team could stand to look at this website and the guides and forums and follow the advice laid out.
carnifax 1 Report post Posted November 1, 2017 Thanks again. Dire Stable is now Way of the Cobra. I've switched to Roar of the Seven Lions and Apex Predator's Claw. My trinkets are Cradle of Anguish and Tome of Unraveling Sanity. I'll see what happens in this week's heroic ToS runs. And I'll certainly start farming more. It's by far my least favorite trinket this tier, since it sucks on any difficult fight, and those are the ones where it matters. On heroic the uptime is particularly bad for Kil'Jaeden, but it's also not great on Avatar or Maiden. It incentivizes you to not want to soak, which is bad for the group. The sims don't reflect it because they assume you get 100% uptime. The Tome is good though. Wait you do have other legendaries? Soul of the Huntmaster should work better than Apex with that build, if you have it. Edited November 1, 2017 by Khallid

Agreed, I love it when it has high uptime but only use it on farm bosses because of its mechanics.
carnifax 1 Report post Posted November 3, 2017 I've swapped Soul of the Huntmaster in for Apex. I currently have the following legendaries: Shadow Hunter's Voodoo Mask, Prydaz, Mantle of Command, Roar of 7 Lions, Qa'Pla, Sephuz, Kil'jaden's Burning Wish, and Apex. BTW ran first 6 bosses in heroic ToS last night - noticeable improvement so far. Prepotting prolonged power is a great trick, really helps when I want a boost for a strong boss. THX! YrogergKorgath 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2017 2026043 posts 1 sec ago i have noticed a few things in playing the hunter class. my understanding may not be entirely accurate, and this is gear dependent, but here goes a few "field rules"... even though stat priority for mm lonewolfe is mastery>agility>crit>haste >versatility mastery should be 25% minimum ( 100 % increase) Agility is gear dependent on item level Haste should be about 22% which would give you an aimed shot, not proc cast time of 1.64 to allow for a 3 shot proc crit : stat should be tiered at 20%, 25% 33% or 50% (which is normally unobtainable ) versatility at 5% trinkets vary, so try to obtain stats without trinkets 1sy, and only use trinkets as a filler and attribute again, this is gear dependant. but i do pull 1.15 mil dps so it may work for you
