Nice setup with karini. A build alternative could be hergbrash binding for AP and arlyse/apd combo. Toughness is equally good and you could drop familiar for frozen nova/bone chill. Halo nova will get it and since it's the only debuff, that's 33% improved dps, a 2 gr level increase. Leaderboards will let us know soon enough.

Damn very strong build. As I have troubles surviving GR 60-70 with Frenzy LoN barb this one got me to 85+ in no time. Huge toughness and dmg (playing Tal Rasha variant)

I've tried arlyse/ice armor/parthan vs storm armor/karini/ashnagarr's and the latter is more survivable, and it's not even close. With the former I struggled with T13 and with the latter 70s GRs are a cakewalk with pretty bad gear.

In speedfarming variant I would change cubed Aquila for Goldwrap as I'm far from having max Power all the time. Also Mantle of Channeling doesn't give any bonus as it is no longer channeling build but maybe it is here for stats

How exactly does Ashnagarr work in this build? Does Storm Armor shock nearby enemies more often with it equipped (in order to activate Halo of Karnini more often)?

It doubles the shield from magic weapon/deflection. Since you channel, it's constantly renewed, providing a very respectable buff to toughness

You can fill shoulders as you wish, you could use Skeleton King even. It's mainly there as a stat filler.

Is it possible for wizards to find their play in the group meta as a secondary dps? Or am i hoping too much? Great guide btw, i am currently running the twister version of the exact same build not as powerful as meteor but it still does the trick untill i get an ancient deathwish sword.

This thread is for comments about our Meteor Wizard build.

For the Tal Rasha build, the storm armor already covers the lightning damage and proc. There's no need to use lightning rune on Arcane Torrent. I've been having no issues running Ray of Frost(Cold Blood) to cover Ice proc, Meteor(Meteor Shower) to cover fire proc, Familiar(Arcanot) to cover Arcane proc, and Storm Armor(Power of the Storm) to cover lightning proc.  And keeping Magic Weapon(Deflection) and Teleport(Safe Passage).  The combination of the cheaper Ray or frost with power of the storm and Arcanot means Arcane Power is never an issue.

Except that you really really don't do that. Neither Familiar nor Storm armor proc Tal 6. It has always been this way, I just re-tested and anyone with 20 seconds to spare will confirm it.

I am playing on the Xbox one console and am rank 18 using this build for wizards clearing GR 92 yesterday. I am using the old build, with karini/familiar/storm armor. I tried replacing with the updated version and I feel I get killed too fast and I can't stand still at all; which kinda beats the purpose.

I want to push higher so I can climb more on the leaderboards. Is the ice Armour/arsyle build supposed to be stronger and I'm not playing it right? Or should I stick to current build and try to improve gear.

By the way love this build, you're awesome deadset!

Also is the DMO Wizard capable of clearing higher rifts? I might switch to that since it shows High tier for that build. Although I don't see any on the current leaderboards

I have this issue as well. Freezing mobs for free is great, but I get absolutely annihilated by anything ranged (especially those spear throwers) unless I run Storm Armor and Karini.

I just made a Meteor Wizard yesterday.  I notice in videos that there is a buff tool tip that shows the number of enemies that are ignited up to the max of 20, but I don't have it on my screen.  I have the 6 piece set bonus and all the correct gear.  Is there an option i need to select to show this or are they not getting ignited?  It shows all my other buff tool tips.

Simply put, no. Necro + WD is just far too strong. You can in 90 speeds, but they will be slower. I'd recommend build a support wizard build if you want to push higher GRs. I'm in the same position as a DH, playing support DH :)

Yes, but it's harder to gear than Firebird, since you have passive cheat death with FB.

Cleared a 90 today with Firebirds. Karini is a must for me. The ice armor variant I die so fast.

I know that there was a reported issue of it being broken for loads of people last year, but I thought it was fixed. I can't think of any reason it shouldn't display for you - are you running the exact setup we have?

I just did a 102 with the Twister Wizard build using DMO set which brought me to rank 8, and I'm at 850 paragon with pretty average gear I'd say. Not sure why this build is not highlighted in this season, it looks like majority of the console players are running it and have hit a GR110.

I also looked at the PC leader boards and most of them are running the Tal variant of Meteor Wiz. Does this build have high GR push potential?

Gonna try the frozen orb to see where it stands compared to the others

Basically just because the Frozen Orb variant is better than the Twister one. It might be better on console due to not having to aim the Twisters, but on PC, Frozen Orb DMO is better.

Top 4 out of 5 on EU Wiz leaderboards are running Firebird's Meteor.

That's interesting as I was looking at US leaderboards. Thanks for the info!

A brand new season arrives in Diablo 3 next month! Blizzard have the full preview ready so let's take a look at the cosmetic rewards, season journey, Haedrig's Gift sets, and more!
      Season 33 (Source)
Sanctuary needs you to answer its call for aid in Season 33: Shades of the Nephalem. Starting on October 25 at 5 p.m. PDT/CET/KST, Nephalem can harness the power of the Shades of the Nephalem theme, which first debuted with Season 22. For an in-depth look at what’s coming, take a gander below. Also, Season 32 will officially come to an end on October 20. Seasonal Journey
      Season Theme
      Season Cosmetic Rewards
      Season Journey Rewards
      Seasonal Conquest
      Haedrig’s Gift
      Patch 2.7.8
      Season Theme
The shadows, they are moving, and they seem… animated. Like they have a will of their own. Whatever this trickery is, perhaps you can use it to your advantage. Let’s see what the demons say when you fight side by side with your own shadow! Shadows of the Past: Activating a Shrine/Pylon will spawn in a shadow clone of your class, who will come with a randomly chosen 1 of 3 predetermined builds. This clone's power will scale with your character and will last for 1 minute (unless your character dies). See this article for the shadow clone variations that can spawn when activating. Kanai’s Cube: Kanai’s Cube will have a fourth slot this season. This fourth slot will have the choices of the first 3 slots but will not stack with any of them, providing additional flexibility to your build. Return to Top Season Cosmetic Rewards
Beginning with Season 17, we began re-introducing previous Seasonal rewards to make them available to any who may have missed them the first time around. For Season 33, this means awards originally available from Season 9 are returning to the Season Journey. However, we know it’s nice to have something new to aim for if you’ve already participated in previous Seasons. We’re continuing to provide new End of Journey rewards as introduced in Season 17, with two new cosmetic rewards for those who complete the entirety of the Season journey. Prove your worth in the Trial of Tempests to earn the Stupendous Contraption pet and the Industrial Portrait Frame.
In addition to the Chest and Gloves slots of the exclusive Conqueror Set, you’ll be able to earn the Pandemonium portraits, and the cute and craggily Rocky pet first introduced in Season 9. Return to Top Season Journey Rewards
If you’ve been diligently slaying demons before and reached Conqueror in the Season Journey each time, you’ve surely accrued a few extra stash tabs. You’ll earn one additional tab each Season by finishing the Conqueror tier, up to a maximum of five: Guardian of Sanctuary: Finish a Level 70 Nephalem Rift on Torment XIII difficulty within five minutes. Gem of My Life: Level three Legendary Gems to level 55. All I Do is Win: Complete 2 Conquests this Season. Life Goes On: Kill Maghda at Level 70 in under fifteen seconds on Torment XIII difficulty. Money Ain’t a Thang: Slay Greed on Torment XIII difficulty. Treasure Goblins outside of Nephalem Rifts will sometimes open portals to Greed’s domain, The Vault. Take U There: Reach Greater Rift Level 60 Solo. Greater Rift keystones can be obtained from any Nephalem Rift guardian. Power Amplification: Use Kanai’s Cube to augment an Ancient Legendary item with a Level 50+ gem. Cubic Reconfiguration: Use Kanai’s Cube to reforge a Legendary item. Return to Top Seasonal Conquest
Want to prepare your Conquest plan for Season 33? Here are the challenges you’ll face: For Curses!/Stars Align, pick any Cursed Chest event that requires killing monsters and defeat over 350 or more at level 70 on Torment X or higher. Also returning for Season 33 is Sprinter/Speed Racer, where you’re challenged to complete the entire Diablo III campaign from Act I to Act V at Level 70 in under an hour! Next is Avarice/Avaritia, where all that glitters is gold—that is, if you can complete a 50 million Gold streak outside of The Vault or its Inner Sanctum. We're also bringing Thrill/Superhuman, which requires completion of a Greater Rift Level 45—solo and without any Set items equipped. And lastly we'll be bringing back Speed Demon/Need for Speed, meaning you'll need to beat a Torment X Nephalem Rift at Level 70 in 2 minutes. Best of luck! Return to Top Haedrig’s Gift
Finally, the Class Sets rewarded for completing certain chapters in the Season Journey courtesy of Haedrig’s Gift have rotated once more. We’ve listed the available Sets below. For those new to Seasons, here’s how it works: Completing Acts II, III, and IV of the Season Journey will reward you with three of Haedrig’s Gifts. Each Gift contains a few pieces from one of your Class Sets. Players can only unlock one Class Set in this manner per Season across Hardcore and Non-Hardcore, so choose wisely! The set you receive depends on the class of the character you’re playing when you open each Haedrig’s Gift. To collect a full Class Set, you’ll need to open all three on the same character. Here are the sets granted by Haedrig’s Gift in Season 33: Barbarian - Might of the Earth Crusader - Thorns of the Invoker Demon Hunter - The Shadow's Mantle Monk - Monkey King's Garb Witch Doctor - Raiment of the Jade Harvester Wizard - Firebird's Finery Necromancer - Grace of Inarius Return to Top Patch 2.7.8

New Mac Executables/Mac Native Silicon and Intel: These updates will allow Diablo III to run on new versions of the macOS. PC Experience Stability: This PTR is open to both Mac and PC players. Season 32 of Diablo 3, Ethereal Memory, will go live later today, and we have prepared a list of various useful and updated guides to help you get started!
The Season of Ethereal Memory will start later today at 5 p.m. PDT (NA Servers), 5 p.m. CEST (EU Servers), and 5 p.m. KST (Asian Servers). The theme of Season 32 was first introduced with Season 24 and is now back for another round!
      What are Ethereal Memories?
The theme of the season reintroduces the Ethereals, which are rare and powerful items known from Diablo II and reimagined for Diablo III. You will be able to hunt for all 21 iconic weapons of Diablo 2 during the season, but this time they will be harder to find and will only drop in Ancient or Primal rarity!

To help you with the start of this new season, our team has been busy updating all of our Diablo 3 guides to reflect all the changes ahead of the season launch. You can find our Season 32 Hub, as well as guides for leveling, the season mechanic, rankings, season start guides for each class, and even conquest guides, in the list below.
General Season Guides Our Season 32 guides include all the information you need to know, from Haedrig's Gift sets to SSF and season mechanic explanations:

Previous season items make their return this season. If you missed out on rewards originally available in Season 8, you will be able to get them this time. Furthermore, the end of journey rewards (originally introduced in Season 17) are back: The Teganze Warrior portrait frame and the Bat pet!

As an interesting side note, the portrait frame you can earn this season is named after Teganze, a zone that was first introduced in Diablo 2 and will be revisited during our journey in the upcoming expansion of Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred!
