I was wondering. There was a talk about a ring to replace unity. In Tal Rasha version, you constantly channel lightning skill, so why not Manald HealManald Heal?

Bad choice, without synergies it has horrible damage and lower proc for channeled skills makes it even worse. Go oculus if no one in the party has it or SoJ. If you got none of them any ring will be comparable in performance imho. In tal variant you could also take RoRG and switch some set item, this opens tons of options, for example would allow you to equip witching hour.

Hi,

Your star pact build is wrong - belt should be Delsere. Hegrebresh does nothing for star pact since it's not a channeling build.

So, I've got a question or two, that may seem like dumb questions, but as has been said "There are no dumb questions, just dumb people." ... Wait...

Anyway. What actually makes the arcane torrent preferable over disintegrate? I've seen that beam wipe people at least as fast (if only from hitting instantly) if not faster, its power cost can be dropped just as much, and it still triggers meteors like a madman. And I've yet to have an encounter where the amount of damage reduction it provides from the flame rune has made a noticeable difference, unless that really kicks in at higher GR levels.

Secondly, the "needs to be hit by three different skills to ignite," is that counting being hit by the same skill repeatedly (in this case, multiple procced castings of meteor)? Would it just not trigger unless also MANUALLY casting meteor as that would count as "different" from proccing off Etched Sigil? I ask because everything is dying messily and quickly and I'm not sure if the Ignite just isn't actually going off, or if it's going off and things are just dying oo fast to notice.

Heh - funny point.  I like the look of Ray of FrostRay of Frost too, actually.  It just feels more powerful somehow.

As for UnityUnity, I'm not sure, because I basically just solo.  My hunch would be to use a fire-damage based Stone of JordanStone of Jordan.

Thanks!  I'd love if it had some vitality, but a primal is just so much better in so many ways.  I'm also using a non-ancient Etched SigilEtched Sigil for now for similar reasons.  I really like how it feels as a set comes together.

I can't even find an Ancient with close to %900 and you got a Primal... pretty cool.

I'm still confused by the New Weapon Stat Variables since 2.6.1.  I'm only assuming that the %900 is the most important Stat.

I find AudacityAudacity largely useless, since for normal mob I don't need that  damage, and in RG fight i need to keep farther than 15 yards away from him for my Halo of KariniHalo of Karini to proc... BTW if someone of the masters could give an opinion about it? :)

What would you guys cube in speed farm?

obviously aether walker for weapon and grand vizier, but without sage's and no need of royal grander, i dont have a ring besides maybe elements for ring in cube?

for armor in cube, aquillas? with all my mana being used by teleports/meteor spam (or enough to knock me below 90%), i find aquillas useless. maybe nemesis bracers?

i would LOVE to see someone's tal normal t13 rift build, i'm using this one from dead set, but the cube items seem off.

I currently have one of the higher tal meteor clears on ladder. (108)

If you want to play talrasha meteor in a group that second ring slot is basically free. Theoretically, you want a fire stone of jordan in GRs and Id recommend avarice band/boon of the hoarder in T13 (furthermore in t13 id drop deathwish for aether walker as you the damage is overkill and the mobility is greatly improved). Another option you could try is to drop convention of elements also and run Focus + Restraint. You need to run the electocute/ray of frost version to keep the buff up then.

Of course you are giving up the unity effect which limits your toughness but many other classes that you may be playing with could possible provide some toughness buffs to you.

This is just trying to answer your question as best as possible, strictly speaking at high levels you just wouldn't play tal meteor in groups anyways its not really ideal. That said for just casual playing with a friend its fine, with very good gear and augments you can do two dps 95s with basically any other decent dps in <5mins with no chance of death. You just need to keep in mind that unless you are getting support from the other character, you will not be able to run as high as you can solo.

Also, the ray of frost version is generally more popular than the frozen mist version on PC at least and is more represented on leaderboards. It keeps aquila up easier. Finally at good crit levels and with 4 apoc on offhand you do not need to run a generator at all and can run both ray of frost and arcane torent (electrocute) which makes it easier to maintain taeguk stacks while rotating your elements.

Tal-Meteor is the "easiest" of the 3 meteor build playstyle wise and most comfortable for most casual players to get to 100+, even with very good gear and full 100 augments it caps out around 110 though without excessive paragon and the others (especially starpact) have a much higher ceiling. They are significantly more burdensome to play.

I STRONGLY recommend tal meteor over either firebird build in anything sub gr90. Firebird does not play right until the elites actually live after being ignited. and most people find it very frustrating. Hence the confusion displayed over firebird builds in this thread. Halo of Arlyse+ APDs is for very high content, absolutely run karini in anything <100 for sure without question.

Damn... I really appreciate all the great info, but I mostly play with my wife (who just likes to kill things (it might be all that estrogen - it's a dirty drug).  You guys are obviously REALLY into the Math - I just like running around with a decent Build in the cool Environments murdering the bad guys.

A "Fire Stone Of Jordan" - you're talking about %Fire Skills, right?  And both Crits?  I don't think I've ever seen one with even Two of those.

Maybe this is my Imagination (I have a healthy One of those), but it seems the cool thing about Oceanus' build is that it's much easier to "Aim" using Ray of Frost than the Deadset Build.

SoJ always has:

  • increased damage against elites (25%-30%)
  • main stat
  • + elemental skill damage (15%-20%)
  • + resource
  • 2 random magic properties

Increased damage against elites, main stat and + ele skill damage are primary stats, + resource is secondary stat. This means that the 2 random magic properties are 1 primary stat and 1 secondary stat. Since socket is more needed than anything this means you cannot have chc and chd on the same soj. Ideally you would get a socket as the random primary stat, this would allow you to reroll main stat into chd, but if this would benefit you depends on the rest of the rolls on your gear and on the soj itself.

If you asking about the group variant it's obviously wrong, like most builds here. There is no place for black hole in here, you still go with magic weapon - ignite.

I am not seeing a point in using Mantle of ChannelingMantle of Channeling in the speed farming variation since it does not use any of the skills that item was made for (Arcane Torrent, Disintegrate, or Ray of Frost) and I personally think Pauldrons of the Skeleton KingPauldrons of the Skeleton King and/or Death Watch MantleDeath Watch Mantle would both be the best options. For that matter, CorruptionCorruption or Spaulders of ZakaraSpaulders of Zakara would be better then what was suggested in this variation. I am going to take a guess that the reason they suggested what they did is that it does not really make much of a difference and so they just posted what was used in the other variation for people who are planning to use both variations because it would save trouble of having to find shoulders with the same stats required in other variation for those who use it which makes sense. However, since I am not going to be using both variations I plan on going with something better for the speed farming variation.

The speed farming variation is showing stone of jordan as the recommended ring with CHC, CHD, socket, etc. The problem is that ring always has damage% and dmg vs elite%. making it impossible to get all stats listed.

Why does your Starpact variation of meteor wizard have fire on amulet and bracers?

top leaderboard players all have arcane on amulet and bracers.

top leaderboard players also use Shame of Delsere belt and not Hergbrash's (like you recommended.)

Zeppelin.. Coz this guide is outdated, like many of the others are. Also theres many factors to keep in mind, paragon lvl, gem lvl, playstyle, solo/grp etc.

The guides is all some kinda baseline, how you use it is up to you.

You can find more than 10 dirrent setups for meteor. This gear might work better/worse for you, compared to top players choices.

Use it as a baseline, change the setup and work youre way, to you find something that works for you.

I believe the %-damage error is just an oversight in adapting the guide from the fire variation. I'll let DS know.

Same goes for the belt, I believe. Star Pact should move away from channeling, hence the swap from Taeguk. This diminishes the value of Hergbrash, so that's most likely why people are using Delsere. Again, I'll let DS know.

I’ve noticed that I don’t need to cast meteors manually to get the ignite affect so, yeah, it seems to trigger off the meteors case by the sigil.

You should also make some adjustments in gearing with respect to group composition, most notably trying to hit a 10 frames breakpoint for ElectrocuteElectrocute to optimize Arcane Power generation (achieveable with a maximum 10% Attack Speed roll on the weapon plus two other slots, 7 IAS each).

At first I thought there is no way to roll 10% attack speed on a weapon, but if you roll the max (7%) and then click details, you indeed get the 10% attack speed increase. I thought that was weird.

(however, I really don't know what '10 frames breakpoint' means.)

The third fire skill is the meteor from you firebird 2piece bonus when you die, you have to use electrocute + disintengrate after that, to ignite enemies. This should be included in the guide...

I'm wondering if we simply drop Wave of Force -> Arcane Attunement for Magic Weapon->Ignite if that will suffice. Gets a third igniter if need be without relying on the 2 piece Firebird's to proc damage with letting us keep a grouping mechanic which is always useful while buffing our damage as well, all the while keeping the theme of the build the same. Thoughts?

      Patch 2.7.8
      Season Theme
The shadows, they are moving, and they seem… animated. Like they have a will of their own. Whatever this trickery is, perhaps you can use it to your advantage. Let’s see what the demons say when you fight side by side with your own shadow! Shadows of the Past: Activating a Shrine/Pylon will spawn in a shadow clone of your class, who will come with a randomly chosen 1 of 3 predetermined builds. This clone's power will scale with your character and will last for 1 minute (unless your character dies). See this article for the shadow clone variations that can spawn when activating. Kanai’s Cube: Kanai’s Cube will have a fourth slot this season. This fourth slot will have the choices of the first 3 slots but will not stack with any of them, providing additional flexibility to your build. Return to Top Season Cosmetic Rewards
Beginning with Season 17, we began re-introducing previous Seasonal rewards to make them available to any who may have missed them the first time around. For Season 33, this means awards originally available from Season 9 are returning to the Season Journey. However, we know it’s nice to have something new to aim for if you’ve already participated in previous Seasons. We’re continuing to provide new End of Journey rewards as introduced in Season 17, with two new cosmetic rewards for those who complete the entirety of the Season journey. Prove your worth in the Trial of Tempests to earn the Stupendous Contraption pet and the Industrial Portrait Frame.
In addition to the Chest and Gloves slots of the exclusive Conqueror Set, you’ll be able to earn the Pandemonium portraits, and the cute and craggily Rocky pet first introduced in Season 9. Return to Top Season Journey Rewards
If you’ve been diligently slaying demons before and reached Conqueror in the Season Journey each time, you’ve surely accrued a few extra stash tabs. You’ll earn one additional tab each Season by finishing the Conqueror tier, up to a maximum of five: Guardian of Sanctuary: Finish a Level 70 Nephalem Rift on Torment XIII difficulty within five minutes. Gem of My Life: Level three Legendary Gems to level 55. All I Do is Win: Complete 2 Conquests this Season. Life Goes On: Kill Maghda at Level 70 in under fifteen seconds on Torment XIII difficulty. Money Ain’t a Thang: Slay Greed on Torment XIII difficulty. Treasure Goblins outside of Nephalem Rifts will sometimes open portals to Greed’s domain, The Vault. Take U There: Reach Greater Rift Level 60 Solo. Greater Rift keystones can be obtained from any Nephalem Rift guardian. Power Amplification: Use Kanai’s Cube to augment an Ancient Legendary item with a Level 50+ gem. Cubic Reconfiguration: Use Kanai’s Cube to reforge a Legendary item. Return to Top Seasonal Conquest
Want to prepare your Conquest plan for Season 33? Here are the challenges you’ll face: For Curses!/Stars Align, pick any Cursed Chest event that requires killing monsters and defeat over 350 or more at level 70 on Torment X or higher. Also returning for Season 33 is Sprinter/Speed Racer, where you’re challenged to complete the entire Diablo III campaign from Act I to Act V at Level 70 in under an hour! Next is Avarice/Avaritia, where all that glitters is gold—that is, if you can complete a 50 million Gold streak outside of The Vault or its Inner Sanctum. We're also bringing Thrill/Superhuman, which requires completion of a Greater Rift Level 45—solo and without any Set items equipped. And lastly we'll be bringing back Speed Demon/Need for Speed, meaning you'll need to beat a Torment X Nephalem Rift at Level 70 in 2 minutes. Best of luck! Return to Top Haedrig’s Gift
Finally, the Class Sets rewarded for completing certain chapters in the Season Journey courtesy of Haedrig’s Gift have rotated once more. We’ve listed the available Sets below. For those new to Seasons, here’s how it works: Completing Acts II, III, and IV of the Season Journey will reward you with three of Haedrig’s Gifts. Each Gift contains a few pieces from one of your Class Sets. Players can only unlock one Class Set in this manner per Season across Hardcore and Non-Hardcore, so choose wisely! The set you receive depends on the class of the character you’re playing when you open each Haedrig’s Gift. To collect a full Class Set, you’ll need to open all three on the same character. Here are the sets granted by Haedrig’s Gift in Season 33: Barbarian - Might of the Earth Crusader - Thorns of the Invoker Demon Hunter - The Shadow's Mantle Monk - Monkey King's Garb Witch Doctor - Raiment of the Jade Harvester Wizard - Firebird's Finery Necromancer - Grace of Inarius Return to Top Patch 2.7.8
