Heroes Brawl - Escape from Braxis (Heroic): Nov 29

Last week's PvE Brawl is now available on Heroic difficulty! 

Note that the brawl needs to be completed in order to get credit toward the Loot Chest. It seems there are no changes in terms of available Heroes. The key to complete the brawl is survival. If all players die, the mission is failed. Complete 1 missions to get a Rare Loot Chest.

Things are looking even worse, soldier. You’re stranded on Braxis and the UED is still overrun. The Omegaswarm has surrounded you on all sides, and your only shot at survival is to press through the onslaught, make it to the shuttle, and get off this planet. Will you fall victim to the heroic-difficulty swarm, or can you work together and Escape from Braxis?

Rules:

  • At the beginning of the Brawl, your team will have the following roster of Heroes to choose from:
    • Warrior: Artanis, Arthas, Johanna, Muradin, Sonya, Tyrael, Varian, Zarya
    • Support: Brightwing, Kharazim, Li Li, Lt. Morales, Lucio, Malfurion, Rehgar, Uther
    • Specialist: Azmodan, Gazlowe, Sgt. Hammer, Nazeebo, Xul
    • Assassin: Cassia, Falstad, Greymane, Gul'dan, Illidan, Jaina, Kael'thas, Kel'Thuzad, Ragnaros, Raynor, Thrall, Valla
  • Player Death:
    • When a Hero dies, they can be resurrected by Allies after a short channel time.
    • If all players die, the mission is failed.
  • Players start at Level 10 and have access to their full talents with a few exceptions (i.e. Bribe)
  • Enemy zerg Heroes will spawn periodically throughout the brawl and will drop new active items exclusive to Escape from Braxis.
  • Push through the onslaught and survive to Escape from Braxis and win the Brawl!

Complete 1 match of Escape from Braxis (Heroic) to earn a Rare Loot Chest!

I tried it twice so far and failed twice, total idiotic team members :D

Even though I can't say it's correct but in-game it shows the reward (which requires only one win) being a Rare chest this time instead of a common.

that's it, it's rare. though It could be epic. I failed it four times and ditched it completely

the previous version was incredibly weak, this is unbeatable. not a chance to make it just interesting

I failed it 12 times and succed at the 13th

My victory team was Sonya Zarya Varian Lucio Gazlowe

The reward is a Rare chest is correct

Yeah, you need to actually pick the right heroes now. Sonya, Zarya, lucio (or medic), Guldan/KT and new hammer. That team should work really well.

Few tips for getting chest:

Sonya, Xul and Lucio should be your Core. They can easily clear zerg fast, Sonya excels at staying in tip-top shape while pushing out a ton of damage.

Don't pick Morales, you need constant AoE heal, zerg doesn't have hive mind that tells them to focus specific hero.

Don't clear everything, no need to waste time on all lanes.

I was going to say this. Those 3 really shine in that Brawl. As for the other 2 slots, Tyrael works quite well thankd to Sanctification and the overall utility of his kit (shielding, movement speed, etc.), and Valla works amazingly well as a Boss buster with the Hungering Arrow build for extra PvE damage.

Isn't boss also considered Hero too? How likely is it to complete Kel'Thuzad's Trait prior to Boss? Spamming Heroic every 1.5s should make it fairly fast.

I also failed like 12 times prior completion... most noobs picking Jaina, Kel'thuzad or whatever other mages. This was in my alt account though... my main one, which is ranked much higher, was able to find partners competent enough on the first try.

I was going to say this. Those 3 really shine in that Brawl. I agree with most of your points, however Fury Varian is still better than Valla for this one imho. In addition to being far more resilient than she is with Parry, he can use Banner of Ironforge + Glory to the Alliance to give his whole team protection + healing boost.

You could try a lineup with Varian, Tyrael and Sonya plus Lucio and whatever other warrior or perhaps Uther. That should be both tough enough and have decent waveclear and resistance against bosses.

Took me exactly 20 tries. At the 20th, I won. The reason I lost so much is because all of my teammates were strangers I randomly got from que, I was not premade. Being premade makes it way easier. Also the heroes people were picking were just plain stupid for the respective lineup.

The lineup with which I won was Lucio (me), Li Li, Arthas, Greymane and Xul.

Also 1 Chest for so much trouble is not worth it. So many hours wasted for 1 chest, though, now, after finishing it, I realise I wasn't doing it for the chest reward.

Hmmm, I haven't considered that. Has anyone tried this yet?

It's not about the chest, it's about the challenge. It really feels like running a dungeon on WoW. The problem is that most random players are too stupid to acknowledge this and simply rush thinking they won't die and kill everything. In this regard it is EXACTLY like WoW, where you see PUGs dying to creeps prior the boss.

Aggro in HotS functions in a pretty simple way: the AI will attack the closest Hero, so it is a matter of simple positioning. Most groups I played with for this Brawl were very poor at positioning. Warriors would fight the boss at minimal range, causing it to turn to the nearest melee Assassin. Or players wouldn't kite the Exploding Banelings and eat a shitton of damage. Or everyone would target a different coccoon rather than focusing on the most dangerous ones (Queen of Blades or Butcherlisk).

I won during the second run (Fury Varian with High King's Quest) and I also played with random guys. I cannot imagine how it took you 20 runs. The first time we lost, only because we rushed exactly how we would do in the previous, easier version. Perhaps I was lucky, or perfect combo, dunno.

The difficulty level is finally nice though, I really appreciate that small change, as it can be challenging (looking at the feedback).

Here I would also like to point out that Abathur seems to be the strongest opponent here ;) The symbiote hits really hard.

For you Gazlowe players out there, I found that the talent that resets turrets on Xplodium hit on hero works great! I think I had somewhere around 9 turrets up for the final boss just kiting in a circle and threading in hits. The multi shot turrets along with that talent really kicked my dam. output up! Tanky Ult for survivability and speed too.

yah gazlowe is a sleeper in this mode. people think of him as garbage b/c of his power level vs. humans, but the heroes in this mode just have basic mercenary AI and gazlowe can get a lot of work done with his weird ability set.

 

in general though warriors and healers are the name of the game, leave your fucking jainas at hoime.

This was my first brawl i tried and definitely reminded me of old custom Starcraft maps.  I loved it!  You really need a good coordinated team.  3 of us tried twice and failed in pugs.  you really need a good coordinated team.  We tried 3 more times with just 4 of us.  on the 3rd try of a full team of us we finally made it but it took 2 bruisers, double support, and me as hypercarry for the first time.  So we finally completed it on our 9th try. 

Several of those times we were so close on the last part but we'd wipe out.  It seems the nerfs to supports only comes to show how much more important double support is.   That was our first double support comp and we won.  It was worth it.  I got a legendary out of it.  

our winning team was Sonya, Zarya, Lucio, Kharazim, Greymane (me).  I hardly ever play assassin, especially melee.  The key was team work and patience.  We didn't rush through it that time.  Took us 12min to complete!

I completed it on 3rd try with near full party the winning team was:

Uther

Its actually not that hard you just need competent people not your usual randumbs.

For me it as as it follows;

Xul,

Varian, twin blades, healing banner 

Zarya,

Lucio, 

Kharazim,

What really helped it was the cursed strikes build, Healing, cd reduction, rapid harvest, posion nova + andariels visage, also shackler at lvl 1, helps with survival with the shield cd reduction, also Zarya's Feel the heat works wonders. But our healers were Aoe constant-ish heals, lucio went break it down & kara seven sided strike.

After 10 attempts I finally finished the brawl. I really enjoyed it. It's refreshing to see a brawl that's not easily roflstomped. We obviously didn't make it in time, but at least it's done!

Why Taunt though? I don't see any reason for CCing bosses when you can just smash them.

I've managed to clear it with a friend and 3 randoms.

Shit went the smoothest. I was surprised when my friend picked Ragnaros, but Sulfuras SmashSulfuras Smash and Giant ScorcherGiant Scorcher deal a shitload of damage, and the zerg waves surely help for his self-sustain.

If Samuro activates Image Transmission or if a new Mirror Image is created, any Mirror Images that are updated will copy Blessing of the Red if it is present on Samuro instead of increasing their maximum Health as if Blessing of the Red were cast on them. Level 7 Crushing Blows Fixed an issue that caused Crushing Blows to apply to the triggering Critical Strike. Level 20 Three Blade Style Fixed an issue that caused Three Blade Style to increase Mirror Image maximum health if Samuro gained Blessing of the Red between the Images being created and the talent being selected. Wind Walk [E] Wind Walk will no longer cancel move and attack commands in the command queue when activated. Critical Strike [W] Activating Critical Strike while Samuro's Basic Attack is being swung will now apply to that attack, rather than the next attack, and will carry the attack reset over to the next Basic Attack.
