T21 and your guide

Maybe I'm overlooking something obvious here (been a long week), but I'm completely not understanding what about tier 21 makes crit and gloomblade a priority.

Is it just as simple as the 30% bonus scaling to the point that it's just a dmg increase to run gloomblade?

I've been making more than a few posts about this over the last few days, so here's the point form version lol

• Synergy between t20 2-piece and t21-2piece means that running 2/4 is very effective
  • Bonus damage on SoD and reduced SoD cooldown
  • Need the shoulder slot for tier
• t21 4-piece means that we'll have random spikes of damage that we can't predict and buff with our other stacking % bonuses
• Gaining inconsistent burst and losing the guaranteed spike of the shoulders means that less of our damage gets front-loaded into one small window
• Backstab is better to use than it has been in the past, so we actually cast it now to proc the 4-piece instead of only using it to avoid Energy cap 
• With Backstab being cast more often, it's a larger portion of our damage, which Gloomblade benefits 
  • The bonus damage outweighs the loss of a small portion of our burst window
• The legendary rings are the best ones that fit the open slots, offering extra damage on all our ST builders (Gloomblade) and more Energy to spam said builders more often

Note that none of this applies if you aren't running 2 & 4 set bonus from t20 and t21

So until you're able to get a combo that let's you do 2pc t20 and 4pc t21 do you just stay on t20?  (I'm assuming similar relative ilvl here, like heroic t20 to heroic t21 so a general 30 ilvl gap per piece.  Which isn't realistic because titanforge)

If you don't have that legendary combo do you run 4pc T21 with the legendary shoulders + something else?  

I've been running sims on both Simcraft and AMR and getting widely varying results.  Simcraft is heavily favoring me keeping my old set whereas AMR seems more aggressive about swapping. 

Also since we're still going through normal right now, the sims are basically saying I don't even bother with T21 until I'm getting heroic pieces, or really good titanforges on normal.

Either way I feel like this set bonus is relatively weak compared to others.  It helps smooth the rotation out, but the proc seems pretty rare in my early testing.  The previous set bonus was very good, especially the 2pc so it's one of those situations that we only want to leave until the ilvl gap gets so strong.  

Anyway!  Thanks for answering this question so much.  This tier between the set bonuses and trinkets has really made it tricky to figure out what's optimal, especially when you're in situations of flux and don't have all the legendaries you need.  The sims all give me conflicting info too.
