Antorus M Progress Day 2: Only Argus Left

Recommended Posts

VMigP1c.jpg

All but one boss are dead as the EU guilds have at it and clear the entire raid in under 20 hours. Only Argus the Unmaker remains. Also there's a bunch of World First videos!

So, Antorus' woes continue as Method get all but one boss down in 20ish hours. It took them 12 hours to down Aggramar, so that's definitely an improvement over earlier bosses, since it's 2 more than the entire rest of the raid lineup combined. However, it's still pretty unimpressive considering this is their very first day in Legion's probably final raid and they're down to the final boss. In true top guild form, they forgot to take a killshot and just ran straight to Argus, which is probably the right idea as he too might just fall over dead within the next few hours/days.

The rest of the day was the usual EU progress dynamic, with Method and Exorsus trading off EU firsts, with Nova and Pieces claiming a couple of the early ones as well. Method pulled ahead on 9/11, but they were still incredibly close, as the last few kills were minutes apart (2 mins Method ahead on Kin'garoth, 3 mins Exorsus ahead on Varimathras and then Method started to pull away, with 43 mins ahead on the Coven of Shivarra). Asia servers also came up today, as the Chinese guilds took the lead early, with ShadowSoul grabbing the first 5 Asia firsts, but Skyline soon took over and grabbed the World 18th, Asia 1st on Immonar. Style War also the Soulhunter down quickly thereafter while KeaHoarl are still on 5/11. At the very end of the day we had some more US kills, as Big Dumb Guild and Easy went up to 8/11 with their World 4th and 5th, US/OC 2nd and 3rd Varimathras kills.

The other big news of the day were Limit and Big Dumb Guild's World First videos. You can check them all out over on Method.gg's progress kill video page and here are the final three, up to 8/11:

And so Antorus: the Burning Throne became a slightly bigger joke on day 2, but again, it really is all about the final boss with these races, and if Argus the Unmaker can unmake it to at least the second reset, all might be forgiven - at least for the top end raiders. One wonders if this is the state Blizzard really wanted the raid in for the wider audience and simply decided to skip the 2-5 week process of nerfing encounters during and after the race to get it into the shape they want it to be in for a longer while. In any case, unless Argus somehow turns out to be exactly the right kind of difficulty, where he ends up lasting a long time AND isn't completely impossible until nerfs, Antorus might go down as one of the worse raid races around. Lucky for it Cataclysm had Dragon Soul, which lowers the bar solidly for end-of-expasion raid races.

As always, you can follow the live race coverage over at Method.gg.

This is getting highly disappointing. This already seems like all of the bosses are basically Xavius. We went from extremely overtuned in Tomb, to extremely undertuned in one tier. Let's hope Argus doesn't get put to sleep in 10 pulls. Not much fun in that.

From  HC and Normal, it seems Argus won't last long.

Back to vanilla? no....

I want those end bosses who take 3 months to kill.

I was honestly expecting this. If they messed up and made the raid tier too hard again, there would be a shitstorm. My guess is they are just playing it safe this time.

They should all play without all that helper addons like WeakAura, Grid oder similar addons, then i take also 1 month to bring them down.

You do not have to watch to your mana (as we see in the video at Varimatras) (Arcanmage has to look). Big fail from blizz here. They can take mana out of the game and make all free.

I always said this when watching a lot of the various kill videos and that but everyone would always then say terribly things to me. Glad to find someone else with the same opinion :D

Does somebody know what is causing them problems at Argus?

They don't seem to manage to get Argus to 0 health before the raid wipes.

They forgot the one rule about fighting bosses...  Kill it before it kills you.

Totally agree with you, the whole raid is disappointing with mechanics and difficulty. Weird if we as 2-day raiding casual guild can clear on heroic under 3 hrs and just because of RNG-sh*t Coven it's why not under 2.
I'm really sad from this end game raid content of a cool expansion.

Coven fight is a complete joke. Have they learned nothing from how negatively the community has reacted about the extreme amount of RNG this expansion? Apparently not, and now they decide to make a fight entirely based off of it. It's sad actually, considering Blizzard had briefly regained most of the communities' trust towards the end of Tomb. They just don't know what they are doing. And if they do, they just don't do it right.

Argus is a joke on any difficulty so far like most of the other bosses. Mythic Argus might be more difficult with the secret phase, but judging by the raid so far, I have my money set that he will be downed within the next few days... maybe less. Haven't been this disappointed about a raid for a long time now.

so whats in your opinion so difficult on rng at coven? its rng but thats not really an issue in my opinion. you can kill the boss if you play every phase correct. even if you are unlucky with the save zone spawns its not an instant wipe. in our guild raid and in the random grp ive been it wasnt a big deal to reach a save zone before dying if you instantly run to  it and the healer doing their jobs right. most classes these days got mobility abilities like blink, heroic leap, demon hunter dash, druid blink and so on + if you got a healing priest you got a grab. also you could use health stones and healing pots and some classes got immunities that should be enough if your healer using raid cds timed at the right moments. in case someone dies you also got up to 1 or 2 battle ress.

there is just 1 point in this fight which might could be changed. coven gets more difficult with a bigger grp cause its hard to stay on range to each other while you are in a save zone with more players. everything else is just playing mechanics. tbh i like that fight .

also i see many player complaining about the difficulty of the whole raid. most guilds managed to get down about 4 or 5 bosses at mythic difficult in tomb of sargeras in about 5 month. while a few killed 6+ and even less killed the endboss. in those 5 month they nerfed many abilities and dmg numbers in tomb also.

the current difficult of antorus might could be the right difficult for the avarage guilds, not the top10 guilds, to finish the mythic raid someday before the next expension is released. that also depends on the date of the release, many people expect the release of the expension to be way earlier then the last expensions.

I liked coven so far. In h there are rng but you can prepare for that rng, not like m Mistress who is a too much overtuned boss for dps check with a lot of rng almonst insta laying down aoe that you can't predict.

I guess... I've heard many opinions on both sides. Just not happy about that massive amount of RNG in this expansion. It really has been too much.

My point stands about Argus though. His mythic phase seems to be holding off but I'm worried he is still undertuned and could be downed anytime today or in a few days. I certainly hope he holds up. Not much fun if he's just Xavius 2.0.

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
