Legion Epilogue Cinematics

Recommended Posts

BjTkavt.jpg

Two weeks ago, we previewed the Legion epilogue quest line in Silithus. Now that Patch 7.3.5 is live, epilogue cinematics for both factions are out! The following article is obviously full of spoilers.

Check out our Patch 7.3.5 content hub for the latest information about the patch!

Alliance Legion Epilogue Cinematic

The cinematic begins to play before you turn in Gifts of the Fallen.

Anduin is giving a speech in Stormwind to formally announce the end of the war. All of a sudden, Mathias Shaw approaches Greymane, telling him that he must speak with the boy-king. Mathias informs Anduin about Goblins mining a mysterious substance in Silithus and gives him a piece of Azerite.

Horde Legion Epilogue Cinematic

Leaders of the Horde gather together for a feast in celebration of their victory over the Burning Legion. Baine is giving a speech and gets interrupted by Gallywix, who requests a private audience with the Dark Lady, show her his Azerite-infused cane and informs Sylvanas about Azerite and ongoing mining operations of the Bilgewater Cartel in Silithus. Baine and Saurfang call Gallywix a rat and there seems to be a growing distrust between the racial leaders of the Horde.

The cinematic starts playing before you turn in A Recent Discovery.

The cinematics were written by Christie Golden.

Both of these are incredible. I just think the horde one was done a bit better. It really shows how much the cinematic team has stepped up recently. Every time they just get better and better.

Thirteen years ago...I started World of Warcraft as an Orc Warrior finding his place in the world. I chose this race because I believed in the principles of the Horde, which seemed like a strong progressive lot of like minds. The Horde which was reshaped and redefined by Go'el of the Frostwolf Clan. With determination, he was able to unite races and forge relationships with elements of the Alliance. The Horde was fine settling in Durotar, knowing that the Alliance would less likely want to maintain strongholds in a desolate land. For every issue in the story, the Horde has taken in races due to extreme prejudice from the leaders and the people of the Alliance i.e. Blood Elves, Undead (some being true citizens of Lordaeron). However, since the fall of the Lich King and the Cataclysm, the Horde has been written as an negative force within the World of Azeroth. I am gravely disappointed that Blizzard and their writers continue to narrowly forge the Horde into an antagonistic force. We suffered hard with Garrosh and that was a blow to all factions...but now to have Sylvanas follow suit and to cause the same distrust between faction leaders? This isn't great story writing this is just using recycled themes to continue a shoddy story. I think they set it up fairly well for Alliance to finally show some negativity in the story...It would maintain the balance that each faction believes differently and that there is no real good or real bad entity besides the forces in the environment.

Joy... and entire expansion about fighting for greed... Is there an old god for that? Because that's what all signs point to.

Just I'm feel the end of this expansion is just such a bullsh*t?

Every time new content is out, I go back to Il'gynoth's quotes and start speculating about how they apply to it.

"The king of diamonds has been made a pawn."

Magni could be corrupted, but to me it seems that the quote only refers to him being made the Titan's pawn (serving Azeroth). We know how Old Gods hate Titans.

"The lord of ravens will turn the key."

I have a feeling this applies to Khadgar. In the Legion epilogue we learned that he goes back to Karazhan to find a way to cure Azeroth.

"It seems our victory on Argus was a hollow one. With his final blow, Sargeras has done much more than burry his blade in the heart of our world. I had hoped that after the war against the Legion, the people of Azeroth would build a new future together. But now the unity we forged has been shattered. As the life essence of Azeroth bleeds out, the leaders of the Alliance and Horde scramble to claim it as a resource. Blades are drawn, and the tides of war are rising once again. But I will not take up arms against heroes on either side. Not after all we've been through. Instead, I will go to Karazhan and confer with my old mentor, Medivh. Perhaps somewhere in his ancient texts lies the knowledge needed to heal this world. I had best be going. Until next we meet... fare well, champion."

"The boy-king serves at the master's table. Three lies will he offer you."

I'm wondering what lies did Anduin offer us in Legion so far and who is his master? It's obviously about him, because Gul'dan also refers to him as the "boy-king". I'm really curious to see what sets off the Burning of Teldrassil and the Battle for Lordareon. What if the faction conflict is just a blatant distraction and N'zoth grows stronger ever so quickly? We know from the wiki that the Horde attacks first, but why? Is it because of the fight over Azerite, or will Anduin be involved somehow?

"At the hour of her third death, she will usher in our coming."

This one is either about Alleria or Sylvanas. We know that Sylvanas died twice already and from the latest return to Azeroth video, here's what Alleria says:

"Indeed. Sometimes I fell that I have already died twice. Once when we were presumed lost on Draenor, and again when gripped by the shadow of the fallen naaru."

Eh, not really. A large majority of villains are from "alliance" races. Take all expansions so far. How many final villains were Horde? Only Garrosh in Mists of Pandaria. In The Burning Crusade it was Illidan, while in Wrath of the Lich King it was Arthas.

As a matter of fact Arthas is a prime example of an Alliance character corrupted by power, although technically the Lich King is the spirit of Ner'zhul, who was part of the original Horde from Draenor (so you can say that Arthas as the Lich King is both a alliance/horde villain). On the other hand, the Lich King was a weapon created by The Burning Legion to devastate Azeroth with the Scourge.

Players tend to paint Horde (more technically, the Orcs) as the bad guys because of their viciousness in battle, but in truth they were manipulated by Gul'dan from the start, who in turn was being manipulated by The Burning Legion.

So... In the end pretty much all conflicts were caused either by The Burning Legion or the Old Gods.

I think the new players still tend to see "Alliance as Good" and "Horde as Evil" because of their appearances and settings. Alliance is filled with dem civilized pretty bois, while the Horde has people living in the wild and with a more "tribal" culture (mainly talking about Orcs, Taurens and Trolls).

You hit the point spot on. This is something that many other people, including me, agree on completely. I just really hope they stop with 'Horde is bad' and go more on the side of either the alliance now, or better yet, everyone being responsible.

I hesistate to defend Goblins of all things, but just pointing out that Gallywix and the horde are technically doing nothing wrong.   Silithus is a desert which was ruled by C'thun and his minions ages ago, and isn't currently claimed by anyone as far as I know; hell the Golbins in gadgetstan are the closest "civilization" iirc.    They found a new ore and are mining it.

Now, is the alliance justified in being suspicious of the goblins and wondering about the new ore?   Sure, absolutely.    I'm wondering what the initial fight will be though; is it going to turn into Anduin ordering an attack to claim the Azerite, or Sylvannas preemptively burning the world tree.

Oh, I never trusted Goblins the moment they entered the Horde. They have always been a race looking out for themselves. If you look into Nobbel87's breakdown of Kezan and the Goblins and doing the Goblin starting zone, its actually kind of weird how we even got the Goblins. I mean Gallywix tried to assassinate Thrall. (The story between End of Wrath and WoD has been all over the place. I mean why is the Horde getting Mag'har orcs from the AU? None of the time traveling stuff even remotely makes sense...but somehow we are getting those Orcs. )

I do agree with Saurfang. "Nothing ever good comes out of Silithus" but that's the problem I am getting at. The writers are writing the Horde into these situations and making them look terrible as well as constantly split. The Goblins don't have to be written like they are serving Deathwing again but for some reason they want to make them untrustworthy but somehow necessary to the Horde. (I would be completely fine if the Kezan dungeon was to kill Gallywix and replace him with Gazlowe).

All I am saying is that the Alliance for once in an expansion need to somehow show their true flaws. With majority of the leaders blindly following the light and Illidan's revelation on that both the light and the void have very narrow ideas, all of the decisions that they made based on the light should show its repercussions.

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
