Gotherok 2 Report post Posted March 13, 2018 (edited) If you ever felt lost and hopeless about your mistakes... some tips for you! About skill usage Immolate 100% uptime Renew (5,4 or less) Conflagrate Don't cap both charges Don't use it with 3+ backdraft stacks Chaos bolt and Eradication Level 1: Your main goal is to keep eradication as much as possible. Comparing your Eradication uptime with a top destro is a good way to test yourself. That means you should not use chaos bolt twice in a row without a good reason (soul shard cap, havoc..) Level 2: Once you dominate level one you can afford the second. Without overlap eradication, you should try to make sure that most of your chaos bolt do benefit from it. To do so you have to end the cast while eradication is up. That way it does not matter how long travel time takes, it will do more damage. Dimensional rift No legendary: Stack on burst. You can also use one while moving to prevent DPS losing. Legendary: Don't spam. Use them according the buff it gives. I recommend any kind of aura to help you with timers. Play also with Soul Harvest. Try to keep 1-2 charges for every CD use. Doomguard If you are about to use your last doomguard, wait until 20% mark. Infernal x4 Use them on the best scenario Most important. The more enemies (full duration) the more damage. Hero/BL/burst phase Soul Harvest If you have a good chance, use immolate on several targets before Soul Harvest. (Ex: Argus on 40% phase) Heavy CDs and grace time You don't have to use your CD's on the very first second it comes back. Heavy CD's has some "grace time" to "expend". Let me explain myself: On a 300 s fight (5 minutes) where you cast doomguard at pull, you will have it again on 180 s and 360 s. This means that no matter what, you won't see a third. Your goal is to cast the second one on time (wich means, at least, 25 seconds before the end). So: You have your CD up again at 180 s. You have to use it before 300-25=275 (25 seconds before the end) You have 95 seconds to watch for the best moment (from 180 to 275) You can do the same with every single skill with cooldown, but i do recommend to focus on Doomguards/infernal and Soul Harvest Imp Remember: imp does +50% damage on immolate targets. Keep it up. Channel demonfire Use it frequently. Dont keep it. Don't interrupt channel time for no reason. People usually cut 2 or 3 bolts because of this (without knowledge). Try to cast it after chaos bolt for eradication. Empowered life tap Use an aura to track. You can refresh with 6 seconds left to get a new buff with 26. Demonic cirle Use it, please. Take a moment to think about the best use on the fight. I can't tell you a good spot for every single figth. Maybe on another post. Havoc You want to use it with as many conflagrates and chaos bolt you can. Try to get 2 conflagrate charges and 40-50 soul shards, but don't cap for 10 seconds. Use a cast on focus macro for usual targets. (Ex. Felhounds, Shivarra). Try to use it every single time you have a good chance. Ex: Kingaroth Start on robot 1 Use havoc Use gate + circle to get the second. cleave AoE issues Sometimes, adds die so fast that some of your spells don't manage to land. To avoid that, go melee on adds. Some legendaries Sin' Dorei Remember to stack it on burst phases. Sephuz You can activate it from more than just shadowfury Shadowfury of course. Infernal. Only if they land on adds (not immunes ones). Dispell from Imp. Imonar (sleep), High command (barrages). Banish. Aggramar (elementals). Active time Try to get 100% Edited March 20, 2018 by Gotherok

(Once again, maybe on another post i will go further). Valid for 950/60+ Focus on haste Crit: Try to get about Haste - 9% Ex(35% haste 26% crit) Vers: Try go get something between 5-9% Mastery: changes from boss to boss. Most casses you will get enough thanks to our +16% base. Avoid getting more than 50% (if you can). Really great post and thanks for contributing, but I just wanted to say: I really disagree with this part. You can't give stat amounts to aim for in Legion, it just doesn't work. Any advice about stats should either be a general priority (since no real caps exist for Destro) or just a note saying "Sim Yourself". Aiming for %-s just doesn't make sense in this expansion. Otherwise, good job :)
spikeysquad 50 Report post Posted March 14, 2018 Agree. Really helpful advice except I also disagree with the stat part. Destro is not fussy over stats and usually just favours more of them.

It's way more dificult than that, but esencially, if you follow those points you will have a very decent balance. Im going to make another post with my thoughts about stat value so anyone can discuss it.... ....if i pass the filter :D

What I mean though is that, the advice is counter-productive because it's just not correct. It doesn't make sense to have this in Legion. It's far better to give a priority than what you've given. Also, with the way you're written it, seems like you're saying you should go for: Haste > Crit > Vers > Mastery? Mastery is a really strong stat and is definitely on-par with Crit. Vers should be at the bottom. If you want super generic, you'd go: Haste >> Mastery =?= Crit > Vers - with the ? being Crit and Mastery changing on bosses in position but still being basically the same. You say to avoid over 50% Mastery, but: The top parsing Garothi Destro for Heroic is running 55% Mastery unbuffed. For Felhounds, top parse has 60%. Like I said, I like the rest of the post, but this stat part just really doesn't belong there IMO.
Gotherok 2 Report post Posted March 14, 2018 Yep. Removing that part. That kind of stuff can't be reduced to 3 phrases.

I think that's the case for just all stat discussion when you want things to be "right" in Legion. I look forward to your stat post though :)

I rarely did M+ with Destro however, for trash I prefered Sephuz + Chest/Lessons depending on the situation. AoE ring can be decent if mobs are not moving and it is big pulls. 1-2 target packs and if saving Rifts/Spite for the boss I may switch to a more ST leggo like belt (with Sephuz).
