Deckard Cain, the Last Horadrim

As an avid scholar, Deckard Cain has dedicated his life to the pursuit of knowledge. He has been an advisor, storyteller, and friend to Sanctuary's greatest heroes, guiding them through peril time and again. When Deckard speaks, it's wise to stay awhile and listen.

Wastewalker Deckard Skin

Few know what lies buried beneath the wastelands. But Deckard has wandered far and wide, gleaning knowledge from forgotten ruins. He may soon discover what came before, and why the world ended.

Hero Spotlight

Deckard is an area-denying healing Support Hero with a soft spot for storytelling. The Hero will be live on PTR in a few weeks.

Abilities

Trait

Fortitude of the Faithful

When at least 1 other allied Hero is nearby, Deckard gains 10 Armor and his Basic Abilities recharge 50% faster.

Primary Abilities

[Q] Healing Potion (Cost: 20 Mana // Cooldown: 3 sec)

Throw a Healing Potion on the ground that heals the first allied Hero that comes in contact with it for 230. Limit 5 active Potions.

[W] Horadric Cube (Cost: 40 Mana // Cooldown: 14 sec)

Throw the Horadric Cube, dealing 80 damage to all enemies in the area and Slowing them by 40% for 1.75 seconds.

[E] Scroll of Sealing (Cost: 40 Mana // Cooldown 16 sec)

Unfurl an enchanted scroll, forming a triangle that deals 150 damage to enemies inside and Roots them for 1.5 seconds.

Heroic Abilities

[R1] Stay Awhile and Listen (Cost: 60 Mana // Cooldown: 60 sec)

After 1 second, Channel for 3 seconds, putting enemy Heroes in front of Deckard to Sleep while Channeling, and for 2 seconds after. Enemies can only be put to Sleep once per cast, and Sleep's effects end instantly if they take damage.

[R2] Lorenado (Cost: 40 Mana // Cooldown: 30 sec)

Vector Targeting: Create a swirling lorenado that travels in the targeted direction, continually knocking away enemies that come into contact with it.

Talents

Level 1

  • Scroll of Identify [E]
    • Quest: Hitting an enemy Hero with Scroll of Sealing reveals them for 8 seconds.
    • Reward: After hitting 20 Heroes, Scroll of Sealing also reduces Armor by 20 for 4 seconds and the reveal duration is doubled.
  • Field Study [E]
    • Each enemy Hero hit by Scroll of Sealing grants 15% Spell Power for 14 seconds, up to 30%.
  • Sapphire [W]
    • Activate to increase the Slow of the next Horadric Cube by 30%. Only 1 Gem may be active at a time.

Level 4

  • Potion of Shielding [Q]
    • Whenever an ally is healed by a Healing Potion, they gain a 135 Shield for 6 seconds
  • Rejuvenation Potion [Q]
    • Healing Potions restore 10 Mana and heal for an additional 108 over 4 seconds
  • Ruby [W]
    • Activate to make the next Horadric Cube spawn 3 Lesser Healing Potions from each enemy Hero hit, healing allied Heroes for 190 when picked up. Lesser Healing Potions last for 10 seconds. Only 1 Gem may be active at a time.

Level 7

  • Cube Mastery [W]
    • Each enemy Hero hit by Horadric Cube reduces the cooldown of Scroll of Sealing by 3 seconds.
  • Kanai’s Cube [W]
    • Horadric Cube reduces damage dealt by 30% for 4 seconds.
  • Emerald [W]
    • Activate to make the next Horadric Cube reduce healing received by 75% for 4 seconds. Only 1 Gem may be active at a time

Level 10

  • Stay Awhile and Listen [R1]
    • After 1 second, Channel for 3 seconds, putting enemy Heroes in front of Deckard to Sleep while Channeling, and for 2 seconds after. Enemies can only be put to Sleep once per cast, and Sleep's effects end instantly if they take damage.
  • Lorenado [R2]
    • Create a swirling Lorenado that travels in the targeted direction, continually knocking away enemies that come into contact with it.

Level 13

  • Ancient Blessings [D]
    • Activate Fortitude of the Faithful to empower nearby allied Hero Basic Attacks for 8 seconds, causing them to deal an additional 80 damage in an area and heal for 120 for each Hero hit.
  • Super Healing Potion [Q]
    • If a Healing Potion isn't picked up for at least 2 seconds, it heals for 75% more.
  • [Q] Potion of Revival [Q]
    • When a Healing Potion is picked up, it also heals all nearby allied Heroes for 40% of the healing amount.

Level 16

  • Horadric Staff (Passive)
    • Every 5 seconds, Deckard's next Basic Attack Stuns Heroes for 0.75 seconds.
  • Safety in Numbers (Trait)
    • If at least 3 allied Heroes are nearby, Fortitude of the Faithful grants an additional 10 Armor and causes Deckard's Basic Abilities to recharge an additional 50% faster.
  • Scroll of Stone Curse [E]
    • Scroll of Sealing deals 200% more damage when hitting at least 2 Heroes.

Level 20

  • Respect the Elderly [R1]
    • Stay Awhile and Listen Silences and Blinds enemies for 2 seconds upon waking up from Sleep
  • Morenados! [R2]
    • Lorenado's cooldown is reduced by 5 seconds every time an enemy Hero is knocked back.
  • Perfect Gems [W]
    • Reduce the cooldown of all Gems by 25 seconds and the cooldown of Horadric Cube by 5 seconds.
  • Bottomless Flask [Q]
    • After use, Healing Potions recharge after 5 seconds.

  • Rejuvenation Potion [Q]
    • Healing Potions restore 10 Mana and heal for an additional 108 over 4 seconds

 

Big question for me is how they stack?      Multiple shields and cd extended?     Or limit of one?     Same question with the mana and health regen.     If the mana+health stacks, that would be huge for some heroes as a mana gain "KOTL!   GIB ME MANA!"

Losing 40 armor is a lot though and also the wording of it seems a small bit iffy (usually if there's a second reward that increases the thing the first reward increased it would say something like 'does an additional x% damage' I think). But if 16 seconds is the end reward, stealth peeps will have to respect that cube!

On another note, Entomb + Lorenado anyone?

I think that was just a copy paste mistake on their part, so if I'm correct on that one it will be 12 sec reveal and 20 armor. 12 sec is still huge though.

It will actually be a 20 armor reduction for 4 seconds, with a 16 sec reveal after the 20 heroes are hit. Filthy, but at least it will take a bit to turn it from a simple -- hah, simple -- 8 sec reveal.

I wonder if those shields stack. Because 135*5 = 675 shields if all 5 potions are picked by the same Hero.

This is particularly powerful. Imagine the burst healing. Sweet lord.

Does this also applies for the Lesser Healing Potions spawned by Ruby?

This is so ridiculous I suspect it's a mistake of some sort. This would enable tracer to do over 1000 dmg in one clip (at level 1), most of that in AOE, all while healing her for nearly her whole health bar. Note that I'm assuming it's 80 bonus damage at level 1 and scales up, which I'm pretty sure is how most talents work. If it's a flat 80 bonus, that still almost triples her DPS at 13. Plus 8 seconds is extremely long. There's a reason there's quite few raw (not %) attack damage modifiers, and this is why.

Heck, even mech D.Va would become terrifying (and also ridiculously hard to kill) under these conditions.

 

EDIT: turns out it only activates once a second, making this much more balanced than I thought. It also makes it fairly even between assassins (although it does slightly favor faster (<1 sec cooldown) attackers, who can get the full number of procs.

This effect is supposed to prock once per second. Apparently they said that on the Pax Panel.

Probably in another week or two. Since this upcoming Tuesday will only be the two week since Fenix went to Live servers and he'll get his gold reduction to 10k. And they had said recently they're moving new heroes from every 3 weeks to once a month. So yeah, Cain will probably hit the PTR April 16th. And then to Live servers April 24th.

But then again they usually put out the Hero Spotlights the week before they put them on PTR. So he might be up there come Monday morning. I think maybe they were just really giddy to reveal Cain to everyone so they did it a week earlier then they usually would for the spotlight video. I guess we'll all know soon enough either way :p :)

I think the only one who is snarkiest is Alarak. In fact, if they were to add Zoltun Kulle, his interactions with Alarak would be the best. I can already picture them throwing insults at each other.
