Crafter's Spotlight: Djarii, Makeup Artist

In our new "Crafter's Spotlight" series, we'll be looking at Blizzard game community members that have gone above and beyond with their contributions to the community and left a mark of their own. Whether it's cosplay, fan art, machinimas, we'll try to find the most interesting content creators and have a chat with them about their work. We've talked to some in the past and thought we'd make the series official and focus on it bit more.

Today we're starting off with Djarii, who started out as a regular streamer and quickly became one of the foremost cosplay/bodypaint streamers out there.

Icy Veins — First things first, how did you get your start in the streaming world? Which games or activities made you think and believe this was something you could do and have fun with?

Djarii  I got started streaming on recommendation from a friend, joined by my co-op companion Hamoth, we thought it would be a fun thing to do and we could use the footage to make more funny videos on his YouTube channel /hamoth. Never did I expect I would be streaming full time, or that I would even have any successes!

Icy VeinsWas there a point in your early streaming days, something specific that happened that made you think that, yes, this was something you could do full-time?

Djarii  When I had around 5000 followers on Twitch, I was invited to the Twitch partner program. That gave me the hope to try and pursue this full time.

Icy VeinsWhen did you start with your bodypainting/makeup art, was there any special event or something that inspired you to try it out)?

Djarii  I started bodypainting around 1 year ago, I was really inspired by the deep run in the NYX Face Awards, and other bodypainting personalities on Twitch.

Icy VeinsYour first big makeup piece was the Nyx Face Awards Northern Lights look. Was this your first (on or off-screen) big project? And if so how did you feel about it while doing it, did it seem like something you’d do more often/as one of your main activities back then as well?

Djarii  I never considered makeup a main activity back then, I enjoyed it, but it was just daily routine back then. The Face Awards really pushed my creativity.

Icy VeinsWhat made you begin doing your makeup sessions on the stream itself, presumably you’d done the process off-stream before, but was there any particular reason you decided to share the process live with your viewers?

Djarii  The only makeup sessions I did off Twitch were to do with the Face Awards, otherwise I basically started my journey on Twitch. I love to share everything I do with my community, so even our first rubbish face paints were live.

Icy VeinsYou then went on to some more mainstream pop-culture stuff, starting with the Night King from Game of Thrones. How do you choose pieces like this, does inspiration just grab you when you see something, or is it more down to what you can execute well? Have you ever had a project you went for that didn’t quite turn out good enough to show?

Djarii  I generally do looks based off things I enjoy. Game of Thrones, World of Warcraft, they're not chosen for their popularity, but by how attached I am to their franchises. I've done tons of projects that were crap and got scrapped!

Icy VeinsAnd on to what we really like to see, aka WoW/Blizzard related pieces! Starting with your Demon Hunter, you really went full out with the Night Elf purple with great results.

Icy VeinsDo you enjoy these WoW/Blizzard related projects more or is it down to the individual piece?

Djarii  I prefer WoW projects because I feel painfully attached to the Warcraft universe. The characters mean something to me on a personal level and that excites me to want to present them well.

Icy VeinsYou took two stabs at female Deathwing, what made you want to improve on your initial work?

Djarii  I want to re-do a lot of the looks honestly, because I am a fast learner when it comes to creative projects. Once I have done it once, I can think of a million ways to improve it, Deathwing was at the front of the list because I learned a lot during it.

Icy VeinsWhich one would you say is your favorite from the WoW ones? Both in terms of the one you think came out looking the best and a personal favorite?

Djarii  My favourite WoW bodypaint is probably Whitemane because she's one of the full cospaints I had done which was in  collaboration with a friend (and viewer!). I also love the paint work on the reworked Deathwing. I was proud of that.

Djarii also sometimes just picks a theme and goes with like, like these impressive esports team pieces:

Icy VeinsYour Maya piece from borderlands 2 turned out particularly well. These other game pieces, do you actually play the games and get inspired that way, or is it the look of a specific character that pulls you in?

Djarii  Maya turned out well? Pfah. Mad Moxxi turned out well in my opinion, much more so than Maya! I play the games, and I'm inspired by my love for them.

Icy VeinsIf you had to pick one, which of your pieces would you choose to represent your body of work?

Djarii  It would be hard to choose one image to represent my work. I love Mad Moxxi because she demonstrates bodypaint skill and understanding, but the Night King shows proficiency in SFX, whilst Disco Glam is more avant garde, editorial makeup. Every single project teaches me about the process, so even if I don't share those looks anywhere, I carry a part of them with me.

Icy VeinsIs there anything you’d like to try but is too complex or you just don’t have handle on it yet that, (like a dream cosplay, if you will?

Djarii  Kerrigan - Queen of Blades is my dream bodypaint. I am still wracking my brain on how to present that the best way, perhaps in a few years! ;)

Thanks a lot to Djarii for the chat, and you can find more of her work over on her youtube channel, her makeup YT channel, instagram and twitch for the live versions, or you can follow her on twitter or facebook for even more updates!

  • Thanks 1

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
