Meh, I would love to change my Warlock to a Mag'har, the dark, blackrock clan-looking one, but unfortunately that won't work. :/

Maybe I could change my undead priest into one, but that particularly awesome looking skin only really would fit a shadow priest...

Tough choices ahead! :D

You'd be dumb not to race change about every character to new races based on how good most of these new passives are.

Naaah, they do look cooler but the racials are not very good. Those Orcs would fit better as hunters I think.

I want to know when Blizzard will release new allied races. I heard it's possible that they release the Vampire Elves as allied race for the Horde, the San'layn. That'd be awesome! But we already have the Suramar Elves so it wouldn't make much sense honestly.

I prefer variant of other races, like the Taunka from Borean Tundra for Taurens. What do you guys think?

They will probably go with allied race from every standard race we have. Taurens helped us gain HMT so no more taurens. Orcs will give us Mag'har, Blood Elfs give us Nightborne, Troll - Zandalari, so whats left is Undead and Goblins. Goblins have alot in common with Vulpera, both nations get their resources from treasure hunting and merchandise. San'layn are possible choice for Undead allied race. Can't see anything else that would made some pact with them. San'layn female would also satisfy everyone who wanted dark ranger class.

I'm just hoping that blizzard can change the DK starter quests or make some other change to enable allied races to be DK. Would just be nice to try out some of the new races for DK. Personally I think Zandalari DKs would be badass.

This would be extremely messy lore wise. None of these races were really impacted by the scourge, since the lands they hailed from have always been "lost". Same reason we do not have Panda death knights, they never fought for/against anyone at the time of the scourge running a muck. You'd be doing some (more) major retcon to force this in.

I've seen this discussion before and someone made a very good point - the whole Legion DK plotline was basically raising new DKs, finding new ways to make them etc. - by this logic, it's definitely possible to get new DKs, since we can clearly make them. They'd just need to rewrite things.

Also, a Panda DK does exist. There was a follower in WoD that was one - the lore was something like, they wandered Azeroth and got caught by the scourge. Surely it's possible other races did this too?

I never heard much about the DK class plot line, but if that's the case then maybe it isn't as far of a stretch. They are the class in their lore that has no limitations on race.

Unlike something like paladin or warlock that can have really awkward class-race history to reconcile. Everyone dies, not everyone loves the light/void as a race. Last thing I want is a gnome paladin or a dranei warlock (for the good guys). Those would feel awkward. I don't think any race as a DK would be awkward long term, just need some justification of how we get here.

Yeah, exactly. There's also a very strong emphasis on the idea that very few people in history have ever chosen to become a Death Knight. Arthas, Bolvar, maybe the second generation as well? Realistically, though, every "living" Death Knight was forced into it somehow. This means that the only restriction is whether or not a Death Knight with the power to raise someone (which apparently Bolvar can give to certain DKs) can get to the body.

Honestly we saw that high mountain tauren were involved in the war of the ancients, so they definitely could have been raised by arthas even. The others are a bit messy for arthas but 100% it could have been done under Bolvar considering we even try to raise Tirion who definitely died after people from the other allied races had died. The only one that might be a bit of a stretch is lightforged Draenei, but even so, it's possible.

I'm sure that, with a bit of work, they could make some lore explanation for LFD becoming DKs. The biggest issue is that the LFD themselves won't accept a Death Knight, but DKs aren't really accepted anywhere, let's be honest. The whole starter quest in Stormwind/Orgrimmar of getting pelted with tomatoes and such kind of reinforces that.

A LFD would never choose to be a DK, of course, but nobody really does.

LFD is a bit odd for me because the light protected tirion from becoming a dk in the legion dk campaign, so while it's possible, it's a bit of a stretch. Besides, LFD racials don't do much for DK and they would look almost identical to reg draenei considering all dks have blue eyes. So IMO, not worth the potential lore mixup

This all depends on how we/Blizzard perceive the Light. It's evident with what happened with Illidan, the Light/Naaru aren't just plain good and have agendas too.

Depending on the LFD, they might have done something that the Light no longer considers them as a necessity to be saved, rather just another thing in the cosmos.

Also, we were the ones trying to raise Tirion in a "holy" place. What if it was done far away from Light's Hope, the bastion of the Paladins, instead somewhere in Northrend by Bolvar himself. The attempt on Tirion was a cocky pass in a place where any undead thing is going to be weaker and any servant of the Light is going to be a hell of a lot stronger.

is there any info on how the maghar, zaldari trolls, kul'turan humans and dark iron dwarves are unlocked?

or whether or not they'll have a starting zone like the others (even if it's just an instance like the pandarens and death knights)?

cause i know from watching a few minutes of a lightforged draenei last month that they just get kicked into the action at level 20 and start off with the first level 10 zones.

at the minute i'm working on a pandaren hunter for something i want to do when i get my first month's subscription. but once i'm done with my plan i was going to do a race change to an orc (i did the pandaren because there were some wandering isle pets i wanted) but the idea of a maghar orc hunter (or a shaman to balance with my orc warlock) sounds fun

I assume it will be the same process - reputation locked behind a BfA faction. You'll probably need exalted with them and then need to complete a small scenario.

If you are talking about just a physical look ... sure ... if you are talking about an actual feel of a dark ranger, no ... hunter class as they are now, are not dark rangers ... by any way possible.  Don't forget that abilities that would make a dark ranger isn't the same that the hunters have.  The only skill that I ever found that hunters have (well, could have) that might have fit the dark ranger class was a talent that taunted the target .. black arrow i believe, but i can't remember the name necessarily.  Not that I'm trying to complain, I just want to point out that this wouldn't satisfy everyone, but only ones that would be ok with just the look of a dark ranger.  There is plenty that want dark ranger as a class with different abilities than what hunters have.

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

For the next two weeks, the Archaeology quest for Spirit of Eche'ro is available on live servers, so don't forget to get the rare mount before it's gone for 6 months!
How to Get the Spirit of Eche'ro Mount
      1. Download MapCoords or some other add-os that displays coordinates in the game.
      2. Teleport to Azsuna from the Stormwind/Orgrimmar Portal Room or use your Dalaran Hearthstone to reach Dalaran (Legion) if you have one in your inventory.
      3. Seek out Archaeology Trainer Dariness the Learned in Dalaran at 41,26 and learn Archaeology if you already haven't.
      4. Accept The Right Path quest from the Archaeology Trainer and make your way to Thunder Totem in Highmountain.
      5. Talk to Lessah Moonwater to accept Laying to Rest. For the quest, you must collect 600 Bone Fragments of Eche'ro by rotating between four digsites in Highmountain. The exact locations with coords are outlined below.
Digsite 1: Darkfeather Valley (50, 44) Digsite 2: Dragon's Falls (58, 72) Digsite 3: Path of Huin (44, 72) Digsite 4: Whitewater Wash (39, 65) it takes roughly around 2 hours to get the mount.
      Spirit of Eche'ro
"The spirit of Huln Highmountain's pet moose."

Hurry up! You only have until August 21, 2024, to get the mount!

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
