Battle for Azeroth Alliance Finale Cinematic

Recommended Posts

i6FJqbr.jpg

Here's the final Alliance cinematic starring Jaina Proudmoore and her mother Katherine that plays after players complete the Alliance campaign. It's the equivalent to Horde's Zandalar Forever cinematic. Spoilers ahead!

Update

It appears that MMO-Spoilers ripped the video from Wowhead's Youtube channel. Thanks to Stiven for bringing this up. Just co clear this up, we weren't aware of that and replaced the video with the original posted by Wowhead. We'll also refrain from using MMO-Spoilers as a source moving forward.

Alliance Finale

Jaina's story in Battle for Azeroth has been great so far. We've seen her nightmares, Katherine willing to punish her for treason, and even her visions of painful memories. In the final cinematic after Katherine accepted her as a daughter, she tells Jaina that the heart of the Kul Tiran fleet hasn't returned home for a long time. Jaina holds her father's pendant and starts humming Daughter of the Sea (the song introduced in Warbringers). Much to Lady Ashvane's dismay, the entire fleet miraculously returns to Boralus and Jaina's promoted to Lord Admiral.

Jaina's arc in this expasion is having the best character development Blizzard has ever done since Arthas, and this also possible thanks to the talent of Laura Bailey and her fantastic voice. I'm really loving the entire Kul Tiran setting.

I want to perform genocide on 10 races because of one action of one person who has been dead for years.

"One action of one person"? It is definitely not the case. Her plans for peace between the factions were foiled in succession. Yes, she feels responsible for her father dying, but kept going on; but the bombing of Theramore was the last straw. No wonder she is pissed off, but I feel this Jaina is very different from the Jaina in Mists of Pandaria who told Varian to dismantle the Horde.

Not the case? She attempted genocide on oggrimar. She "purged" dalaran from all horde members when she was in charge. She still plans to kill every horde member alive. When Azeroth was under attack from the Legion she didnt help anyone because of rage quit but suddedly returned when hordies were dying again.

Her entire character is simply kill the horde...aka greymane with boobs and magic.

"Not the case" when I say it took one person and one action. What triggered this hate for the Horde was a succession of disappointments and betrayals. I didn't like that "angst Jaina" that was shown in MoP, but she has all the possible reasons to want revenge.

If it was a Horde character in her place wanting to kill every Alliance member alive no one would bat an eye... Oh wait, there is Sylvanas, and before her Garrosh.

Herpa derpa let's send 12 ships to take down a bastion led by a veteran mage taught by Arch-Mage Antonidas himself.

But hey; let's pretend the Kul'Tiran ships were the real heroes here.

Jaina humming 'Daughter of the Sea' had me seeing LOTR flashbacks for some reason... Not that I dislike them, thought.

you know everyone brings up theramore but wasn't Jaina allowing S7 agents to be stationed there and move around. Even then checking various wow pages theramore began launching attacks on the barrens and even started a highway through dustwallow marsh to allow troops to get into horde territory faster. yes the mana bomb was basically akin to nuclear warfare and was deemed too much and peeps hated garrosh but it wasn't that theramore was peaceful and just randomly got sploded, they were doing stuff that made them a threat and a target.

just sayin jaina's whole waaa theramore thing seems very one sided.

Yeah that was my reaction too, what was fatty mcpirate's endgame?    Ignore the mage capable of creating tsunamis, raising water elementals that could scuttle her from underneath, levitate her boat with magic and drop it on another?     Who also is viewed as family by the current King of Stormwind?

Wow!! So much salt simply because Jaina's getting a little love, damn...

First of all, I don't think you know what "attempted genocide" really means. Sylvanas attempted to commit genocide on the Night Elves. She didn't accomplish it, but she acted on it. Jaina has NEVER attempted to commit any race's genocide, and I know that you're going to say that she was going to flood Orgrimmar etc etc... but she didn't actually do it, did she? She was convinced otherwise and didn't even kill a single person that night. Now, before you say "she purged Dala..." well, stop. If you played through the scenario you'll remember that she specifically says to use force on those who resist. Now, it doesn't matter if you think it was right or not, it was not genocide. It wasn't even murder, she simply exercised her powers as leader of the Kirin Tor to expel a FACTION, not a race, of the city.

More importantly, I think we should talk about what a "hero's journey" is.

Hero's journey is an archetype present in almost every story ever made, and in it the "hero" goes through several steps to finally achieve his true purpose. Jaina is classic example of a hero's journey, the steps being:
- Supernatural aid/discovery of the gift: her talent for magic at a very young age
- Finding your guardian: Antonidas becomes her mentor
- Initial growth: She becomes a talented young mage and one of the first female members of the Kirin Tor
- Challenges: Goes to Kalimdor and fights the Burning Legion with Thrall
- Purpose: Achieving peace between the factions
- Abyss: Betrayed by the Horde and has her city nuked
- Temptation: Thinks about pursuing her revenge by flooding Orgrimmar, but is stops/is stopped
-"Death": has her soul filled with hatred and revenge, think her warbringers video
- Atonement: goes back to Kul Tiras to face her path
- Rebirth: Makes peace with her family and her nation
- Return: Becomes Lord Admiral

What we're seeing here is the conclusion of Jaina's journey, and you may not like it, but it is undoubtedly a hero's journey. You can fit almost every hero of an adventure into that formula, from Ulysses to Frodo to Harry Potter. It's ok for a hero to have dark thoughts, to be seduced by the "dark side", but what makes them a hero is that they overcome it.

So the difference between Jaina and a villain character like, let's say... Sylvanas, is that even though she's sometimes tempted to do evil she resists it, while Sylvanas rejoices in it. Hell, even her lines like "life is pain, hope fails" is typical of a moustache twirling villain. Perhaps Sylvanas will get her redemption journey which is another archetype, but for evil people ;)

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
