The Horde in Control of Arathi Highlands

Recommended Posts

39474-warfronts-contribution-phase-horde

It's finally time for the Horde to take control over Arathi on live servers. For the next 13 days, the faction gains access to a world boss, quests, and rares that have a chance to drop various mounts and 340 pieces of loot.

Alliance Contribution Phase

Similar to the Horde contribution phase, the Alliance now gathers resources to fund the effort. The phase takes ~4-6 days. The quests require Gold, War Resources, and various craftable equipment.

Completing all quests will net you a total of 5,000 Artifact Power and 1,500 reputation with 7th Legion.

Note: Contribution quests can only be completed once per cycle.

Warfront Cycle

The Warfront cycle is 3.5 weeks and there are three stages:

  • Donating to fund the effort (~4-6 days) > Alliance
  • Warfront active, a once-per-cycle 370 reward, 340 piece rewards for each run (~7 days).
  • Zone control -> access to the world boss, quests, 340s from rares (~13 days) > Horde

Where to Go?

Portal to Ar'gorok is located at the Port of Zandalar near the War Table in Zuldazar.

The Lion's Roar World Boss

The Horde now has access to their Warfront boss that drops ilvl 370 loot.

Note: The boss can only be killed once per cycle and does not reset with the usual maintenance on Tuesdays/Wednesdays.

The Lion's Roar is the pinnacle of Alliance engineering. Built to dominate the battlefield, this asset can carry legions of troops and decimate enemy fortifications. When deployed onto the field, there is nothing that can stop this behemoth's charge to victory.

Quests

Druza Netherfang will have 6 quests for you that reward War Resources and reputation with the Honorbound. Each quest increases your reputation with the faction by 75.

Note: Arathi quests can only be completed once per cycle.

Rares

Rares are indicated by a star icon on your minimap. They have a chance to drop ilvl 340 loot as well as various mounts, so don't forget to kill them!

zone control of 13 days is a joke, should only be like 3 to 5 days! I mean you can do the quests and kill the World Boss and rares in less than a day! 13 is just an epic waste of time!

You understand that some people play this game casually...right? It gives everyone time to do it, not just the people who will definitely be on the first few days.

All rares done. No gear, no mounts, no toys, and one pet that I already had (that a friend sent me). This 'once per cycle' system they've got going is really unfun for collectors. At least with the rares on Argus I could kill them daily for a chance at the mounts, pets, and toys, but I guess that was 'too generous' or something. Heaven forfend we get cosmetic items we want before the end of the expac...

Edit: Oh and the bit of gear I got from the quest was for the one Azerite slot that I had a raid piece in...

RNGegus why do you hate me so?

it doesn't look like the arathi rares had their loot tables reset for alliance players. not sure if thats intentional or not. it did reset for the horde though.

Considering the rewards attached VS the difficulty of obtaining them, and also that there are other types of content to do in WoW right now (a lot of types), 13 days doesn't look all that crazy. But they might make it shorter anyway, probably to a full cycle per week.

Think I read somewhere that they're introducing another 2 WF in future patches. So  eventually it'll be 3 WF on a 3 week cycle, so each week, you'll have a WF up, a WF on contribution, and a WF down.

By then of course, even the most casual of casuals will be overgeared for 340 items, and probably 370 if they get into a few +7 Mythics.

So yes, another good idea, not really communicated, and poorly executed, and completely disconnected from the rest of the game. #betaforazeroth

It is a subject of a big controversy now, since Horde was able to loot rares while Alliance controlled the zone, but now Alliance can't do the same. Uknown if it's a bug, but might be, considering how many bugs were left unfixed from beta. If it won't reset next time, I guess it might even out eventually, though that might mean unfair advantage if some were lucky with rng.

Is that for Alliance players that previously downed the rares?  I've got a fresh 120 as of about midnight last night and figured when I didn't see the portal or get a quest to go there I wasn't high enough ilvl or perhaps I wasn't far enough on it with 7th Legion, so I've not been there yet.

Well, they've got a few hours to get that patch in for the maintenance.  I'll wait until tomorrow to get pissed about it.  Maybe.

Yes, they didn't reset. Killed them all the day Arathi was activated and so far they didn't reset. Overall, that cycle lasts too long, should have been like 5 days at most, instead of 2 weeks, since there isn't that much to do.

Or just tie it to the normal server reset.  Why create some new odd timer that's going to constantly be phasing in and out of the one everyone is already familiar with?

There's barely more than a few hours of content in there, true,  and that gives folks the same window of access as the DMF and other resets, weeklies, etc.   I know they're just loot pinatas but some folks do get really unlucky on the RNG and come away from a cycle with nothing.  It was very off putting and unexpected to see the flip Monday.

edit: there's not even the same reason to return after a single day's run through as someplace like Wintergrasp, because at least there you could farm elementals, and when you had control there was even more reason to return for such farming, even if you'd already done the raid.

Yeah because waiting an entire expansion to complete the new meta achievements is fun for collectors.

...what do you think this is a 10 week expansion?  Hyperbole much?

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
