Unlock Legion Allied Races Faster in Patch 8.1

Game Director Ion Hazzikostas said in the latest Live Developer Q&A that unlocking Legion Allied Races will be faster in Tides of Vengeance.

If you played in Legion, you've probably unlocked all Allied Races by now, but we've got some good news for players who haven't! In the next content update, the amount of reputation from Legion world quests will be doubled, allowing you to reach Exalted rep standing with Legion factions faster.

The change affects four Allied Races introduced in Legion: Highmountain Tauren, Lightforged Draenei, Nightborne, and Void Elves.

Allied Race Requirements
Highmountain Tauren Ain't No Mountain High EnoughAin't No Mountain High Enough + Exalted with Highmountain Tribe
Lightforged Draenei You Are Now Prepared! You Are Now Prepared! + Exalted with Army of the Light
Nightborne InsurrectionInsurrection + Exalted with the Nightfallen
Void Elf You Are Now Prepared! You Are Now Prepared! + Exalted with Argussian Reach

Although I like this gesture towards new and returning players, a lot of older expansions are still considered tough luck when you didn't play during that time. Try getting exalted with the Black Prince (1 boss mob per week for 500 rep) or try to get exalted with Sha'tari Defense (1-5 rep per mob).

I can understand why new players can't enter Ordon Sanctuary, it was part of the legendary cloak quest. Yet why do people who played a long time ago an expansion should have an exclusive zone? Where's my Vanilla only Naxxramas 40?

I don't recall Naxxramas being required to unlock an Allied race.

The big difference is that these are complete playable races. Never before has a race been locked behind a rep so ya, it makes sense that they're making it easier on new/returning players. There's literally nothing bad about making these easier, and just because "other expansions had exclusive/harder things to get later, doesn't mean everything should be

Yet you can unlock it by playing the game. I don't mind it goes quicker. I cheer for that change. I'm simply wondering why older reputation from older expansions won't receive the same loving. Doing the questlines get you pretty easy rep. WQ are not bad to do. Plus the Class Hall missions give afk rep aswell. Why do we need to kill 15000 mobs for 1-5 rep (Sha'tari) or 1.5 years killing one mob on the Timeless Isle. What about crafting bag recipes from the Fireland Dailies, 4 weeks of the same dailies get boring pretty fast.

like I said, because old reps don't have anything on the level of a race. People came back SPECIFICALLY for the races in some cases.

Ogri'la could use some sort of increased rep bonus, there isn't even a commendation from timewalking like there is for nearly every other rep in BC.

Like I said, I like what they did with boosting the rep from Legion WQ. If Blizzard find it so important that returning players can get access to Allied Races, unlock it for them at dinging 120. They should have adressed all factions and rep gain, not just a few that can make them a little more money. For example the Sha'tari Defense rep gains got lowered due to the scaling from 7.3.5. Takes them a pretty long time to correct that.

Yeah, the scaling rep gain from some old mobs is actually really annoying.

See, most Sha'tari defense mobs these days barely give anything, but Laughing Skull mobs are arguably worse, they started out giving lower rep per kill and once you hit 120 you just get nothing except maybe a pittance from the named mobs. I was grinding Laughing Skull on a 112 in the Pit and it was 1 rep per Laborer, 3-4 per soldier type and 50 per named and my 120 troll hunter just gets nothing. Everbloom is worse because anything that's not a named only gives 1 rep to my 112.

Additionally, the Sha'tari defense plate transmog had its rep requirement removed, I can mog it on any alliance plate character, and trust me, I did not grind that on more than my main.

Meanwhile, Laughing Skull mask transmogs are still reputation gated (as is most equipment from faction quartermasters of course, it's standard), so if you're some kind of fool who levels characters to the cap before grinding tedious things, you can lock out your nice new Mag'har from having a thematically appropriate Laughing Skull mask except by buying Medallions of the Legion from the AH. Kinda of annoying since you can make Mag'har look like laughing skulls in terms of skin color and weird scarification.

As a reminder hings like this are going away in 8.1. Transmogs will no longer be rep gated

Just stop talking.

Reputations from all past expansions can be increased by doing Timewalking events, the items are BoA so you can stack up a ton if points through cross-alt and cross-faction play if need be.

Not only is that a solution to your complaint, it has been implimented a long time ago AND NOT ONLY THAT it has nothing to do with the fact that new allied races are CURRENT content, that is why rep gains was implimented.

use your head.

Indeed. And they DEMANDED to remove the requirements because " we deserve it and dont have time to farm reputation".

Surely a customer group you should care about.

Where's the Black Prince timewalking token? Where's the Sha'tari Defense timewalking token? The Sporeli'gar timewalking token?

Sure I can buy Legion tokens for 95k per 1k rep off the auction house or try to zone hop and maybe get a lucky drop myself.

do some research. Certain factions were overlooked. Timewalking is an easy fix for factions that already can be maxed out fairly easily. Don't believe many people have used timewalking tokens, I haven;t. (can't be bothered for the right timewalking event to pop up anyway) They have revamped all zones for the scaling that came with 7.3.5. Allied Races were planned for a long time. They didn't bother to look into it and allocate some time and manpower to it.

This is great for new/returning players and fine by me.  I do agree they need to do something about rep grinds where mob level results in 0 rep per kill.  In Cata/WotLK dungeons you can still farm rep at a decent rate by running Heroic at any level because there's a minimum rep/mob.  They need to do the same for mobs that are only in open world, like Sha'tari and Laughing Skull.  Otherwise you would have to level-lock a toon to do the grinds and that makes zero sense.

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
