Freehold +11 & Atal'Dazar +12 Cleared by 5 Blood Death Knights

Naowh recently cleared Freehold +11 and Atal'Dazar +12 in time with a group of five Blood Death Knights.

Both keystone runs have been completed with the following affixes active:

Freehold Clear (Mythic +11)

The group completed the run with 5 minutes and 14 seconds remaining (30:46 / 36:00).

Atal'Dazar Clear (Mythic +12)

The clear was completed in 29 minutes and 17 seconds.

Sadly, this will lead to people (and therefore Blizz) overreacting and probably overnerfing Blood DK.

I admire the skill and work that went into making these runs, but it’s probably not healthy for the overall balance.

They've not spanked the DK's status as the strongest solo and cheese group class in the game since they were introduced in Wrath.  A couple weeks ago a DK solo'd a +9 (and a week later a paly did a +10, IIRC).  This is earlier in the patch than usual for high level current expansion mastery but we've got what seems like an unprecedented ilvl creep too.

DK's have been too strong since the end of Legion. Let's look at the facts:

1) The last M+ invitational in the spring was tanked entirely by Blood DKs's.

2) The current tanking breakdown for the Top 100 tanks worldwide by raider.io ranking is as follows:

- 66 Blood Dk's

- 15 Vengeance DH's

- 9 Paladins

- 7 Monks

- 2 Warriors

- 1 Druid

 

Those numbers don't lie. When the top end of the community is leaning so heavily to one class, there is typically good reason for it.

Every class brings something different, DH brings a speed that no other class can match with almost as much self healing as a dk with  mass grip and almost as much aoe. Warriors bring unmatched dps  and unmatched stuns and while staying in combat they can almost match a DH in MS as long as they have something to charge. Pally brings group utility (LoH, BoP, Bubble taunt, massive off heals) and rez with good dps out put aswell, just not great aoe output. Druid has rez, brez, off heals, invis, and decent movement speed and possibly the easiest tank to play with tons of aoe. I don't know if its been fixed but monks keg smash last expansion pulled 100% normal aggro on skittish weeks and to my knowledge was never fixed, at the end of the expansion there I was able to drop my two largest aoe abilities as a frost dk which was broken amounts of damage and not pull aggro on skittish weeks. Monks can also rez and have high movement speed. What do dks get aside from being able to live very very well on our own and possibly the most aoe abilities (Which does not mean the most aoe dps) and a brez that now costs more than a death strike!? Its what DK brings to the table. Nerf the self healing of a dk and it will be the worst tank because we wont offer anything that some other tank can do just as well with more utility.

Dks aren't even the #1 tank for high keys there is a monk, dh, and pally all doing +18 keys in time. Just because you are not capable of doing high keys on a tank other than a DK doesnt mean the class is broken. And if DKs are broken why arent all guilds running 2 blood dk tanks for raiding? Oh thats because we're not the best for raiding?? SO again nerfing the self healing of a dk tank would totally take the dk out of the competition.

Just to prove my point the #1 guild to get world first mythic used a monk tank on EVERY fight and on 5 of the 8 fights used two monk tanks. Breaking classes just because you don't like it doesn't help anyone or class balance.

This doesn't justify why there shouldn't be a tank rework. Any tank class brings something different but if you can't make it up for any dungeon, it's not balanced. The main reason why DK is so broke right now is that top DKs requires almost no healer intervention on most fights, and adds up a tons of utilities on undead packs (with dk mind control) which cheese a damn lot of packs. With a disc priest, you can just tunnel tyranical boss and solely focus on dps with some healing on dps. There is no drawback from doing this so you can clear stuff always faster and this is why it is meta. The point of playing DH is kiting, but you cannot dps while you kite (or not as much as any other dk really). You got also got a necrotic cheese right out of hand (Thanks god at least others tank got the moonkin alternative)... And it adds on. There's really not enough mechanics you can cheese and go through easier than with a DK and this is why it's so unbalanced right now. Remember in legion when Prot warriors were meta in Higher Karazhan with spell reflect? This is the kind of buffs others class desesperatly need. Something to make themselves more valuable than the DK's self healing which makes anything else look bad at first hand. To make it fair, all tanks self healing abilities got a nerf since legion except the DKs. Tanks in legion were all able to hold themselves up the same way DKs are right now.

Now raiding is something else since you have to soak much higher quantities of non-kitable damage which brewmasters are excelling at since WoD. It's basically the exact same problem since no other tanks are able to match their damage reduction abilities.

I'm not on the nerf DK's side, I'm just for a general tank rework which would significantly set all of them apart on certain circumstances.

Wow i never thought about it that way. You are very right about what you are saying. I remember following Raegwyn back in the days. He was the solo GOD and even soloed current content back in WOTLK. Back then the forums were flooded with post stating blood dk's were far to OP and that the class ruined wow, the game was broken etc etc. For me who love to create content for myself these kind of things is AMAZING. I love storys about people who play the game in other way's than it was created and ment to be played. 

Great work to the DK's and Ghoullove really has a strong point. Sad but true.

      Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
      We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
      Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

      Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
      The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
      The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

      All Percentiles
      As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
      U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
      Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.

      For the next two weeks, the Archaeology quest for Spirit of Eche'ro is available on live servers, so don't forget to get the rare mount before it's gone for 6 months!
      How to Get the Spirit of Eche'ro Mount
      1. Download MapCoords or some other add-os that displays coordinates in the game.
      2. Teleport to Azsuna from the Stormwind/Orgrimmar Portal Room or use your Dalaran Hearthstone to reach Dalaran (Legion) if you have one in your inventory.
      3. Seek out Archaeology Trainer Dariness the Learned in Dalaran at 41,26 and learn Archaeology if you already haven't.
      4. Accept The Right Path quest from the Archaeology Trainer and make your way to Thunder Totem in Highmountain.
      5. Talk to Lessah Moonwater to accept Laying to Rest. For the quest, you must collect 600 Bone Fragments of Eche'ro by rotating between four digsites in Highmountain. The exact locations with coords are outlined below.
      Digsite 1: Darkfeather Valley (50, 44) Digsite 2: Dragon's Falls (58, 72) Digsite 3: Path of Huin (44, 72) Digsite 4: Whitewater Wash (39, 65) it takes roughly around 2 hours to get the mount.
      Spirit of Eche'ro
      "The spirit of Huln Highmountain's pet moose."

      Hurry up! You only have until August 21, 2024, to get the mount!

      MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
      With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

      We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
      When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
      MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
