Argus World Quests Reward Double Reputation in Patch 8.1

Recommended Posts

Game Director Ion Hazzikostas confirmed in the latest Q&A that they're going to increase the amount of reputation gained from Legion world quests to make unlocking Allied Races easier in Patch 8.1. We went to the Broken Isles and Argus to check this out and report back with our findings.

Legion Allied Races Unlock Requirements

Legion Allied Races include Highmountain Tauren, Lightforged Draenei, Nightborne, and Void Elves. The unlock requirements remain relatively unchanged. You need to be Exalted with four Legion factions and complete their story that's tied to a specific zone. For example, Lightforged Draenei and Void Elves are tied to Argus, Highmountain Tauren to Highmountain, and Nightborne to Suramar.

Allied Race Requirements
Highmountain Tauren Ain't No Mountain High EnoughAin't No Mountain High Enough + Exalted with Highmountain Tribe
Lightforged Draenei You Are Now Prepared! You Are Now Prepared! + Exalted with Army of the Light
Nightborne InsurrectionInsurrection + Exalted with the Nightfallen
Void Elf You Are Now Prepared! You Are Now Prepared! + Exalted with Argussian Reach

The amount of reputation from Legion world quests will be doubled in Patch 8.1.

If you played in Legion, chances are you've unlocked them all and the catchup is mostly for new players that have to complete outdated content in order to unlock them.

As of 8.1 Build 28151, Blizzard only doubled the reputation gains from world quests on Argus, which means that unlocking Lightforged Draenei and Void Elves is going to take less time.

We went to Argus and can confirm that world quests, which previously rewarded 75 reputation, now give 150 reputation with Argus factions.

We can't, however, confirm this to be the case for world quests in Highmountain or Suramar. Currently, they award the same amount of reputation as on live servers.

WANTED: Oreth the Vile in Suramar rewarded 150 reputation with The Wardens & The Nightfallen.

In the Thick of It world quest rewarded 250 reputation with The Nightfallen and the world quest at Tel'anor just 75 reputation.

We believe this is intended, because you already receive a lot of rep with The Nightfallen by completing their questline and from various world quests in Suramar.

They didn't increase rep gains from world quests in Highmountain either. We completed Return to the River and Stonebinder Bounty. Both quests awarded 75 reputation each with Highmountain Tribe.

TL;DR

  • Ion said that they're going to double the amount of reputation gained from Legion world quests.
  • As of 8.1 PTR Build 28151, only Argussian Reach & Army of the Light world quests give double reputation.
  • We don't know if it's intended to increase rep gains from Broken Isles world quests in future 8.1 PTR builds, because you gain plenty of reputation with the factions just by completing their questlines.

I remember seeing a lot of people grinding Legion World Quests at BfA launch and I caught myself thinking - "what's the point of grinding this when they will surely either make it much easier or give it away for free later".

Can't say I'm pleased they're doing this but I'm sure I'm a part of the minority who still wants to work for rewards instead of just getting things. But since they're doing this here, might as well go boost rep rewards with other old factions like Ogri'la and Netherwing since apparently nobody should have to grind in an MMO for a reward.

You would have a point if Blizz just gave exalted reputation. People still have to put in the effort, it just won't be nearly as grindy. I want to grind out Highmountain, and may just do that before the 8.1 change, but if I can spend less time grinding it out, I certainly won't complain.

You really make it sound like Blizz is giving exalted rep when that isn't the case. Does it apply to you? No? Then stop whining for the sake of whining.

Because it's still possible to get it now instead of waiting. It's all a matter of preference.

I personally think reputation grinds wouldn't be a problem if they put it in with a long story arc, i mean right now, the only faction i have got to exalted and unlocked are the elves in Suramar and only because the majority of the rep was gained via story driven quests that were time-gated, only 10% of the rep were grind-based.

While the Zone itself was annoying, tedious, the story was awesome and if they did the same with the other allied race factions, alot more people would be exalted and not asking for a faster method to get to exalted to unlock the races.

While i agree that you shouldn't get it for nothing, i do however think that it shouldn't be a grinding type of thing, it should be 100% story and by the time you do the long story arc, then you are close to being exalted and then the rest is doing world quests.

I know this game is a MMO, but story always beats repetitive grinding and when it comes to world quests, i just don't bother doing them until the special one comes along (do x amount of faction world quests) and that is the only time i do them, i mean doing the quests the first time (pre-world quests) gave between 150-250rep and the world quests that are virtually identical to the normal quests that require the same damn time and effort and you only get 75rep......sorry, but its poor design.

I think the world quests should give atleast 150rep each to at most 250rep, i also think that they should add in a special world quest that turns them into weeklies and are only do-able once per week and you get a week's worth of rep.

I did world quests every day for 1 week and i felt like i should be put into a mental hospital, because i was bored and going crazy with the pititful rep rewards for doing world quests that require the same and sometimes even more work for far less return.

I just think they should either add in a weekly quest that allows you to do the world quests once per week and it counts like you did it every day for 7 days and you will have to wait 7 days to do it again or the way they have decided to do it....i prefer the first alternative....much more better to do weekly stuff, instead of daily stuff...but that is just me.

You can make your game as difficult as you want. If you wanna have a challenge then change your play style. But if it is important for you to be in an exclusive group of people then maybe you should see a physician rather then formulate irrational complaints.

i've done the 4 available in legion so not really bothered about unlocking the races, but switched to my warrior start of bfa and never unlocked Argus during legion, and now i just cant seem to get it to unlock which is annoying me, could have used this extra rep gain to help get to exalted to start unlocking the mounts instead of having to go back on my demon hunter just to get those mounts

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
