Limit Faction Transfer to Alliance for Ilevel 400 Gear

Recommended Posts

JOrvVCG.png

Update: It seems Limit will be returning to Horde once their faction transfer cooldown expires, so we won't be seeing an epic Alliance vs. Horde showdown in the race after all, they just popped in on the blue side for some loot. Since they'll be transferring back before the reset they won't be getting net week's PvP ilvl 400 item, however, it seems there's another ilvl 400 in the mix as the Alliance Darkshore Warfront quest is up as well, so their total will stay at two.

___________________________________________________________

The pre-race preparation war has already started and has been turned up a notch, as Limit have faction transferred to Alliance in order to get the benefit from the Against Overwhelming Odds quest that, as of this reset, will reward an item level 400 piece of gear each week. The 30% buff to Artifact Power gains isn't that relevant, as most top raiders will have already gotten to the level 42 point necessary without it, although it could help some stragglers that took the grind a bit less hardcore.

The Limit GM commented on the matter, stating that they only used gold to buy transfers, and other sources say it was only 51 characters that were transferred.

Limit have said in the past that they'd go extra hard at it in this particular raid race, as they're taking more time off work to compete (aka going at it on the same level as Method and other guilds) and, unlike Method and Exorsus, they will not be streaming their progress, keeping their tactics to themselves. As you'll remember, Limit were extremely close to getting the World First in Uldir, missing out only due to them extending their lockout since they thought they could down G'huun with the gear they already had. If you want to go more in-depth on the discussion surrounding the transfer, head on over to the reddit page where, as you'd expect, MANY opinions were oh-so subtly shared.

So, it would seem that we will have a genuine Horde versus Alliance face-off in the race to world first in Battle of Dazar'alor, as the top two guilds find themselves on opposing factions. What's more, we may even see an Alliance endboss World First, which hasn't happened since Dragon Soul and the Madness of Deathwing encounter (taken down by Korean guild KIN Raiders).
Weird fact: the only other two Alliance endboss WFs are also on dragons, with Halion in Ruby Sanctum (which doesn't really count as the raid was a bit of a joke) and Nefarian back in the original Blackwing Lair!

It seems the incentive Blizzard has introduced for people to play Alliance has paid off, at least in terms of top-guild representation, unless of course Limit transfer back at a later date. In any case, the Battle of Dazar'alor Mythic progression race is already exciting and it hasn't even started yet!

This is amazing. I'm really glad it happened, maybe the publicity will actually make Blizzard sit down and think of actual productive ways to solve this supposed 'imbalance' that don't revolve around giving faction a massive advantage.

At this point just about everything Blizzard does in WoW makes me laugh at how stupid they are. Giving one faction a massive advantage ruins the world first race for the horde. Only a moron would come up with an idea like that. Where did the Blizzard I know and love go?

But the darkshore warfront isn't 400 gear. It's 385 reward. It was up before the reset.

It's not the warfront reward, it's the warmode quest that alliance as the 'outnumbered' faction gets every week. A bit of heroic quality azerite for killing 25 horde.

After the reset it is 400+ ilvl for first darkshore warfront clear. I got 410 gloves. Also yes. Killing 25 horde will give you 400 ilvl item also.

forgive me I really don't raid, but how the hell does one make 10 to 15 million gold running Uldir 1-2 times?

By selling boosts.

It's allowed as long as you do it for gold.

You drag pay2win kids around for gold as you already outclass the content enough to do it with lower numbers and loot no longer interests you.

This is straight up unfair, there are many different ways to boost Alliance population, You get good gears by putting times and effect in a game, not because you're playing at the unpopular side. Player base should not be a factor that effect anything in game. So you're saying you value your Alliance players more? We're playing the same game and paying the same money. I played Horde for like what 10, 11ys now, I can take a few kick in the *filtered* in story, lore, But this?

Blizzard has lost their mind, I wonder if Activision has anything to do behind this decision, the cynical side of my says they want to milk money from player/guild that do transfer.

I honestly dont see the problem.

"oh its so bad for horde."

Then why are we playing horde?  Im horde, I dont feel slighted by one random extra piece of gear.  Not in the least.

Hell, even these guys didnt switch to alli, they just got the gear and switched back.  There's a reason for that.

Actually no, they switched back due to some PvP tournaments where their players HAVE to be horde due to some technicalities (rank1 and some other stuff).

Looks like folks might get only one week of benefit from the faction change with regard to the gear until there is a large participation disparity, so I hope it's worth the hassle for any other guilds contemplating such a switch. From the latest Q&A with IH:

Q: Can you explain the rationale behind Alliance getting the opportunity for ilvl 400 gear this week?

A: Blizzard doesn't think this quest is going to be here every week. Alliance participation is increasing and Horde participation is decreasing. The quest will only be offered when there's a large population disparity.

At the start of BFA, the population between Alliance and Horde was about equal. However, there were some phasing issues that lead to more Horde in a phase. Then they saw the trend of more Horde turning it ON, but Alliance turning it off.

However, they think that the Item Level 400 piece might be too high. When this was added, it was months into Uldir, but now most people haven't even stepped into the new raid and are getting Heroic pieces. They're thinking starting next week, it'll be a 385 with another bonus like Conquest points instead.

And giving Bloodlust to one faction and not the other ruined every world first race in vanilla. Almost every serious guild chose Horde just because of that, creating a faction imbalance with regard to representation that remains to this day.

Balance has never been Blizzard's strong point, but unless people want complete homogenization of all but cosmetic differences between the two factions, things like this will happen and we just have to deal with it.

Fair enough, but the point remains theyre are STILL horde.  They havent found it to be so beneficial to be alliance that it would affect any of their WF race / MDI business.  And I think if this massive imbalance was created by giving alli side some random gear pieces quicker they'd be alliance by now.

Just doesnt seem to be the issue several people posting here are making it out to be.

Bloodlust.....wasn't around in vanilla. Both factions received these abilities (heroism and bloodlust at same time.)  https://wow.gamepedia.com/Heroism

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
