Patch 8.1 Hotfixes: January 29th

Recommended Posts

41892-patch-81-hotfixes-january-23rd.jpg

We have some truly huge hotfixes today, incorporating all the class, Azerite trait and PvP changes with some non-Mythic raid tuning/nerfs, as well as a whole lot of item tuning in both PvP and PvE. Alliance players can now use the Glory of the raider mount as intended and the G.M.O.D. mount can now fly, while the Against Overwhelming Odds quest now rewards 385 items and 50 Conquest and the Call to Arms and Arena Calls quests have also had their rewards modified.

There are also additions to both the class, Azerite and PvP tuning changes that were slipped in after the ones announced yesterday,

Classes

  • Death Knight
  • Druid
  • Hunter
    • Marksmanship
    • All damage and pet damage increased by 3%.
Developers’ note: Marksmanship damage has been a bit too low when not using Unerring Vision. With the reduction to Unerring Vision’s effectiveness, this increase brings Marksmanship up to a more appropriate overall level.

  • Warlock
    • Demonology
      • Fixed an issue where demons from the Nether Portal Nether Portal talent would sometimes not correctly spawn when spending Soul Shards.

  • Warrior

Dungeons and Raids

  • Battle of Dazar’alor
    • Jadefire Masters
      • Placing a raid marker while holding the egg for the Hidden Dragon achievement should no longer cause you to drop the egg.
    • Stormwall Blockade
      • Laminaria health reduced by 10% on Normal and Heroic difficulties.
      • Energized Storm health reduced by 10% on all non-Mythic difficulties.
      • Tidal Volley and Jolting Volley damage has been reduced by 10% on all non-Mythic difficulties.
      • Sea Storm initial damage reduced by 10% on all non-Mythic difficulties.
      • The interval between spawns of Energized Storms has been increased by 25% on all non-Mythic difficulties.
      • Storm's Wail now lasts 13 seconds on Raid Finder and Normal difficulties (was 10 seconds).
    • Lady Jaina Proudmoore
      • Fixed an issue where Elusive Brawler was not being correctly removed when dodging Ice Shard.
      • Jaina will now finish casting Orb of Frost or Glacial Ray before activating Ice Block if she detects Heroism or Bloodlust effects.
      • Frozen Solid can no longer be broken with stun breaks (Icebound Fortitude, Blink).
      • Jaina's berserk timer has been adjusted to 15 minutes in non-Mythic difficulties. It is 12 minutes in Mythic difficulty.
    • King Rastakahn
      • Fixed a bug that caused some players to see no loot in the Treasure of the Zandalari.
  • Temple of Sethraliss
    • Fixed an issue with Reaping that caused Static-charged Dervish to incorrectly summon many, many, MANY Lost Souls.
    • Hoodoo Hexxers now continue to cast Rain Of Toads as long as they are alive.

Items

  • The wrapper quest for Assaults can no longer award Azerite Armor Caches.
    • Developers’ notes: We'd like Assaults to remain a lucrative source of equipment for characters who have recently hit level 120, but this wasn’t a good source for Azerite gear, as players will want to obtain newer Azerite gear with 5 powers.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the Crest of Pa'ku Crest of Pa'ku from being activated by Healing spells.
  • Fixed a bug where some on-use Battle of Dazar'alor trinkets were not properly triggering the on-use cooldowns of other trinkets.
  • Shadowtome Shadowtome can now be upgraded by Ensorcelled Tarots.
  • Heart of Azeroth
    • Developers’ notes: Based on data observed since Tides of Vengeance launched, we have several tuning changes for Azerite traits. The goal of these changes is to improve the usability of some class traits, as well as rein in the power of some of the newer traits in a way that still preserves their core coolness. Additionally, some Azerite traits changed value dramatically with changes to specs in Tides of Vengeance, so we’re taking this opportunity to rebalance those traits as the Mythic Raid opens.

Mounts

  • The G.M.O.D. can now fly … on Azerite-powered rocket thrusters.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented Alliance players from using the Dazar'alor Windreaver Dazar'alor Windreaver .

Player versus Player

  • "Against Overwhelming Odds " now rewards item-level 385 items and 50 Conquest.
  • “Call to Arms” now rewards a piece of Aspirant's gear, 50 Conquest, and 250 Honor.
  • The Arena Calls ” now rewards a piece of Aspirant's gear, 65 Conquest, and 750 Azerite Power.
  • Gladiator’s Safeguard trinket’s absorb amount reduced by 33%.
  • Gladiator’s Emblem trinket’s maximum health buff increased by 20%.
  • The healing absorption from Sinister Gladiator's Maledict Sinister Gladiator's Maledict will no longer stack. New spell absorption effects will overwrite older applications, even if they are more powerful. Initial damage has been reduced by 33%.
  • Resolved an issue that prevented some players from earning credit towards the Seasonal Vicious mount (Vicious Black Warsaber Vicious Black Warsaber , Vicious Black Bonesteed Vicious Black Bonesteed ).
  • Cooking Impossible
    • The number of Ingredients required has been reduced to 30 (was 40).
  • Druid
    • Fixed an issue where the PvP-only healing increase to Regrowth Regrowth was incorrectly increasing Feral, Balance, and Guardian Regrowth Regrowth healing.
    • Restoration
  • Hunter
  • Paladin
  • Priest
    • Fixed an issue where the PvP-only healing increase to Shadow Mend Shadow Mend was incorrectly increasing Shadow Priest’s Shadow Mend Shadow Mend healing. It is intended to only increase Discipline Priest's Shadow Mend Shadow Mend.
  • Shaman
  • Warlock
    • Destruction
  • Warrior

Previous hotfixes.

Interesting they didn't go through with the Resto-Druid Mastery nerf (even if it was only very minor). In most raid encounters, Mastery ends up as my top stat according to Healer Stat Weights, sometimes more than 20% more effective than Intellect. And that's without Cultivation or Spring Blossoms.

On the azerite traits section, there is an incorret link for a warrior artifact trait instead of the enhancement shaman trait "Strength of Earth".

Hm, good point. Guess that happens when there's so many similar ones to add. Fixed and thanks!

Why would u nerf paladins while the only reason retri can join m+ were that azriet damage so unfair we have no high singel target and they nerf our only aoe strength, paladins hardly had any place in m+

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
