Zandalari Troll Racial Nerfs Coming Soon

Recommended Posts

35675-zandalari-troll-druid-forms-in-bat

Zandalari Trolls currently have the most powerful and versatile racials out of all races in World of Warcraft. Patch 8.1.5 nears release and we still haven't seen any nerfs to Regeneratin' Regeneratin' or the Loa passives.

Regeneratin' Regeneratin' - Although this racial has seen nerfs already, paired with abilities that grant immunity (Divine Shield Divine Shield), the Zandalari Troll heals to 100% over 6 seconds on a 1.5 min cooldown, which is still overpowered. Throughout the 8.1.5 test cycle, Blizzard increased the channel to 6 seconds (from 4) and made it so that damage interrupts the channel.

Embrace of the Loa Embrace of the Loa is one of the most unique racials added to the game and requires player interaction. There are 6 shrines within Dazar'alor, each granting a different and powerful passive effect, which can be changed every 5 days. Other racial abilities like Night Elves' Touch of Elune Touch of Elune currently pale before the powerful effects of the shrines.

  • Embrace of the Loa Embrace of the Loa - Choose your Loa to gain a powerful effect.
    • Embrace of Akunda Embrace of Akunda - Your healing abilities have a chance to heal their target for damage.
    • Embrace of Bwonsamdi Embrace of Bwonsamdi - Your damaging abilities have a chance to deal damage Shadow damage and heal you for 100% of the damage done.
    • Embrace of Gonk Embrace of Gonk - Increase movement speed by 5%.
    • Embrace of Kimbul Embrace of Kimbul - Your damaging abilities have a chance to cause the target to bleed for [ 3.000 * damage ] over 6 sec. This effect stacks up to 3 times.
    • Embrace of Krag'wa Embrace of Krag'wa - Taking damage has a chance to grant you health additional Health and Armor.
    • Embrace of Paku Embrace of Paku - Your abilities have a chance to grant you 4% critical strike for 12 sec.

Community Manager Kaivax confirmed on the official forums that nerfs are planned for Zandalari racials in future 8.1.5 builds.

So, it has been multiple weeks since the racials came out and everyone assured me that the troll racials were so OP they would “obviously” be nerfed.

I am still waiting…

Not only is regeneratin’ extremely OP…but the LoA blessing is also very OP.

Take Embrace of Bwonsamdi (Your damaging abilities have a chance to deal [Attack power * 0.25 * 1 * (1 + Versatility)] Shadow damage and heal you for 100% of the damage done.)

Compare this to the Night Elf racial of 1% to crit…yeah.

Blizz. You don’t have much time left. Show us that you are not completely inept and nerf Zandalari racials already.

I’ve been following this subject quite closely throughout this PTR.

While I don’t think you’re going to see changes in the very next PTR build (coming … you know – “Soon”), I do think you’re going to see some further tuning in a PTR build after that.

I would usually move a thread like this one over to the PTR forum, but I think I’ll leave it here with this: As soon as I know exactly what’s been changed for testing, I’ll post about it in the PTR forum.

It's gonna end up with every Zandalari Troll's Loa ability dealing like, 5 damage, healing for 10, or give 1% movement speed. And that's at 120. Sure things needs to be fair and balanced, but I just don't trust they won't go massively overboard.

It'll obviously be nerfed after people have purchased race chang....I mean, after release when they've collected enough data to say definitively that there's a balance problem

Wow... "Show us you are not completely inept," is flat out disrespectful with their word choice...such a scummy thing to say towards the developers. It's unfortunate that someone who voices their opinion in such a negative way like that, is representative of the player base.

They obviously play Alliance ?

Welcome to Beta for Azeroth

I too am very mad that they test things on the PTR and nerf them before they come to live. Like I get that people aren't happy with BFA but are you REALLY mad that they're nerfing something while it's still on PTR? That's literally the point of the thing

I'm just implying that they are so overpowered that it's confusing why they were added onto the PTR in such a broken state. I mean, they are so OP compared to other racials to the point where I wonder what was going through the balance team's minds during implementation. Yes, it's good this is on the PTR and not live, but the fact that it was released as powerful as it was is concerning; makes me wonder if they'll make the same mistake on live in the near future...

One thing:

PTR =/= released.

They test things there, PTR has never been balanced and I am completely sure they are aware of the fact that this should not got live but the priority to fix the numbers is low. It works (most important part) and tuning is the last thing to do before release.

Fun fact, if it was an Alliance race no nerfs would happen at all ? .

what are you talking about? Human's racial EMFH was nerfed to the ground, it is useless with a shared cooldown.

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
