  • Normal dungeons reward ilvl 370 gear.
  • Heroic dungeons reward ilvl 385 gear.
  • Mythic dungeons reward ivl 400 gear.

Season 3 Affix

With beginning of Season 3, we have a new Nazjatar-themed affix called Beguiling and Reaping retiring for good. You can find more details about how Beguiling works here.

I mean this is great for returning players!
I am psyched to replace all my "hard-earned" "endgame" raiding gear in a couple dungeon runs.
I have a question though:

I remember last release being a bit more specific about "normal dungeon drops being increased withOUT increase in difficulty.
While I believe it should be more or less obvious this almost has to remain the case, would you care to specify?

Funny how Blizzard is going to render all of the raiding gear useless and therefore raiding the current raids practically irrelevant *filtered* usually they don't do that until expacs, huge own on all of the players who invested their time in raiding until now

There's a problem here with "I only raid for the gear". Some people raid because they actually have fun with the raid, not because of the gear. It makes me think of people that play a game for a year, then when it gets a price drop or goes free they go "well do I get a refund on the game then??"

There's definitely a problem with raids becoming completely irrelevant before the end of an xpac, but it's not because you're replacing gear that you worked towards, but rather that there isn't a reason to do the raids AFTER new ones come out. It's still fun to raid them when they're the current raids.

Not looking forward to the long grind to replace 6 pieces of Azerite Gear at that steep of a cost.

im pretty sure its meant for a once-and-done 'bis' type purchase if you want to blow that kind of cash on it.

the ones that grind everything all day yes, its a grind, but its not designed for those players alone, necessarily.

Better piece, higher cost.

1.2M in TR is a steep grind for a decent Tank and DPS set the problem with the random piece selection is (as a leather wearer) that most of the traits on several of those pieces are straight up garbage and do not stack even if they are the only traits you can pick from the rings.  You really don't get an adequate return amount from 405 or 415 pieces from scrapping to accommodate to build up for the next tier either.  To grind out BiS is to fight the RNG gods constantly in the new and or current released Raid and hope you do get those desired pieces instead of AP.   But for me it means keeping my current set up as DPS set longer because the risk to gamble for the cheaper package is not worth it when there is a higher chance to get the crappy version of piece than there is getting one that actually works with what you currently have.

Use to and in some of the other MMO's I've played it goes along the lines:

Look up gear needed to enjoy Endgame content---->Grind Currency for Gear---->Buy from Vendor------>Go and enjoy Endgame content

But in WoW it's more:

Look up gear needed to enjoy Endgame content--->Find Multiple Variations of Several Pieces---->Some are earned through Currency (splits) from Mythic Dungeons, World Quests, Warfronts, Raids, and Weekly Events---->(splits again)---Chance to either Warforge or Titanforge with slim chance of Gem Socket and has slight chance to improve what you already have and the chance to receive the exact same thing you already own but not an upgrade.

The typical standard MMO is a steady rate where the player has a straight forward plan on how to obtain gear.  With WoW on the other hand you can't necessary expect to have a straight forward path when that path diverges constantly.  BiS becomes more blurred and unobtainable running the same content for 'the chance' for something to improve your overall gameplay.

I get and respect what you are relaying the conundrum of the problem is that to obtain an increase in my main stat (Agility) and to maintain a constant DPS I am forced to hard look into multiple avenues in the gambling sector for upgrades.  And as a not hard core player it just leaves me to ponder on the grind even more.

Thats what cost does.  makes only the ones who truly want to pay the price pay it.  Its not worth it to you or is at least questionable, so dont do it. its still an option, as opposed to just grinding dungeons for your piece.  They cant titanforge/warforge so once you get it its done.

My thoughts exactly, above.

You can still enjoy endgame content without grinding for every BIS super-expensive piece, or even have BIS any gear.  Unless youre talking Mythic WF competitions or MDI stuff, in which case youre grinding anyway.  Go for it as much as you WANT to go for it.

BIS is blurred alright, by whatever youre doing.  Some traits are AOE, some better single target or with different spec talent builds.  Diablo is the same way.  Cant comment on other games other than if "once i get X piece im done" seems pretty much the end of content other than fun-runs.

This has been true since Titanforging came about, and is only marginally moreso now.  you dont HAVE to buy any pieces.  Ive literally bought one this expac.  and it wasnt the most expensive 'you pick it' option either.

If you want the best, you pay for it.  thats pretty standard in most life things.  Warcraft has been the same for a solid expansion now as well.  Whether youre grinding for 'currency' to buy something or waiting on just a drop, then a roll win for that drop (a la entire game prior to currencies) its really the same end, just different means.

I hear you about not wanting to risk the buy of a lower item RNG one...  but then just dont risk it and scrimp and save for the big one later.  Or dont buy any.  Lots of options.

I am trying to find out if there is no titun residium given for ilv 385 azerite gear. I don't seem to be getting any and wanted to make sure this is not a glitch or bug.

It's likely intended, given how easy it is to obtain 385 gear now.

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
