Blizzard is looking for a Senior Software Engineer in the latest job listing. The job description mentions Diablo 3 as a Classic Game in addition to Warcraft 3 and Starcraft. It's more than likely that Blizzard will unveil Diablo IV at this year's BlizzCon. You can read the original article linked by Redditor Shirear here.

Works well for hots with 1 patch per year

Except that HotS is getting a whole bunch of patches, more than when the team was big. With higher quality as well. So it might just work out for D3 as well.

D3 is only 7 years old.... I feel a little disgusted that they just label it classic. W3 and Starcraft have earned the title of classic especially considering when the two games came out. Unrelated note Blizzard was also much more different than then it is now when they made their decisions. Maybe I am over-reacting just a wee bit but yeah there are no updates to this game there's only "New Seasons" hell warcraft 3 was getting more patches then this game and thats saying a lot.

Alright listen lol I am not one to usually edit posts that are weeks old but whatever. D3 is an old game similar to warcraft and Starcraft *filtered* that was the point here. Regardless of the fact that Diablo 3 is being converted into "classic" which is already obvious by whats being posted above both classic games Warcraft and Starcraft ironically have receivced a lot more attention then Diablo 3. Ontop of that who's going to be playing Diablo 3 right now? Its not a context of ranting Lmafo its ironic truth.

Classic is just the team name for the "old games" maintenance team.....

Old games, or games we don't actively support much probably isn't a great name.........

It has been classic for a while already, so it's not a new information. Only few of their current games aren't categorised for classic team. So it's basically just umbrella term for games with reduced teams and budget, also including those in maintenance mode and very old ones. Even that might be questionable a bit, as game like Overwatch receives similar amount of content to HotS, for example (whether this is going to change, remains to be seen).

Its not like we didn't already know that there would be no further content expansions for D3 and that going forward it will be season modifiers and class/item reworks, as they focus on D4 to try and recover from the disastrous announcement of the mobile game last year. I swear, a Blue could take a *filtered* and you all would be combing through it for nuggets.

It's definitely weird to call D3 Classic when you compare it to WoW Classic. Or maybe they want people to forget about it and classify it as old?

they're pushing it to continued support in lieu of new Diablo product in 6 weeks at BlizzCon. There's going to be a bevy of announcements - expect some good faith renewal attempts after 2018.

Wait what? Not actively support much? Are you joking? Diablo 3 recieves much love EVEN when there was only 1 expancion to sustain such maintanance. Hell, considering how much one pays for WoW to be patched all the time, I'd say Diablo get's more than we pay for. But ofc, being a sourpuss and complaining without making any sense at all is the new thing for kids these days.

I have to agree, Blizz very much has an adoration to keep D3 as pristine as possible.

I'm not sure I understand half of this word salad.

I do enjoy people reimagining the cadence of updates whe it suits their rants.

Aw, thanks for calling me a kid, it helps my depression at getting old..........

Dude, I was just being sarcastic to get across the "classic" complaint.

I happen to agree with you. Diablo 3 has easily been the best value game I've ever played. for a total investment of £40 (ish), I've had so much out if it, it's amazing............

Blizzard have moved the launch of Season 34 back a week!
While it was supposed to start today, Blizzard cite players not wanting the new D3 and D4 season launches to overlap on the same week, and needing more time to get the season properly set up, as the previous one ended early.
      Season 34 Delay (Source)
      Hi all
We have shifted the start for the new season of Diablo III to next week. This is due to a few items:
We received a good amount of feedback that many didn’t want overlap with the first weekend of Diablo IV’s new season. We agree so we are building out that gap and will be more mindful of that going forward.
This will help us properly ensure account states migrate over as we had an issue with the prior season rolling early and us having to kick things back on.
You can find the exact times on our Season 34 blog.

Cosmetic rewards for the patch are as follows:
Completing the Season 34 Guarian journey grants the Book of Cain pet and the Lost Civilization Portrait Frame.
Haedrig's Gift will award you with the following sets in Season 34:

Sanctuary needs you to answer its call for aid in Season 34: Light’s Calling. Starting on January 24 at 5 p.m. PST/CET/KST, Nephalem can harness the power of the Light’s Calling theme, which first debuted with Season 27. For an in-depth look at what’s coming, take a gander below. Also, Season 33 will officially come to an end on January 19.

      Season Theme
      Season Cosmetic Rewards
      Season Journey Rewards
      Seasonal Conquest

      Season Theme
Looking to turn the tide of an unremitting war between light and darkness, the Angels of the High Heavens have embedded a token of their righteousness in Sanctuary. Cunning Nephalem seeking an advantage in combat will undergo an angelic trial, crystallizing a symbol of their morality into pure, otherworldly perfection. The specific celestial force imbued within by the divine is unknown—an answer waiting to be sought on the battlefield. Go forth, Nephalem!
Season 34 reintroduces Light’s Calling. Valiant Nephalem who recover Angelic Crucibles, a new consumable item, may use them to Sanctify any equippable Legendary item, infusing it with one of three new class-specific powers at random. We wanted to use Angelic Crucibles to lean into the expertise of each class, further exemplifying its respective prowess, but through a nuanced lens. The High Heavens are home to ethereal splendor, bursting with boundless radiance—we wanted to provide players with a taste of untainted power as doled out from Heaven itself.

      Season Cosmetic Rewards
In Season 34, awards originally available from Season 10 are returning. In addition to the Head and Shoulder slots of the exclusive Conqueror Set, you’ll be able to earn the Black Soulstone themed portraits and the scholarly Loremaster pennant first introduced in Season 10.

However, we know it’s nice to have something new to aim for if you’ve participated in previous Seasons. We’re continuing to provide new End of Journey rewards as introduced in Season 17, with two new cosmetic ones for those who complete the entirety of the Season journey. Prove your worth alongside the Shades of the Nephalem and complete the Season 34 Guardian Journey to earn the Book of Cain pet and the Lost Civilization Portrait Frame.

      Season Journey Rewards
If you’ve been diligently slaying demons before and reached Conqueror in the Season Journey each time, you’ve surely accrued a few extra stash tabs. You’ll earn one additional tab each Season by finishing the Conqueror tier, up to a maximum of five:
Guardian of Sanctuary: Finish a level 70 Nephalem Rift on Torment XIII difficulty within five minutes. Gem of My Life: Level three Legendary Gems to level 55. All I Do is Win: Complete two Conquests this Season. Life Goes On: Kill Maghda at level 70 in under 15 seconds on Torment XIII difficulty. Money Ain’t a Thang: Slay Greed on Torment XIII difficulty. Seasonal Conquest
Seasonal Conquests are additional goals you can complete as part of our Season Journey. To earn all the cosmetic rewards, you'll need to complete at least three of the Conquests below. The challenges available in Season 34 include:
Sprinter and Speed Racer task you with completing Acts I through V at max level in under one hour. Want to go fast while killing things? Boss Mode and Worlds Apart are right up your alley. On A Good Day and I Can’t Stop are making a return, if leveling your Legendary Gems is more your thing. Finally, if you’re keen to prove your mastery of various Class Sets, Years of War and Dynasty will be returning along with Masters of the Universe and Masters of Sets. Best of luck! Return to Top
      Haedrig’s Gift

Finally, the Class Sets rewarded for completing certain chapters in the Season Journey courtesy of Haedrig’s Gift have rotated once more. We’ve listed the available Sets below. For those new to Seasons, here’s how it works.
Completing Chapters 2, 3, and 4 of the Season Journey will reward you with three of Haedrig’s Gifts. These contain a few pieces from one of your Class Sets. Players can only unlock one Class Set in this manner per Season across Hardcore and Non-Hardcore, so choose wisely!
The set you receive depends on the class of the character you’re playing when you open each Haedrig’s Gift. To collect a full Class Set, you’ll need to open all three on the same character. In this season, Haedrig's Gift will grant all-new class sets introduced with previous Seasons.
Here are the sets granted by Haedrig’s Gift in Season 34:
Barbarian - Horde of the Ninety Savages Crusader - Aegis of Valor Demon Hunter - Gears of Dreadlands Monk - Patterns of Justice Witch Doctor - Mundunugu’s Regalia Wizard - Typhon’s Veil Necromancer - Masquerade of the Burning Carnival Return to Top

It seems something went very wrong with Season 33, as it it just... ended a while ago. Players took to the forums as there was no early warning, other than a server message around an hour before it all ended. PezRadar responded clarifying that this is not intended and that Blizzard are looking into what happened.
      Season End (Source)
Heard and got some pings while I’ve been out and I have production checking on this early end. This shouldn’t have ended today so something is funky. Will provide an update once I hear back.
