Deathwing (Official Preview)

Here is the official preview of Deathwing, the Destroyer. The Hero will be available for play at BlizzCon, hitting live servers in December.

The official preview comes with more screenshots and ability descriptions in addition to what was already covered in our Deathwing Preview.

You’ve felt the tremors of his approach; now prepare for the unmaking of your world as Deathwing descends upon the Nexus. Not content to lay waste to World of Warcraft and Hearthstone, The Worldbreaker has set his sights on the realms of the Nexus to spread his reign of death and destruction.

The Hour of Twilight falls, mortals. Bow before The Destroyer, or burn beneath the shadow of his wings!

Abilities

As a mighty dragon aspect, Deathwing has the power to switch between two forms in battle: Destroyer form, which grants him access to the Incinerate and Onslaught abilities, and World Breaker form, which allows him to use the Lava Burst and Earth Shatter abilities.

Also, those enormous, powerful wings aren't just for show; if the need arises, Deathwing can soar high into the sky, replenishing his health as he surveys the battlefield from above the carnage. When he's ready to rejoin the action, Deathwing can slam into the ground, dealing damage and assuming one of his two forms.

[D] TRAIT: Aspect of Death

Deathwing is fitted with 4 Armor Plates which grant 10 Armor each. Every 25% Health lost causes Deathwing to lose a plate. Plates are only restored when Dragonflight is used, based on the amount of health Deathwing has when landing.
Deathwing is also a mighty Dragon Aspect who is permanently Unstoppable and deals 100% additional damage to Heroes but views his allies with contempt and is immune to any of their friendly effects.

[Z] Dragonflight

After 3 seconds, fly into the sky, become immune to all effects and gaining 2.5% Health per second. When Deathwing deals or takes damage, Dragonflight is put on a 4 second cooldown.

[Q] Destroyer

While airborne: Slam down to the ground, dealing damage to enemies in the area and gaining access to Destroyer abilities: Incinerate and Onslaught.

[W] World Breaker

While airborne: Slam down to the ground, dealing damage to enemies in the area gaining access to the World Breaker abilities: Lava Burst and Earth Shatter.

[Q] Molten Flame (Both Forms)

Breather a stream of flame, dealing damage every second. Drains energy each second.

Deathwing flaps his wings, dealing damage to nearby enemies.

[W] Lava Burst (World Breaker)

After a short delay, deal damage to all enemies in the area and create a pool of magma that persists for a short time, dealing and slowing enemies.

[E] Onslaught (Destroyer)

Lunge in a direction dealing damage to enemies and slowing them. Deathwing bites enemies at the end of the lunge, dealing additional damage.

Create a fissure that deals damage to enemies and stuns them.

[R] HEROIC ABILITY: Cataclysm

Deathwing flies across the target path, dealing damage on impact and leaving scorched ground that persists for a short time, damaging enemies.

Oh nice, now that hots esports is no longer the case, it's time for crazy hero design again. There's a slight glimmer of hope that the game might be fun again. Only a slight one tho.

Exactly this, there have been many requests about adding more heroes like Abathur, Murky, Cho'Gall. Finally we've got one who is unlike any other. Only downside, queue times will be quite long during first few days after his release. ?

Looks you didn't understand: "And if you’re going to BlizzCon, the Heroes of the Storm team will host a panel to talk in-depth about the anatomy of a dragon, covering the Making of Deathwing from art, gameplay concepts, design iteration, to the final hero you see in the game.".

Final as in "final version" of this hero. They will describe the whole process of turning a concept into playable hero. This is some basic reading comprehension...

I doubt he will be well balanced, typically new heroes are unbalanced. I guess time will tell ?

It is. Deathwing is an area damage global threat that hits from the back row. Hardly a stun based full frontal tank.

Conclusion, people are dumb.

Final as in "final version" of this hero. They will describe the whole process of turning a concept into playable hero. This is some basic reading comprehension...

I am expecting ppl will complain deathwing overpower when it release. This is same when qhira release, ppl keep complain. Now in every 50 matches, I may see 1 qhira in match only.

Normally ppl take 2 to 3 week to learn how to counter her but those cry baby always like to complain and request nerf first before learn it. Now seldom see ppl pick qhira in match anymore.

No, you're bending what you want to glean from it. The ENTIRE continuous sentence talks about the creation process, and how it will be discussed at the panel at Blizzcon. Concept, revisions, release. You take the whole sentence, not just the part that justifies some asinine fear you have. FROM....TO

it isn't entirely unprecedented to think that blizz is taking the next step to abandoning hots given all the cuts and HGC cancel etc, I just hope I am wrong, that's all.

Cause when you read the whole sentence it's pretty damn clear this is what they were talking about in the first place.

And not 'to the final hero ever in the game before we shut it all down and say goodbye and for you to go home from BlizzCon knowing it's all for nothing.'

      A new Heroes of the Storm patch is now available for playtesting on the PTR with many Hero changes and bug fixes. Check out the official PTR notes for more details!
