We finally have the Warcraf 3: Reforged release date and it actually won't be coming this year, as was previously announced. We won't have to wait that much longer, however, as we'll be replaying the classic at the end of January, on the 28th, to be precise. We also have the global release times listed, so you know when exactly it will unlock. The header image of a pre-tragedy Stratholme is also a very nice touch for the announcement.

The drums of war thunder once again. Wacraft III: Reforged—the recreation of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne—will be available at 3 p.m. PST on January 28, 2020.

Though we’ve been working hard to get Reforged in your hands before the end of the year, as we started approaching the finish line, we felt we’d need a little extra development time for finishing touches. As always, our goal is to honor the high standards you hold us to.

Step Back in Time

Warcraft III: Reforged takes you back to a tumultuous time in Azeroth’s history, when a dark shadow eclipsed a peaceful land, the world trembled before the coming of the Burning Legion, and heroes risked it all to prevent the death of their world.

Soon you’ll be able to relive the definitive real-time strategy classic, with revitalized visuals, an epic single-player campaign spanning over 60 missions, rebalanced online play, a suite of contemporary social and matchmaking features, a vast universe of player-created games, and more.

Welcome Back to War

You can pre-purchase the standard edition of Warcraft III: Reforged digitally now from the Blizzard Shop for $29.99—or for $39.99, you can pick up the Spoils of War Edition, which includes a host of extras as well as in-game bonuses for other Blizzard games that will unlock immediately upon pre-purchase. In addition, players who pre-purchase either version will get access to the ongoing beta test for Warcraft III: Reforged.

See below for all the bonus items included in the Spoils of War Edition:

A bit ominous that a preorder date they've taken money for all year is delayed at the 11th hour.    Surely they realized it wouldn't be ready a while back?

And Shadowlands is Dec. 31 2020 ?

Is it confirmed as final? Couldn't find anything right now, looks like it's still not confirmed, although we should expect around a year of waiting.

As for Reforged, well beta from what I could see on gameplays looks still quite incomplete, with some optimisation issues and quite a lot of units being unfinished. Probably even more work is required for campaign. Rather expected, although they shouldn't have waited until almost last moments. From what I've read about campaign, they aren't going to change much after all, only some minor things like Stratholme's entrance.

Shadowlands still says "On or before Dec. 31, 2020" So there's a good chance it'll come out in the usual September-ish time frame most expansions release

WC3 reforged decidedly needs more work, I wonder if we will be able to actually have a working ladder system when it launches due to the delay..one can hope! ?

Considering they are actually early into working on Shadowlands I'd expect a late release date going into 2021 over anything close to September.

An 11th hour delay after 12 months of preorders looks Busch League.

Management should've seen this coming earlier and made concessions.

Is it true the map editor will have a la carte purchases?

Make concessions so you can *filtered* and complain about them!?

Honestly this disappoints me. The delay does not bother me as much since that's not much further away (though remember when they initially said it would come out around summer 2019? then after taking our money labeled it as "before or on december 31st, 2019?).

I've been waiting to show this game to my girlfriend who has taken interest in some of these characters I talk about from time to time, so what actually disappoints me is whispers of the campaign leaving things out or being incomplete. With this much money paid and this much time waiting I do in fact expect a full remaster.

But I suppose we'll wait and see, perhaps doubt is clouding reality.

However, as the years go by, expectations of Blizzard continue to lower for this guy who's been playing Blizz titles since 1995.

No matter how people dress it up this is straight up fake advertisment. Its blizzard we are talking about, they could make the promised released date if they trully wanted to. They dont lack recources. There are even a lot of beta testers since everyone that pre order is allowed to test the game. There is really no excuse. The game doesnt neet a lot of work either, the gameplay and the campaign missions are already there, its merely applying the reskin over them ( though I heard somewhere that 8 missions are being changed a bit ? cant find a solid source though).

Doing a remake isn't really just "apply a reskin over them". Coding is an extremely fickle thing where you can change a line of code somewhere, and it breaks something completely unrelated. Resources also aren't the only thing that determines when a game is going to be ready, and the last thing we need in the industry is more crunch.

It's still a remaster, since they aren't remaking game from the scratch, just remaking models and updating some assets, a lot of work anyway.

BTW, I've got mail today about release date and they are offering a refund for those who don't want to wait any longer. Looks like that pre-order law is still in effect.

Lets assume you are right(which you are not because your code argument is basically a recource. Or do you trully imply that they lack programmers at blizzard ? ). According to your logic it was obvious way before, that the game would not be done on 2019, yet it was originally implied on a summer released ,then they said "on or before december 31) and just a few days before release ( remove christmas and weekends and you are looking at merely 6 working days)  they move it yet another month later.

You are not talking about a small indie company mate. You are talking about a company that almost has 10k employes. ( they might have actually passed that number in 2019, last count was on 2018).

What I mean is that throwing money at a game doesn't magically make the game get made faster. Throwing more people at something won't always make it come out faster; that's like saying "oh well they can just put double the people working on it and it'll be out in half the time!" actions clash, problems need to get fixed.

It's not about Blizz being a huge company. The team on this game specifically isn't as big as you seem to think and they aren't just going to hire a load of people here. Even if they did, what happens to them when the game is done? Blizz already has a problem of letting people go out of the blue. Surely you've heard the term "too many cooks in the kitchen will spoil the broth"?

I always see people saying this about every game. "Oh just put more people on the project so it's out faster" From people that have no experience with making a game. Does no one sit there and think that hey, maybe there's a reason that no company does that? But nah, the people upset that their game is delayed probably know better than the people actually making the games.

10k employed = its  not such a big company .

Well this conversation is beyond hopeless.

when did I say it's not such a big company? I said it's not ABOUT that. They don't just shift people between projects like a game of musical chairs. People on the diablo dev team aren't just going to be assigned to WC3 remastered to rush it out, especially in the middle of development.

You seem to think that everyone in blizzard is just interchangeable

It's not just Blizzard doing this remaster, a lot of work was outsourced to Lemon Sky studios (in Malaysia), like they did with SC Remastered.

Gamescom is back in August this year, and Blizzard have announced they will be present at the Xbox booth!
The event starts on August 21st and runs until the 25th, with War Within, the next WoW expansion, releasing a day after that (or right in the middle of the show on the 23rd for those with early access), so we might get some exciting news on it at the show. Then there's Vessel of Hatred, the new Diablo 4 expansion, as we should get some new info on it as well, with its October 8th release date also looming. The press release also mentions Diablo Immortal and Overwatch 2 will be involved.
Xbox also announced this year they will have their biggest booth at the event yet, with the Activision Blizzard merger certainly helping with that!
And here's the full press release.
      gamescom
Blizzard Entertainment® is thrilled to confirm their presence at this year’s gamescom, returning to Cologne in celebration of two of their hottest launches of 2024: World of Warcraft®: The War Within™ and Diablo IV®: Vessel of Hatred™.

This year’s show promises to bring even more excitement, as Blizzard Entertainment will have a robust footprint alongside other Xbox Game Studios in the Xbox booth, as they come together to celebrate upcoming games and connect with the community in Europe and around the world.

“We are incredibly excited to bring Warcraft, Diablo, and Overwatch to our European community at gamescom,” said Johanna Faries, President of Blizzard Entertainment. “It’s wonderful to be able to travel to Cologne alongside some of our talented developers so that we can gather with players and celebrate the special connections that continue to be forged within our universes together.”

World of Warcraft will be celebrating the launch of The War Within, the first entry in the ambitious Worldsoul Saga. With the global launch set for August 26 - one day after gamescom - it’s the perfect opportunity for the community to celebrate together. Players with the Epic Edition or physical Collector’s Edition of The War Within can play when early access goes live on August 23rd.

Diablo will also be in full force at the event, bringing the world of Sanctuary to gamescom with Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred and Diablo Immortal.

Overwatch 2 will have a joint stand with Porsche, highlighting their new collaboration featuring a life-sized D.Va statue modeled after the new all-electric Macan and inviting fans to enter a real-life rendition of an iconic Overwatch 2 map.

Some great news for Chinese players, as Blizzard have signed a new agreement with NetEase, and players will be returning to their games as early as summer 2024!
Most Blizzard games were suspended in January of 2023, with players losing access to their characters and being unable to play World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, Warcraft III: Reforged, Overwatch, the StarCraft series, Diablo III, and Heroes of the Storm, due to an expired licensing agreement. Luckily, a new deal has now been made!
A lot of WoW players decided to re-roll brand new characters on Taiwanese and Korean servers after the old deal stopped. Their old character data is saved, however, but it will be from back before patch 10.1, so it's going to be a tough decision on how to proceed for them. Perhaps Blizzard can come up with a solution to merge the accounts?
      Here's the full press release:

Blizzard games like World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, and Overwatch 2 might soon make a comeback in China, thanks to Blizzard reportedly teaming up again with NetEase.
The news comes from Core Esports, which suggests Blizzard's game services could be back by the end of March or the beginning of April.
After 14 years of partnership, Blizzard and NetEase hit a rough patch in 2022, leading to failed negotiations. Consequently, when the licensing agreement concluded on January 23, 2023, Blizzard's game services were suspended across mainland China.
For more details, you can check out the article in Chinese or find an English translation by Amy Chen on esports.gg.
