Legacy of Dreams AND Legacy of Nightmares

I've been reading some of your guides and am confused. You describe a Legacy of Dreams build then for rings direct wearing either the CoE and Obsidian rings "or" the LoN set. 

I thought that any worn set negates the LoD buffs. Am I missing something?

No, this is due to the fact that the guides you see were once LoN builds, and they were updated for LoD with "alternative" rings. You can still use one or other with similar results, altough a max leveled LoD gem version tends to be stronger due to the fact that there are massive damage and toughness boosting affixes on some of the rings (CoE, ORotZ etc.)
