Filipku 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) Hey, I'm a hunter running Challange Mode these days, my group consists of a Monk tank, ret Paladin, frost Mage, Druid healer and me (the survival hunter). At the moment i'm running with a Hyena for the 10% melee and ranged haste buff. But i was wondering for a single target boss fight: 1. how much does a survival hunter benefit from sunder armor/fearie fire? Since most of my damage abilities are magical damage, or are they seen as fysical damage as well? 2. Would it be better to get a pet that increases magic damage taken by 5%? (i t would be a cunning pet though.) or is the 10% haste buff and the ferocity pet still the most viable option? Thanks in advance for helping me out, Filipku Edited March 1, 2014 by Filipku

Thanks in advance for helping me out, Filipku All but auto shot and kill shot damage is magic damage. So if nobody else can provide the spell damage debuff, then go grab a pet that can. As far as I know, cunning vs ferocity shouldn't be an issue of getting the (de)buff, think of that as a pets racial ability. Best of luck with your challenge modes! Kattii 40 Report post Posted March 2, 2014 These are questions you group should decide. The hyena is providing haste for the monk, ret and yourself. A raptor/tallstrider would benefit everyone hitting the boss. The dragonhawk/wind serpent would only benefit you, the mage and the druid if its dotting up the boss. On a side note, all pets should be ferocity if you want the maximum amount of damage out of them. If you tame a pet that is naturally cunning, remember you can change its spec yourself. Rabid and Heart of the Phoenix are too good not to have.
Zagam 1,982 Report post Posted March 6, 2014 10% ranged and melee haste is too damn good to pass up. Keep the Hyena. When I did my Hunter's Challenge Modes, I went heavy Mastery because AoE on trash > damage on bosses. You still line up Stampede and Rapid Fire for bosses because they don't help with trash too much. Your job should be using Misdirection on CD to assist the tank with pulls, interrupt casters with Counter Shot, Scatter Shot, and Freezing Trap, and proving the best damage in your group. Survival Hunters are well equipped to be monsters in Challenge Modes due to how well they scale at that item level with all Agility gems.
