Early Signs of the Upcoming Shadowlands Level Squish Show Up on WoW Armory

Recommended Posts

We're expecting a level squish in Shadowlands and the first signs come from the official WoW Armory where a piece of code slipped through as level requirements for older raids have been decreased in some instances.

The Emerald Nightmare, Trial of Valor, The Nighthold, and Tomb of Sargeras are currently displayed in the armory as available at level 35 (down from level 110).

legion raids.png

Antorus still hasn't been updated and requires level 110.

All Cataclysm raids require level 85 besides Firelands which had its level requirement reduced to 25.

For Wrath of the Lich King raids, the clear outlier is Ulduar available at level 20 (down from 80).

wotlk.png

The Burning Crusade raids have two outliers; Black Temple available at level 20 (down from 70) and Karazhan available at level 68 (down from 70).

tbc.png

Oddly enough, the required level for Vanilla raids is 50 (down from level 60).

Battle for Azeroth, Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor raids show no signs of the level squish as of yet. You can find more about the planned level squish here.

That seems kind of at odds with the speech they gave at Blizzcon where the example was "choose which expansion you want to level in after the starting area to go from 10-50, and then at 50 you go to Shadowlands until level cap". Looks like they may have abandoned parallel leveling paths and stuck to just a straight squish. On a side note, I wonder if Legion will get double squished and become a side-by-side with Draenor, similar to TBC/WOTLK and CATA/MOP.

It might still mean you can choose, i mean doing any of the expansions, i tend to be ready for the next expansion within 2-3 zones (i do every quest), like Legion for Example, i am ready for BfA content by the time i finish 2 zones and that is solo and without doing dungeons.

So, it could still be the way they talked about, all the expansions so far have enough quests in them to allow that leveling (10-50) it will just require the xp reward and kills reward changes to balance it out, so it is possible.

My concern are the heirlooms, i have mine fully upgraded to 120.....unless they will be changed to be tiers, 15-30-45-60, but ultimatlely be replaced at max level as gear rewards become available....hmmm.

Anyway, i suggest we wait for more info before we jump to conclusions.

It's completely unrelated. The speech at Blizzcon was about "Chromie Time", where you do choose an expac (as a vet, new players get BfA), and you level 10-50 doing that xpac. The alternative is talk to Chromie, ignore that method and level through each zone expac with it's brackets. Raids aren't part of levelling, so makes sense they have lower brackets for farming tmog etc.

I'd wager they will be changing those to brackets to match the raids above, as they're still a gold sink, though ideally, just remove that and make them all 1-50 standard, 1-60 in 9.2 ish

I just hope we get legacy loot for Legion raids so we can more easily complete sets

Probably or it will still be lootable after this change in shadowlands....if not there will be a warning set out to get them all before shadowlands.

True, but what about those that upgraded them all already? do we have to pay again? cause doing those upgrades cost ALOT of gold

I assume this will also effect when mogs from these raids are usable by a character? No more level restrictions, or lower, on mogging will be pretty neat come Shadowland's inevitable content lull and the desire to level alts.

The Timewalking Raids are the most affected. The change to the others is odd, but I'm sure we'll se more changes soon.

Yeah but i read that they wont be accessible till 50. I love making old expansion max twinked characters.

Copied from my mmo champ thread:

Farming old raids should not be a problem but what I don't understand is how previous expansion twink alts are going to work. I enjoy playing level 60, 70, 80 and 85 twinks in pvp and dueling outside SW and Org. I've done a bit of research and i really not happy with the findings. Apparently, in SL, if i want to make a level 50 Classic or BC twink ive been told it will be impossible because from from 1-49 if i choose to level my alt in classic zones, everything will scale to my level as normal but once i ding 50, all classic dungeons and raids will scale down to something around lv 15. So if i try to make a twink at level 15 it will be impossible as MC, SWL and AQ will all be level 50 to me. In other words, all older dungeons and raids will scale down once i ding level 50 so there will be nothing to farm.

For example:

I make a warrior alt - Level 1-49 in Classic zones.
All mobs scale to my level in a similar system to what they have now (except it will be 1-49)
MC, BWL and AQ will be level 50 to me while i am leveling so i cant farm them.

I ding 50!

So Option 1:
All old content scales down to an appropriate level to match the older leveling experience :
MC, BWL, AQ - level 15
BC Raids - Level 20
WOTLK - Level 25
Cata - Level 30
Pandaland - Level 35
WoD - Level 40
Legion - Level 45
BFA - Level 50

so therefore at level 50 i can only group up with other twinks and farm BFA content.

Option 2:
Every dungeon and raid in older content scales to level 50.
This would make for some very interesting twinking (MC and AQ gear on the same par as Nyalotha mythic wtf?)

Option 2 is very unlikley but i dont like the idea of option one at all as it means the end of previous expansion twink alts

Probably keep them fully upgraded, just squished down.

Short version, stop worrying until we get official numbers, it's all theory and bugs until then, inc w.e you read since afaik there's been nothing official on the scaling of the squish, nor raid levels

Hmmm would like to see a new class for shadowland , focus on support and boosting others maybe? its all about numbers these day it would be fresh to see a new role. The 60 squish is a great opportunities to rework the class talent leveling etc but so far it is still just about numbers ...

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
