Shadowlands Alpha 9.0.1 Build 34490: New Anima Powers

As pointed out in the latest Torghast Development Update, new Anima Powers were added for Death Knights, Paladins, and Warlocks on Shadowlands Alpha in Build 34490, so we're looking at them in more detail.

Death Knight Anima Powers

Death Knights can enter Torghast as of the latest Alpha build, so they received some initial new Anima Powers.

  • Ancient Drake Breath Ancient Drake Breath - Icebound Fortitude unleashes an Ancient Drake, freezing all nearby enemies for 8 seconds.
    • Ancient Drake Breath Ancient Drake Breath - Summons a frostwyrm who breathes on all enemies within 40 yards in front of you, stunning them for 1.5 seconds.
  • Animate Armaments Animate Armaments - Death Grip strips your enemy of their weapon, animating it to fight by your side for 6 seconds.
  • Blood-tinged Poker Blood-tinged Poker - Sacrificial Pact has no cooldown, and Raise Dead's cooldown is reduced to 25 seconds.
  • Bone Growing Juice Bone Growing Juice - During Summon Gargoyle, Empower Rune Weapon, or Dancing Rune Weapon your size, Strength, and Stamina is increased by 50%.
  • Bone Harvest Bone Harvest - Death Coil afflicts enemies with Bone Harves, dealing 60% of Death Coil's damage over 5 seconds. Targets killed during Bone Harvest are reanimated as a Risen Skulker or a Magus of the Dead.
  • Boundless Fortitude Boundless Fortitude - Mind Freezing a spell cast activates Icebound Fortitude.
  • Creeping Decay Creeping Decay - Death and Decay's radius is increased by 3 yards.
  • Darkreaver's Lens Darkreaver's Lens - Anti-Magic Zone reflects harmful magical effects back at the caster.
  • Darkreaver's Ward Darkreaver's Ward - Anti-Magic Zone lasts 5 seconds longer and the radius is increased by 1 yard.
  • Death Turf - You and your minions gain 10% Haste while you are inside your Death and Decay.
  • Entropic Pool Entropic Pool - Death and Decay gains an additional charge.
  • Exterminator Exterminator - Death Gripping a Maw Rat causes it to explode and resets the cooldown of Death Grip.
  • Chains of Anguish Chains of Anguish - Chains of Ice blinds enemies' health together, causing them to share 50% of damage taken.
  • Lich Robes Lich Robes - Lichborne's cooldown is reduced by 10 seconds when you cast Chains of Ice.
  • Monstrous Concoction Monstrous Concoction - Death Coil's healing infuses you or your minions with monstrous power, increasing Attack Speed and damage by 15% for 60 seconds. Stacks twice.
  • Necromantic Bile Necromantic Bile - Sacrificial Pact deals 100% more damage.
  • Phearomones Phearomones - Enemies damaged by your Death and Decay have a chance to cower in place for 3 seconds.
  • Plaguebringer Plaguebringer - Marrowrend, Obliterate, and Festering Strike cause your disease damage to occur 150% more quickly for 5 seconds.
  • Rune of Razorice Rune of Razorice - Affixes your weapon with a rune that causes (1.05% of Attack Power]% extra damage as Frost damage and increases enemies' vulnerability to your Frost attacks by 3%, stacking up to 5 times.
  • Slick Ice Slick Ice - Path of Frost increases Movement Speed by 30%.
  • Unbreakable Cuffs Unbreakable Cuffs - Chains of Ice lasts an additional 3 seconds.
  • Unquenchable Blade Unquenchable Blade - Summon Gargoyle, Empower Rune Weapon, and Dancing Rune Weapon cooldowns are decreased by 15 seconds.

Demon Hunter Anima Powers

  • Deadly Toll - Fodder to the Flame cooldown reduced by 0.1 seconds.
  • Fallen Comrade's Blindfold Fallen Comrade's Blindfold
    • Vengeance: Casting Fel Devastation summons an Allied Havoc Demon Hunter who casts Eye Beam.
    • Havoc: Casting Eye Beam summons an Allied Vengeance Demon Hunter who casts Fel Devastation.
  • Stalker Sling Stalker Sling - The Hunt cooldown reduced by 0.1 seconds.

Paladin Anima Powers

Most of the new Paladin Anima Powers have placeholder names based on their rarity. This happened with Druid Anima Powers too and they got renamed in a consequent Alpha build.

  • True Judgment True Judgment - The first time you Judge a target, it has a 50% chance to be deemed Unworthy, permanently reducing its damage and health by 20%.
  • Paladin Common 1 Paladin Common 1 - Holy Power abilities are 30% more effective.
  • Paladin Common 2 Paladin Common 2 - Every 10 seconds in combat, you gain 1 Holy Power.
  • Paladin Common 2 Paladin Common 2 - When an enemy dies within Consecration, you gain 20% damage and healing for 10 seconds.
  • Paladin Common 3 Paladin Common 3 - Hammer of Wrath deals 60% increased damage. 
  • Paladin Common 4 Paladin Common 4 - The cooldowns of Judgment and Holy Shock are reduced by 1.5 seconds.
  • Paladin Common 5 Paladin Common 5 - The cooldowns of Blessings are reduced by 25%.
  • Paladin Common 7 Paladin Common 7 - For the first 30 seconds of each floor, you have Avenging Wrath.
  • Paladin Common 8 Paladin Common 8 - When an enemy dies within Consecration, you gain 20% damage and healing for 10 seconds.
  • Paladin Common 9 Paladin Common 9 - Grand Crusader, Art of War, and Infusion of Light reduce the remaining cooldown of Divine Steed by 5 seconds. 
  • Paladin Epic 2 Paladin Epic 2 - Hammer of Wrath extends Avenging Wrath by 4 seconds.
  • Paladin Epic 3 Paladin Epic 3 - Divine Shield protects everyone in your party.
  • Paladin Epic 5 Paladin Epic 5 - Holy Power abilities cost 1 less.
  • Paladin Epic 6 Paladin Epic 6 - During Avenging Wrath, prevent 50% of incoming damage. That damage will be dealt to you when Avenging Wrath ends, if the enemy that dealt it is alive.
  • Paladin Rare 1 Paladin Rare 1 - The cooldown of Divine Steed is reduced by 60%.
  • Paladin Rare 3 Paladin Rare 3 - Hammer of Wrath makes your next Holy Power ability 100% more effective.
  • Paladin Rare 5 Paladin Rare 5 - Once every 45 seconds, Word of Glory applies Blessing of Spellwarding.
  • Paladin Uncommon 4 Paladin Uncommon 4 - Forbearance increases damage dealt by 25%.
  • Paladin Uncommon 5 Paladin Uncommon 5 - When a party member is damaged below 50% health, you cast Blessing of Sacrifice on them. Cannot happen more than once every 45 seconds.
  • Theory of Justice Theory of Justice - Hammer of Wrath has a 30% chance to cast Hammer of Justice on the target.

Warlock Anima Powers

  • Blood-Stained Dagger Blood-Stained Dagger - Health Funnel also reduces your pet's damage taken by 10% for 10 seconds.
  • Bottled Shadow Bottled Shadow - Gaining a stack of Soul's Blessing increases your pet's damage by 200% for 15 seconds.
  • Crystal of Perpetual Displacement Crystal of Perpetual Displacement - Reduce the cooldown of Demonic Circle: Teleport by 8 seconds.
  • Smoking Shard of Teleportation Smoking Shard of Teleportation - Using Demonic Circle: Teleport or your Demonic Gateway reduces all damage you take by 50% for 10 seconds.
  • Tainted Blood Vial Tainted Blood Vial - Your Malefic Rapture (Affliction), Hand of Gul'dan (Demonology), Chaos Bolt (Destruction) no longer consume any Soul Shards, but instead cost you 50% of your current remaining health.
  • Void Etched Talisman Void Etched Talisman - Using a Healthstone increases all healing taken by 50% for 30 seconds.

      Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe.       Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
      Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

      Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
      We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
      Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

      Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
      The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
      The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

      All Percentiles
      As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
      U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
      Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.

      For the next two weeks, the Archaeology quest for Spirit of Eche'ro is available on live servers, so don't forget to get the rare mount before it's gone for 6 months!
      How to Get the Spirit of Eche'ro Mount
      1. Download MapCoords or some other add-os that displays coordinates in the game.
      2. Teleport to Azsuna from the Stormwind/Orgrimmar Portal Room or use your Dalaran Hearthstone to reach Dalaran (Legion) if you have one in your inventory.
      3. Seek out Archaeology Trainer Dariness the Learned in Dalaran at 41,26 and learn Archaeology if you already haven't.
      4. Accept The Right Path quest from the Archaeology Trainer and make your way to Thunder Totem in Highmountain.
      5. Talk to Lessah Moonwater to accept Laying to Rest. For the quest, you must collect 600 Bone Fragments of Eche'ro by rotating between four digsites in Highmountain. The exact locations with coords are outlined below.
      Digsite 1: Darkfeather Valley (50, 44) Digsite 2: Dragon's Falls (58, 72) Digsite 3: Path of Huin (44, 72) Digsite 4: Whitewater Wash (39, 65) it takes roughly around 2 hours to get the mount.
      Spirit of Eche'ro
      "The spirit of Huln Highmountain's pet moose."

      Hurry up! You only have until August 21, 2024, to get the mount!

      MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
      With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

      We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
      When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
      MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
