Zagam 1,982 Report post Posted April 16, 2014 So for anyone interested, Locky and I performed a live testing this week of using our forgotten little Imps. They impressed us in a very good way. Here's some comparison data... Last Week's Sha of Pride - 423k DPS (5:23 combat) http://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/VxKcWntmbZYyNfBa#fight=9&type=damage-done&source=8 This Week's Sha of Pride - 403k DPS (4:32 combat) http://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/hPw4KjRp8NLxXF2C#fight=8&type=damage-done&source=13 Direct comparison is difficult because of using Bloodlust in a difference place and a HUGE drop in time (almost a minute!) with our group this week. I'm not going to hyperanalyze these logs because of the variance in time, but this is a good fight to see the difference. Timing was all messed up because of the decrease in time spent, so I'll need another week for clarity. Let's instead look at Malkorok. Last Week's Malkorok (GoSac) - 328k DPS (4:28 combat) http://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/VxKcWntmbZYyNfBa#fight=42&type=damage-done This Week's Malkorok (GoSup) - 379k DPS (4:03 combat) http://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/hPw4KjRp8NLxXF2C#fight=26&type=damage-done My DPS going up 51k isn't explainable by switching a talent. The decrease in time spent doing fight by 25 seconds results in our group really developing synergy and outperforming the previous week. With only a sample size of 2, I can't directly compare GoSac vs GoSup on a week by week parse. What I'll do here is break down this week's 379k DPS as if I used GoSac and compare the numbers. Damage Distribution with GoSup (Imp) Chaos Bolt - 27.49M Incinerate - 26.36M Immolate - 11.33M Imp - 8.09M Shadowburn - 7.82M Conflagrate - 4.54M Essence of Yu'lon - 3.64M Terrorguard - 2.25M Rain of Fire - .237M TOTAL - 91.75M While it's not perfect, we can just approximate the general change in spell damage by subtracting the Imp, reducing Terrorguard by 20%, and adding 15% to Incinerate, Conflagrate, Shadowburn, and Chaos Bolt. Augmented Distribution with GoSac Chaos Bolt - 31.61M Incinerate - 30.31M Immolate - 11.33M Shadowburn - 9.00M Conflagrate - 5.22M Essence of Yulon - 3.64M Doomguard - 1.875M Rain of Fire - .237M TOTAL - 93.22M 91.75 GoSup is 1.6% less than 93.22 GoSac's assumed values. Was my parse perfect? Hardly - Immolate uptime was 91.2%. This could be from running around absorbing spheres to being knocked up in the air to having to move at inopportune times to absorb an implosion. What does it mean? It mean's Sacrifice isn't THAT much better than Supremacy, and I'm still debating if this is conclusive. It's hard to measure any fight up against another with as bad as RNG swings that exist, but then again - numbers don't lie. This is taking a real parse and augmenting it as if GoSac was applied instead. The difference, over 4 minutes, is about 1 Chaos Bolt. I think in the long run, GoSac wins out because of the increased damage to Shadowburn and Chaos Bolt more than any other spell. As some may remember, I'm using a 561 BBoY over a 574 KTT because of the RNG swing in Multistrike disappointing me. I'm also coming into an understanding that if someone knows how to use Chaos Bolt with procs to a high level that BBoY can trump KTT. I believe the Mastery/Haste passive can contribute more DPS than the Multistrike effect can (and do it more reliably) and I think a good snapshotter can take advantage of stacks 6-10 of BBoY which do more damage than the constant bonus of KTT. TL;DR - GoSac > GoSup, but not by much. Live testing giving me the belief that BBoY > KTT under highly skilled use, even if BBoY is lower in item level. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Having a pet is WHY I made my warlock 8-9 years ago, I wanted a pet so I made a hunter but at lvl 3 I found out I didn't get a pet till lvl 10 but a warlock got it at lvl 4. Rerolled warlock. Your GoSup parse only had 2 DS for a ~16% uptime, where as your GoSac parse being 28 seconds past 4 min mark got 3, for around 22% uptime... specifically during execute. I noticed one huge difference in your two parses, GoSac you used Doomguard during execute, he got 16 of 18 casts off. In your GoSup parse you used him on pull, he got the full 18 casts off. Your Doomguards average Doombolt was 68,341, crit 135,299 Your Terrorguards average Doombolt was 60,760, crit 156,862 I didn't dig to see what may have caused the Terrorguard to have a lower average non crit but i suspect it could be part due to the number of non crits used for teh average. The Terrorguard used on pull had nearly 84% crit (Darksoul and int procs) and the one used in execute only had 53% crit rate. Aside from missing two casts, be it RNG, or the difference on when you used it, the terrorguard did almost 60% more dmg than the doomguard, not 20% Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Notice the 25 second gap in duration of combat. 4:03 as a combat time gives me 3 Dark Souls, but the 3rd is only up for 2-3 seconds maximum. As for Doomguard, I pop him based on trinket procs on the pull. If my BBoY and PBI make love to each other, I'm not wasting time casting Doomguard - those are all about my Chaos Bolts and building Embers. If either trinket lags, I use a global to get the Doom/Terrorguard out. The damage decision to use him when all procs are going or during execute is largely inconsequential. 2 casts missed when used during execute phase was a loss of what, 200k damage? Doomguard and Terrorguard update dynamically, so the Terrorguard's non crits could have been during a time with no procs and crits could have been with a proc. Hard to tell, not worth analyzing. The 60% more damage remark sounds much more than it actually impacts which is around the worth of 500-700k damage. Great points to notice - very sharp eye. The problem is that I don't statically use my Doom/Terrorguard in the same place. Yeah I initially started my reply because I found it interesting that in this specific comparison the lower DPS parse got a full extra DS during execute, where as the shorter one that missed getting in the 3rd Darksoul ended up much higher, most likely primarily due to shorter duration and less with rng/spec. in the middle of that I got side tracked with the guardian stuff lol The difference in crit rate and dmg between when it was used peaked my curiosity. I am going to have to check a few parses to see if the ~30% higher crit rate on pull is consistent, as while it is minor in terms of overall dmg, it still seemed in this case to have a significant impact on the total output of the cooldown by itself.
