Mythic Castle Nathria Race to World First: 6 Down on Day 1

Recommended Posts

Here we finally are in the Castle Nathria RWF! The first aka NA day has ended with the guilds going off to either rest or do more Heroic splits. The total tally of this first 10 hours was 6 out of 10 bosses down, and we're going to be summarizing all the interesting events of the day, as the EU guilds will be entering Nathria very soon. I'll be using my own data from over at the live Raider.IO coverage, so if you want a whole lot more info, head on over there!

It all started pretty poorly, as maintenance not only went its full duration, but was also extended by 2 hours, seeing the guilds enter the raid at 1PM PDT/10 PM CET - a solid 4-5 hours later than usual for these competitions.

Big Dumb Golden Guardians jumped right into the raid immediately, as Complexity Limit, the current champions, went do do their weekly dungeon quest for that extra piece of Heroic loot. This resulted in some World Firsts for BDGG, as Shriekwing, the very first boss, appropriately went down on the very first try:

Only Lazarus Imperative managed to catch up by downing the intro-bat before BDGG plowed through the second boss as well, as Huntsman Altimor also went down, in 5ish pulls:

After a few more guilds caught up to 2/10, including Blood Legion, Lazarus Imperative and Complexity Limit, the pace slowed down considerably, as the guilds set their sights on the Sun King and his Salvation. This lasted some two hours before we found out that Lazarus Imperative weren't actually on the Sun King bandwagon and had opted to go for the Hungering Destroyer, which was definitely the right call, as they also downed the boss and were the first guild on 3/10! Not only that, this was Lazarus Imperative's first ever World First, and it's great to see new entries into that particular legendary list!

This was some 2 and a half hours from the race start, and we now had 6 guilds on 2/10 and only one on 3. An hour later, BDGG claimed their third World First in Castle Nathria, as their progress on Sun King's Salvation finally proved fruitful, and put them neck and neck with Lazarus at 3/10.

Limit were extremely close on the Sun King kill, getting it around the same minute as BDGG. This is where things started to look more regular and expected, as Limit caught up and then some, downing the Hungering Destroyer within 30 minutes and were now in the lead on 4/10, with 0 Nathria World Firsts to their name!

There were some 25 guilds with a kill to their name at this point, with 13 only having gotten Shriekwing down. As BDGG struggled on the Hungering Devourer and Lazarus Imperative chose to go for Lady Inerva Darkvein instead of going back to do Sun King, it was Complexity Limit that got another kill, their first WF of the raid! The Lady Darkvein fell pretty quickly all told, less than 2 hours after Limit started progressing on her. Now at 5/10 and two bosses ahead of everyone else, it was looking like Limit were going to call it a (progress) night and head to splits and other farming routes.

However, they decided to try out Artificer Xy'mox and apparently figured he was potentially doable. Meanwhile, BDGG actually managed to push through the Hungering Destroyer wall and moved into second place on 4/10, now one boss behind Limit.

That wasn't going to last long however, as Limit were discussing whether to continue their tries on the Artificer, wanting to go do splits. After some talk, an impulsive "eh, let's just pull one more time" decision was made, and that was it for poor Xy'mox, as he died right then and there! A mere 1 hour and 15 minutes after their previous World First, Limit had gotten another one, on their quite literally very last try of the night! Now at 6/10 they could do some more chill farming and then sleep.

At the end of the day, we had Limit at the top at 6/10, BDGG second on 4, then a group of 6 guilds at 3/10, 27 guilds on 2/10 and 74 with only Shriekwing defeated!

This sets the stage for the EU opening of the race, as there will most likely be no maintenance for the EU guilds and the 6 bosses should go down very quickly, and we might even see a 7th before the NA guilds return, with Echo, Pieces, FatSharkYes and more gunning for those kills.

To follow the race live, head on over to Raider.IO's race coverage, where you can find all the streaming events, as well as written updates, kill VoDs and more!

On addition to losing the first day lore reveals, the current first day scoreboard is the solid proof of how this race is not fair for EU and other regions at all either...
Equalize the reset days please Blizzard! You can do it at launch, you have the technology!

The first few bosses of Mythic are typically easier than the last few bosses of Heroic, it's really not much of a WF race until the last couple bosses of Mythic anymore, otherwise I might agree with you. Additionally, videos/streaming often end up giving EU guilds an advantage, especially with their raid reset coming a day later giving them a chance to end a lockout ahead of NA.

Been watching/listening to Gingi's stream while at work.  Blood Council fight seems to be more stressful than that of the Queen Azshara fight from EP Mythic.

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
