Stopcast macro? or finish casts? (For shooting stars procs)

Yea thats how it works, but I'm wondering if I should do that or should I finish my cast?

To be honest I am not 100% sure if we should end our cast or not. Say, for instance that I have ~0.5 seconds left on my cast then I would use the starsurge macro, but if I have less than ~0.5 seconds remaining on my cast then I would complete the cast and then use Starsurge immediately following.

 

Again not entirely sure if this is correct, this is just a rule I try to follow. I welcome any and all criticism.

From what I've seen, stop cast if you're not very far into your cast, and finish if your cast is mostly done.

You'll want to stopcast anything under 80% completed cast. Although with wrath you can stop it at any point since SS hits about twice as hard, plus the longer you delay a SS you could get a few more proc's in that time and then lose more dps than you might have gained.

I went and asked on mmo champ as well and they told me not to use a stop casting macro.

I compared other boomkins and it seems missing 30% of procs is common.

At least on iron juggernaut

It is not possible to use all of your procs, because they overwrite faster than you can use them.

Well that was why I wanted to use the stopcast macro. To reduce the amount of missed procs. But apparently you're not supposed to use the stopcast but it would be better to just manually stop by moving since a stopcast might stop you from queuing the spells correctly when you want to finish the cast

Stopcast macros can also screw you if you have a habit of button spamming and you're trying to hard cast it.

 

You don't have to move, though. You can keybind cancel cast - my middle click stops my casts for me. 

 

Edit: I have a habit of trying to spell "habit" like "hobbit".

Well, I don't like the idea of using a button to stop cast unless im trying to fire off another spell ASAP.

 

Being a druid and all, I'm much more use to just moving to throw off instants.

Fantastic, thanks! I usually go looking through BL, Paragon, Method, etc. but none of those guys seem to have streaming boomkins.

The only time I will ever cancel a cast to dump a proc is if I have JUST started a stock (meaning no haste buffs) starfire, and thats because you will get enough benefit from dumping the proc, waiting the global and recasting. Other than that NEVER cancel casts to dump procs, it's a DPS LOSS to wait the global after dumping the proc.

 

With all that being said, I've found that it's WAY more efficient to simply interrupt a cast by moving rather than through a stopcast macro, either way you still have to wait the global after dumping the SS, so it really doesn't matter
